  • A quick demonstration comparing the dicosimo preamp running into a powered 361 cabinet and a full Acoustic 360/361. This was recorded through a smart phone so please use headphones or decent speakers for best results, but note that the quality of recording is necessarily limited by the equipment used.

    I saw Weather Report at the Fox in St. Louis in 1976 and the PA system went down during the first song and stayed down. The band soldiered on and finished the gig. I saw Jaco crank up his 371 with 2 cabs and the sound filled the 4500 seat theater. The projection of that folded horn was unreal.

    Bought one of these slightly used around 1970 and used it extensively for the next 15 years with my '65 Fender Jazz. Best sounding bass amp/bass guitar combo ever, IMO. The great aspect of that amp was the 18" reflex speaker which maintained an even, quality sound whether you were 10' away or 100' away.

      I share your opinion. That would have been THE combination.

    360 was my 1st amp, good enough for Jaco, no one complained. I really do not care to lug the 360 and the cabinet, so this is a awesome option. Fuzz is great.

      Thanks for the feedback - I figured it might come in handy for someone looking at the DiCosimo pedal. I think he does a great job of making the preamp into a pedal format.

    BASS player here, do not forget, as electronics aged,. it degrades and sound change occur....
    that's why I don't mind old amps !!
    This pedal ROCKS !!! You ROCK !!!

      I love the 360's. I think part of the magic is the 361 speaker and power amp - but I've never A/B's it. that might be another project to compare a 360 through a few different amp combinations.

    Actual 360 sounds like it has more bark in the midrange around 700Hz or so but both sound absolutely killer. Beautiful Jazz bass by the way! I’m a sucker for a matching headstock!

      The mid range in these 360's is awesome, it's what makes them project the way they do.

    Nice video! I have the Acoustic 360 on my HX Stomp as "Woody Blue". It's by far my favorite amp model.

    great video. The real 360 has a bit of airiness to it that the Dicosimo doesn't have, but pretty darn close! Enough that anyone in the audience would never hear a difference.

    Great test ! So much of the sound has to do with the 361 cab, though. That would be hard to recreate going direct. I used to own 2 rigs as well.. Should have kept one !! Nothing like the reverse 18" !!

    • @chrisbradley2599
      @chrisbradley2599  2 года назад

      The cab is definitely part of the equation. I have a few spare 361 power amps. One of these days I'll compare the 360/361 with a 360/361 power section through a completely different speaker and a/b the results.

    • @sess122

      Agree. This amp was designed with the 18" reflex speaker to project an even sound, up close or far away for live use without the need to run it direct, although that was certainly an option, The pre-amp by itself also had great sound quality. I recorded with it many times using just the pre-amp and always got a great sound.

    Excellent comparison Chris! Did you make a Kemper profile of your original Acoustic 360/361? There's a whole world of people looking for it - including myself! If you haven't, but are interested, I'd be happy to come over with my Kemper and profile it with you!

      I took a Kemper profile of the Acoustic 360, but only clean. I also have a kemper profile for the extremely rare Traynor YBA3A. I'm happy to share them. I don't know how to post it here unfortunately.

      @@chrisbradley2599 Also, posting your Kemper Profiles to the Kemper Rig Exchange is a great way for people to discover you and your RUclips channel. Plus, they're something you can offer your subscribers just by adding links in the description. Something to consider. Thanks again!

    Is the pedal going direct to the power amp section of the head? How does it sound going through a different power amp?

    • @chrisbradley2599
      @chrisbradley2599  Год назад +2

      I had it going direct to the power amp section of the cabinet. The speaker and amp are part of the magic of the 360/361. There will be some difference in tone using different amps and cabinets.

    Dunno, this pedal sounds a little bit thin compared to original amp.

    • @chrisbradley2599
      @chrisbradley2599  11 месяцев назад

      That might be the cab in relation to the microphone and the limitations of the equipment I used. I didn't find it thin when I a/b'd them I could get very close in tone. That's not meant to take away from what you're hearing just a comment on why you might hear it differently than I did.
