So Basically, when YVRR (the ones who operate the Mt Airy Line) get in enough freight to actually warrant a run to Mt Airy, they'll come up here. lately its been about every other week but that isnt guaranteed and the day of the week they run is dependent on if the K line (YVRR's other line which runs everyday) is busy. Time wise, they're usually here by 11-12 that day but that is also not guaranteed. They Did recently get another Customer here in Mt Airy which will be getting loads in about every other week so maybe you'll get a chance to see them then!. As I've said... It depends on if the costumers order and if the K line isn't busy. Hoped this helped. (unfortunately Mount Airy doesn't make enough money to send trains up here every week so in true shortline fashion, it's a special occurrence when it does happen. Maybe though with the new customer they'll run more often to here)
@@DixieRailfanner6133 Okay thanks for the information! I have an appointment to go down to Mt Airy in April not long after I railfan at Rural Retreat VA (NS’ Pulaski District) and Charlottesville depending on if I have time to catch a train on CSX or NS/Amtrak up in that area. I figured they didn’t run as much as they did but hopefully this new customer will make them run more often!
Your welcome! Hope you have fun with that railfan trip. Yeah, it's true trains dont go through Mt Airy as often as they used to which is said for railfans like me. Just depends on If all those factors I mentioned come together... Thats what warrants a run up to MA. Thanks for reaching out, always good to see others wanting to railfan little ol' Mayberry
I think it is unsafe to be taking photos videos of these trains. I am sure this railroad would not appreciate their employees being in these videos and being distracted is unsafe. That is an issue FRA needs to uptake with railfans and these railroads to not allow is unsafe and a privacy concern.
You need to find another job if your so concerned about the general public filming you since the company you work for along with the FRA is doing the same only more closely. Probably your best interest to resign.
@user-xi4fk7ep5x I’m a conductor for this railroad and let me just say this… everything your saying, is a lie. This Kid does not hurt us one bit and we kinda enjoy him being trackside. And I’ll even go as far to say this: you either love the job or you hate it; and this kid is our only hope that maybe someone will step up to the plate when we are dead and gone, so shut your mouth kindly
