    Really cool to see. In California potatoes are only in home gardens.

      2 counties south of me the soil is much lighter and there is some commercial production for Lays potato chips.

      I filmed some with it yesterday, and will do some more today. Using it to start getting peanut land ready.

    Planting at the speed of smell. But beats by hand any day. Do you cultivate any of your produce? We Just picked up a Liliston rolling cultivator. Excited to try it out.

      If you go back and watch last year’s video we planted much faster, but it was a 2 man operation (somebody has to sit on the back and babysit the pins picking up seed tators). I have cultivated peas and butterbeans. I don’t have a rolling cultivator though. I just use sweeps so i do have to travel slower than you will with those plant shields.

    Potato price have certainly been on the way up, they still say acreage will be short this year with higher prices. I don’t know if the 25% bump was enough to keep up with higher inputs.

      I sold mine $5 per 10 pound sack last year. I haven’t set price for this year yet, but I am keeping sharp eye on the costs.

    No planting taters here in OREGON, we're expecting snow tonight.

      I backed my planting up one week later than last year b/c of late freeze last season, but typically South Georgia people plant potatoes on Valentines Day.

      I’m about 2.5 hours west of Moultrie. I go to the Sunbelt Expo most years. JD got out of the potato business in the 60s (I think). I have a JD planter & a JD potato lifter. I’ll be running the lifter the end of this week hopefully

    Patrick can't remember if I asked you last year or not but do the deer mess with them or not

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  Год назад

      I have not had any deer issues on potatoes. I have been told that potato leaves have more nicotine than tobacco and could be lethal in high quantities

      @@PatrickShivers need to find a way to put that in cotton so they won't eat it

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  Год назад

      If you will recall, deer didn’t eat cotton before gen II BT (DP 555) technology. We (monsanto) have modified the genetics of it in such a way that it has become palatable to them
