  • As I was visiting Switzerland a couple months ago, I reached out to Henrik Korpela who is the founder and instructor of Korpela and Hofs Watch Competence Centre, which is an independent Swiss watchmaking school that teachers many students from all over the world.
In this episode of my visit to KHWCC, the Watchmaking School in Le Locle Switzerland, Henrik goes into details about the amazing watchmaking short courses he runs, for watchmakers to obtain new watchmaking skills, watchmaking hobbyists, and watch collectors alike.
He goes in depth about the use of a profile projector, the use within watchmaking in repairing watch parts from antique watches and pocket watches. Because no new watch parts are available for these old time pieces, they must be made by a skilled watchmaker.

This was inspiring to me. My main interest in watch repair is restoration of vintage pieces, pocket or wristwatch. To know that a progressive modern school like this dedicates courses for vintage movements is incredible to me. Thanks very much for this and the links provided.

Wow, I wish I was 20 again and could make a career of this. When I was young I only know of one Watchmaker in the area and he was about 80 years old. I had no idea people could actually make a living doing this.
