Sad that these medicals are so lacking in what is menopause and have so many women suffering so long. It's a shame, many are abused even to death, families job etc are destroyed am glad for that 81yr old. If the hormones fall why not treat them instead allow the suffering and going around it. The estrogen receptors are in every organ system hence the various symptoms and this also depends on the health of the various systems and it's due to the changes in these hormones. So they need to stop beating around the bush

I have yet to feel the, what I have heard/read about menopause symptoms. I am 65 and still have not had any hot flashes or discomfort. I read long ago how the Asian women's diet helped in reduced menopause discomfort. I did not want to go through what my mother went through (watching her have beads of sweat instantly show up on her forehead at any given time and other complications). So I started in my late 20's watching my food intake which also stopped the discomfort during my periods. I was amazed. When I turned 55, I noted that my period had fully stopped. I had no issues with that as well. I feel great. 🤞

We need to get the insurance companies to pay for HRT. Right now they don't. I have been on HRT since I was 63 at high amounts. $450 every 4 months. Sometimes I use an HSA card sometimes a credit card. Started working out with weights and some cardio on a regular basis at 63 also. Problem; overlooked Vitamin D element. My primary doctor was not checking this. I had to tell him to check my D and mineral levels. This should be something that is always checked yearly. Yes D and Iron was low and probably had been for years. Now have Osteopenia. The way we live now we all at any age need to check on our Vitamin D levels and push for insurance to start covering HRT.

Psychiatry and Counselling industries would crumble.
All that's needed for most women is Menopause Hormone Therapy.
Legitimate BiPolar#2/"Rapid Cycling", Schizophrenia, ADHD, etc are different. We're not talking about that.
Most women don't need to be on a cocktail of random Psychotropic medications and see a Counsellor.
They need fucking hormones so they can live well.
I'm on a bunch of Psychotropic medications that are unnecessarily tampering with my nervous system, my Neurotransmitters, my Endocrinological system, and my digestive system. I feel so unwell mentally on them as well. It's so incredibly fucked up. I can't successfully slowly taper off of them either. It's too severe. Im 53 And started regulating my hormones with bhrt at 47... I still have a regular period. My doctor was ahead of the curve thanks to early studies that seem to indicate that regulating estrogen, progesterone and testosterone levels in women were preventative in nature for osteopenia, sarcopenia and dementia. I lift weights daily, changed my dietary habits but honestly my bhrt is the real champ here. If you work out hard and eat carefully but you don't have the hormones to help sustain the building of muscle or stop the loss of bone, it won't matter what you do or eat. The elements that help make that activity and nutrition such important benefits arent there to the same degree. You only have half the answer.

This makes me sooo angry. I think I was about 37 when I had my 1st period that lasted about a week and a half. At a week, I called the doctor and got an appt. I was concerned because it was my 1st period that was off and the doctor just gave me some pills to take and shrugged it off, like it was no big deal. So when I started skipping periods, I figured why even ask. I'm now 51 and I haven't had my period in 4 or 5 years now (I've lost count). Not once has my PCP or an OB, ever said anything to me about menopause. I have been suffering for years needlessly. Then I saw this doctor an another podcast and realized my anxiety, depression, fatigue, brain fog were all attributed to something else, or I was just going crazy. The vaginal dryness and painful sex, I knew were from the menopause, but infigured a doctor would have asked me how things were when realizing I was menopausal or even when I was perri. My comment is part venting, and partly for the algorithm. Everyone must see this. My ob requested I get a clean mammogram before discussing HRT, bevause i jave a family history of breast cancer, so it sounds as if she isn't even educated in menopause.

One thing that really seems to help both my girlfriend’s and my mum is standardised hot-water Tongkat Ali root extract. It worked very well to help inhibit symptoms like hot-flashes and joint pain as well as reduce fatigue and control weight gain! Overall, after a few months of supplementation, it really improved their quality of life and I’m very thankful. From my outside perspective, she's also in a much better mood - not as cranky! 😂 She has a great general internal medicine doctor who is luckily educated in this area and absolutely thought this would help her.

With the menopause extension thing where they are trying to diminish or eliminate menopause, does that mean women would never stop their period their whole lives? Ive gotten off all mental meds, and all blood pressure meds. I already had a dexa scan. I eat right, workout and lift weights. I lost weight. I went from a size 20 to a size 6. But im getting stronger and building muscles.
My health has been the best its been since i can even remember.... i am afraid to throw a wrench in the works and i have zero clue if i should use HRT ?

The menopausa changes our blood sugar regulation.
The same applies for the hot flashes during the day. If we are able to regulate it with healthy diet ie. eating healthy carb, protein and fat together and not starving ourselves than may be our hot flashes would decrease big time🙂.

I"ve been eating 35 g of fiber most of the days easily for a very long time and I didn't know it was bloating me terribly- EVERY SINGLE TIME after i eat more than 25 g of fiber, i look "pregnant". So the 35 g recomendation of fiber per day from dr Claire is wrong. It's hard for me to reduce the amount of fiber I eat bc i like veggies, nuts, seeds so much and I also love cooked lentils. you get 16 g of fiber and 18 g of protein per 1 cup of cooked/boiled lentils. I think lentils are highly underrated. if you don't eat enough fiber, just introduce lentils into your diet and that alone will fix your fiber problem for good.

I've done two 10 week rounds of CJC-1295/Ipamorelin in the past year. It helps me a little in terms of the hard work I do with exercise and diet does start adding a bit of muscle and dropping a little fat rather than working hard and nothing happening at all. But it doesn't seem to help my sleep or cognitive symptoms. For how expensive it is, the results for me are only just barely worth it to keep me from getting discouraged because I don't see any improvement for my hard work. I just started estrogel today so 🤞🏻 that helps my sleep/mood/memory.

Hmm... I really think it depends on the lifestyle. I am 45 and have been in perimenopause since 38. The main issue that I've encountered is insomnia. I may have a hot flash every now and again and I'm fatigued from time to time, but nothing major. If you take care of yourself (eat right, workout, minimize stress) it isn't too difficult to manage. I'm a woman of color, by the way. I just hope this helps for those young women seeing all of the scary videos making you feel like you're going to suffer and come close to dying while in menopause.

Thank you. I have no reason to listen to this right now. I want to pitch a tent in 12 degree weather and go to sleep in a fur coat.

Wait until you're closer to 50. It may change. I never had an issue with weight gain or hot flashes until 49. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with it but I definitely never had any issues until 49.

You are lucky but women do need to know what might happen to be proactive. I did/do all the things you mentioned and the menopause transition and beyond has been very difficult.

Every woman experiences perimenopause/menopause symptoms slightly different. To say that it is all about lifestyle is not entirely accurate. I have been an athlete my entire life with a super healthy lifestyle & had horrible hot flashes & night sweats causing terrible sleep disruptions but once I started on HRT all those symptoms went away and I am back to my happy healthy self again! My mom on the other hand never had any issues whatsoever and also a lifelong athlete. I agree that having a baseline healthy lifestyle is always helpful but not necessarily in the menopausal symptom department. It seems that is the crazy wildcard for women unfortunately!
