- The 1956 Volkswagen Beetle was sitting for 40 years before we pulled it from it's soon to be grave. Today the metal work begins as we weld in the body bracing on the oval. Body removal to access the chassis and removing the seized engine are next. Join along on the journey of this forgotten old car revival series.

56 - that was the year I was born so treat the car with respect please!!
Never boring your vídeos. Good weekend
Thank you JCF!
Keeping, fixing or selling. Body looks good. Like the patina color. Floors, engine, wiring, upholstery, rims & tires.
Your videos are always interesting if nothing else, keep them coming…
thank you Patrick, much appreciated
Agreed I look forward to these videos
Nice Fireside Chat Jason with the “Rustic Oval” predominantly in the background!😮
I spied that old ‘65 bus on your trailer ! - that rescue of rescues with the frame collapsed…..
Yes , that was one expensive recovery !
😄 not wasting 8 minutes, better than a sharp stick in the eye!🤣
And I’d watch 8 minutes of oval anytime!✊
Thanks! Here's for helping that Oval with the bits Dignity it has left!!!; )
Richard! I was going to thank you in this vid for the Bday $ but I couldn't remember who the other person who gave was. Thank you, so you are saying I have to fix this one now haha :))
I like the restoration stuff, the welding with Larry, etc. The content is about you and your interactions, though, not necessarily the subject, aside from VWs, detailed trivia and all. The fire was very cool, also.
Always entertaining
thank you Al. always appreciated
G'day,
Happy belated birthday, man.
I hope you were treated like a King at home on your special day.
I love your channel it's always filled with awesome content.
✌️Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Thanks Straight Ahead ✌😎
Happy belated Birthday Jay and your videos are always a blast and i enjoy them take care ...
Well at least you didn't have to push the car around. I bet you that you still get a lot of views on this video J . Take care man.
well i did push it to the fire pit haha, thank you Joe , you as well
Your videos are always good, You are wicked funny and knowledgable. I look forward to seeing new content. No ,atter how sucky you think you are I can guarantee there are a lot of guys who would give anything to do what you do. Looks like you are having fun and that is what matters. You do a great job of filming and are never boring. Thanks for the entertainment. Everytime I see a bug on marketplace I think of you. Haha
thank you for the kind words ...it's been a busy week fixing all my daily driving trucks / suvs haha. Jen's Fusion left a gas puddle in the driveway as well ... I did find a nice Maxima on Thursday so we are trying to get that home for this weekend....no tow vehicles ready to haul at the moment :)
It’s always good to see another one of your videos pop up, Jason! And I love your battery powered chainsaw! I needed something for overgrown bushes here, (They had become small trees!), but my best option, back then, was one that makes me drag an extension cord around the yard! 😱😱😱 (Also… Please. Have mercy on those of us who are having a hard time with the tension of the unresolved Semaphore Question. Pretty please? 😂 OK. I’ve said my bit. Several times. Have a great weekend!) ❤❤❤
I finally got my first Beetle (ruby red '66), delivered all the way from Pennsylvania yesterday (to Kansas). I credit you in large part for all the VW knowledge I've acquired over the past year as I searched for "the one." I've been having a blast getting everything prepped for restoration. Thanks, and happy belated birthday.
🚨🚨 Step away from the welder 🚨🚨 LOL Bracing looks solid on it, I'll be by to lift it off the chassis LOL
Lucky where I live. The Beetles can and do get rusty here, but have never seen the carnage inflicted by those darn mice!
Darned nice looking fire you're sitting near. The 56 is the perfect backdrop.
Is that my sticker on your laptop?
Your vids are always good my friend. Ohhhhh an oval.
Your vids are always good regardless of what’s going on. The King of Pop style welding was very fancy. Don’t let that bug get too close to the fire, Dub will want to pay you more.
King of Pop lol! Thank you Phil and thank you for all the funny comments you leave
@@5150mxVW I appreciate the comment and I’ve been happy to add your videos to my list of diversions but very grateful that watching you doesn’t collect rust, toast output transformers, warp necks or leak water. It’s the little things. Thanks.
Wow really enjoy your videos don't knock yourself you're doing a great job. Happy birthday :-)
Well I was enjoying it.
thank you Steve
Happy birthday bud! Hope you had a good one. Great scene with the oval around the camp fire... always good for getting the vision!
thank you Mike !
get the thing going
J now knows why the ovals are known as the 'Holey" grails 😂
Weird, I thought of the Pine Cone Beetle earlier today before I watched this video.
Very nice 🥰🤙
Thank you Jason, your video's are never boring and always a pleasure to watch, I like your sense of humor! You are not just pushing cars around!
I love electric chainsaws. For short jobs they have good power. Those old VW`s must be getting scarce but it`s a lot of work and money to make nice again.
She's finally kicked you out. Stay warm by the fire and if it starts snowing or raining just climb inside the car. Enjoy life
I noticed this video was done before the haircut and it must’ve been before you sold dub works the fake panel bus . But another Great Video . Dub works is going to owe you his soul buying all these projects from you. Hope you have a great weekend.
Hi Marty, The whole fake video was basically my idea ....the 5150 plate was my idea. Neither one of us new it was converted . I thought it was funny until he never shot the outro ( we had company at the shop then wenwent home ) and cleared my name / explained for the people that didn't see the humor. He still wants the oval, you as well , thank you
Oh no! I missed your birthday Jason…..HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my favorite VW guys! 🎂🎁🎉 Hope you had a good one.
Remember pine cone beetle very well, love to see it again Jason, Think we need another tour around the vw stock you have oneday.
Just do your thing JAY....We will watch...😊...oh ya.... happy birthday young man
Any content on the '56 is gonna be great. Love it!
7:00 it may be boring too you, however it is basics and that is what beginners need...not to mention where I'm from in Aussie the rules here are very strict regarding safety...awhile parts here are more than double in price compared to what you pay! In other words in Aussie you need a lot of resources if you want to rebuild cars or restore them...custom building cars here is also frowned-upon by the authorities and if modded too much will not pass rego inspection! (synopsis)
The heater channels are not far off a UK spec RHD Beetle rust on the otherside of the pond is number 1 to look out for
Looks great
thank you Adam
@@5150mxVW np 😉
Love watching you do the restoration work
nice job.
If I had a wife as good looking as yours I wouldn't be messing with cars!
Hello sir, great job.
I made a rig that fits inside the car. It has two tubes (square) one smaller than the next, so that one can slide into the other. And when expanded to be welded or connected in place. Can be bolted tight. With bolts through both sliding pieces. If that makes sense.
This is my third car I’m working on now. And it works perfectly still.
I don’t have to find or manufacture something every time.
On the rearward part, mine has ears with holes so that it can be bolted using seat belt bolts above the rear heater channel.
Probably older cars do not have seat belts though.
Also, I have straps front and rear. So that landscape Timbers can be inserted, and using pump carts to remove the body from the pan.
So, the bracing is reusable and removable, and can be used to separate the halves.
Again thank you for sharing.
Dear 5150mxVW.
Your channel has grown a lot, Sir! Congratulations! 🎉 2) A campfire is always a nice thing to watch. 👍👌👏 Hope the complete family was sitting around it after the filming. I'm pretty sure that Josh enjoys something like that.
Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
yikes, txs for sharing...
1. Looking forward to more Larry, 2. Dubworks don't have any money or time for another car.
yes! and TRUE lol
Funniest video yet.
yep
I am quite a positive and optimistic guy .. .. .. however, next to you I absolutely pale in comparison. We agree on one thing, this car "is not terrible" - it is on its' death-bed ! ha ha ha ha. Have a good one. Best. PS PS - give it to Dubwerks for FREE, he is your mate ! LOL LOL
Happy Belated Birthday Jay, I really enjoyed this video.
thank you Brickster
Quite the project Jason. Fly on down to central FL for Bug Jam at fairgrounds in Pasco County Florida/Dade City area this weekend ! Huge event !
every year i say i'm going and here it is the weekend ....it would be cool to visit the ole Dade City Mx track again ....been a long time :)
@@5150mxVW Was a great event - huge showing of classic air-cooled vintage Volkswagens. Large turnout & a sense of community with friendly knowledgeable people !
Bad video? What are you talkin about. Oval Bug, welding sparks, wood fire, electric chain saw - How can that be bad? Crack open a Molson! 🍺🍻
Alright Jason, I am absolutely going to send you a bill for the 10minutes and 37 seconds I will never get back. And this old fart can't afford to be losing any time at this stage 😅🤣😂!! Good seeing ya again and thanks for another vidja from the VW Rescuer. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
NE Tennessee? Up around Bristol? My son and his family are in Knoxville. We lived out in West TN, 45 miles N of Jackson, for four years. Then "suburban Chattanooga," LOL, Hixson, for another 4, and then Sweetwater, most of the way to Knoxville, for 12! And if you count the four years we lived in Elvis' neighborhood, 1/4 mile north of Graceland, when I was in elementary school, I've lived 1/3 of my life in the state of Tennessee! What a life it's been! Gosh, Robin... You really tickled some memories! Have a great evening! -- And you, too, Jason! 🔥❤🔥 -- I'M A BIT FRAZZLED, THOUGH, ABOUT THAT '58 BUG! SEMAPHORE? Y/N? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW! 😂😂😂 P.S. Happy Belated Birthday, Jason! 🎉🎂 Make a wish and blow out the candles! 🎉 All the best to ALL Y'ALL!
Hey Chris, outside of Johnson City. Not too far from Bristol. Take care and hope all is well with you and yours. Glad I tickled some memories for ya. @@christophernoto
Was that just an intro? You by the fire scene was a little 'Monty Python' ish. Cool!
i was going to roast a company over an email i received but instead I decided to splice this together .
Well, I liked it. I need a small chainsaw, so that helped too.@@5150mxVW
I think you should sell it to him for 1,500 like the video big supper fan of the channel thanks
I need a 57 oval for the black widow build
This must be an old video. Your hair grew back fast.
I thought the t shirt and all the green leaves would of given that away haha
@@5150mxVW I didn't notice that. I just notice the long hair, when you were welding. Hopefully the welds are Larry approved welds.😁
Keep the 56, let the kid find his own.
haha, he might of actually found it on craigslist for me
I was hoping no poking in the rear on this one.
That vid was good. Fire, tractor and old bug. I def would not sell that for 3 k. Would be in the 7 range where I live.
He would Not sell it to you for 3
Hey!
About 8 months ago I stopped getting notifications for your channel. I don't know what happened and thought maybe your were taking some time off. I missed you guys but I'm back and clicking away trying to get caught up.
Peace
so you forgot about me 8 months lol ! Welcome back John
@@5150mxVW No! LOL I didn't forget about you! I just put too much stock in RUclips notifications. I was young and dumb and thought they always notified subscribers. I mean - why wouldn't they?
I hope you and your family are doing well. Keep being you and keep creating.
Peace
Better check the oval's not a ragtop before you sell it to Dubwerx!
Mt birthday today - Happy birthday to you !! How much do they want for that $25.00 chainsaw ?
Evening mate I'll be back
Good Evening Mr M!
Tank is still good. Just don’t fill it past a 1/4.
🤣🤣
Yeah, I liked the first 8 mins. Wanna fight about it?
i'll arm wrestle you for the VW key I owe you
@@5150mxVW you don't "owe" me a key, you're doing me a favor.....but if you wanna rassle....
👍
Sale it to dub works for 6000 lol👍
Hi, as very keen follower, do you have videos of the c as rs your refurnished after finding these wonderful cars. Could you send me a link please
can you someday go over your generator setup for welding. would like to see how much it takes to weld out there? Oh and Happy Birthday and your video was so good I didn't fall asleep. just kidding I'm sawing a log with my electric lips. Woops that didn't sound right
You can weld already with 4 car battery's.
I've seen that before but haven't tried it. I tried to use my 5250 generac generator to stick weld but not enough juice.
that one is only a 3k or 3500 cheapo from depot that is 12 years old
Must be a better welder then.
yeswelder.com/collections/welder-cutter/products/mig-welder-mig205
Well that was random. Can I have my 10 mins and change back????
I back
Give the 56 to your mate Dubwerks and save your marriage.
I am shocked, shocked I tell you. You have a nice campfire going, and you didn't toast any marshmallows? Now come on.
maybe on the next one, i have a fire all the time in the winter :)
😄
I don't understand....what's so bad about this video, lol? I think it's just fine. Like I said to #MrHevyShevy, "If I want to watch an orderly video, I watch "Legit Street Cars" - if I want to watch videos done the way I'd do them, I watch you." I don't even edit the videos I've done, to be honest, and they may never see the light of day😁
$3,000 sounds like a deal for the '56, even with a stuck engine.
Is Newbugh to far away for you?
117 miles
@@5150mxVW you didn't answer my question. I heard a rumor about an oval window rotting away on a farm over here.
man, blurry vision ...not for an oval haha
Just thought I'd ask.
Lol
To Dubwerks??? $4,000.00 after his video accusing you of tricking him with the panel.
This video is not Larry approved.
Mmm picking apart a 56 ovel and seeing undisturbed rust is pure rust porn for 21st century aficionados of holes due to dialectical disonace over time....
Boring
yep, exactly what i said on the outro
