I've noticed this. I'm not sure how difficult it would be, but it would be interesting to see how far along in the block they are in different shots. That would give a better "feel" for the transition and breakdown of the pattern.
Dude come on, bowling is not a sport. I bowl league with a 175 average. I have a screwed up wrist that I broke in high school on my throwing arm. I have had 4 surgeries on my back with 2 discs fused. If I can bowl, it darn sure ain't no sport. Stop kidding yourself.

I bowled 5 games two days ago after not blowing in years. Fired off a 247 and averaged 215 so can't complain. Definitely sore today from it but worth it. You guys have definitely made me want to start bowling again.

Bowling is most certainly a sport. It's actually a great workout for your legs, wrist and forearm. It's a mental game and being able to read the lane takes knowledge. People who say it isnt a sport really dont bowl.
I bowl mate and while yes it is a mental game that takes quite alot of skill it is not a sport. Saying that it is, is kind of disrespectful to the athletes who actually hurt and grind to be at a peak physical performance. Bowling takes alotttt of practice but it is not physically demanding enough. Here's a good test, if you can drink beer, and be successful at that game, then its not a sport

Hey Kyle / Brad, I’ve been following Norm ever since his first TV appearance and his first title. We are the same age. I’ve been bowling all my life and wanted to go Pro, but lifestyle wouldn’t let me. Bowled Regionals though. Anyhow, about the old man thing with aches and pains. OMG YES! I can make about 9 games a day and during that I hope my back or knee or Sciatica holds out. By the time I drive home I can hardly get out of the car. Bring on the beer ! You all keep doing what you’re doing and enjoy it while you’re young. I love the sport (yes it’s a SPORT ) so much and wish I was young again. Take care and hope you all bowl fantastic to see you on the old flat screen on Fox kickin butt!

Thanks Brad and Kyle for the video. Bowling was definitely less athletic in my prime (1970's). We only had to carry one 16 lb ball around with us. Now bowlers have to be in prime condition just to get their arsenal (weighing greatly in excess of 100 lb) to and from the tournament site and within the bowling center. To bad bowlers do not make the money that golfers do, so that they can have caddies do all the heavy lifting. 47 games in 3 days was a lot less of a workout when you only had to carry one 16 lb. ball from lane to lane.

I slipped a disc in my back about 4 months ago from bowling to much. It was also shortly after I made the switch to 2 handed. My back is fine now and I normally bowl 50-60 games a week but it is still a great workout.
I can totally relate to Kyle, I got hurt last summer and I may never be able to roll competitively again. That's why I do the sound for rock shows and take care of the family place, aka as The 7 Seas in Milford, Connecticut
I've always thought of bowling as a sport. But now that I'm retired and can keep up with these vlogs and watch the quals on FloBowling, I really appreciate how grueling the Pro Tour is. Plus it's just so much time on the road away from any home life. With that too, I wish the USBC could really get its act together in governing the sport right... so we might finally see bowling as an Olympic sport.
Won’t ever be an Olympic sport until they figure a way make sure everyone is using the same equipment. Has to be like the Teen Masters where each bowler has a plastic ball and a urethane one. Otherwise scores are too dependent on your equipment matching the lane condition.

However, no governing body alone can get this right either if proprietors don't cooperate as well. Trouble is there... if proprietors put out challenging conditions for league play, they lose business. It's a viscous circle right now.
The criteria the Olympic Committee uses is how many tickets can they sell, and how much $$$ can the Sports Organizing body pay to the committee. Too few tickets and way too much to buy in.

I hope you remember to workout to balance your core and have good chiros to keep you lined up....things hurt more after 30 and even more after 40... Norm works out still and sees a good Chiro.
3:31 gave me flashbacks of how I was fading the ball to the pocket like Norm. I literally played that exact line right over 20/21 board. I ended up placing 193rd place out of well over 10k in Standard all-events Nationals 2017 at Southpoint Casino. So much fun. I threw 10 in a row to end the first game of team event and start the 2nd game. Kyle Troup was right behind my pair too with people, he might have eye-balled at least a couple of my strikes in that 10 in a row

People look at me funny when I stretch before league. Due to my weight it takes a toll! I'm working on it and down 70 lbs. But I got a ways to go still. But I feel so much better when I stretch. OOOH! And I started using a cheap Wahl version of those massager guns you see all over. This one has a heat function. Using that to activate the quad before stretching has helped soooo much! Highly recommend something like that. Gotta take care of yourself.
yeah bowling is a tough sport, man. my busted knee and permanently bruised thumb say it all. and i'm not even bowling long-format tournaments week in, week out! some of the guys on tour may not have the physiques most associate elite level athletes with, but even those physical specimens may find it tough hanging with the grind of the pba tour

In years past, the game rewarded finesse. The modern game rewards ball speed which requires top bowlers be more athletic. All of those “impressive” messengers, if traveling 3-5 mph slower would simply be a weak 10, or 7 for lefties.
Professional bowlers are athletes. Majority of league bowlers it's a hobby. Any bowler that bowls tournaments weekly or monthly it is more of a sport their thought process is different then the league bowler. Best of luck to all of you in the house. S C Soccer, football, and baseball is different in that you have both an offense and a defense. Bowling is like Track and field in that you achieve a time, height, distance and your opponents don’t cause you to achieve a worse time, height, distance.

Bowling has "single-handedly" help me gain upper back strength and arrest the thoracic disc issue I encountered 3 years ago.

S C Soccer, football, and baseball is different in that you have both an offense and a defense. Bowling is like Track and field in that you achieve a time, height, distance and your opponents don’t cause you to achieve a worse time, height, distance.
