brought back lots of memories - and quite a few things I did not remember after all this time. Was my twice a week trip for years beginning in late 87 when working parttime at Avis rentacar at the airport ... almost expected to see myself in my bright red uniform
The German railway system differed greatly from its American counterpart. While the American trains were slow and tended to rock you like you were in a cradle, the German trains were fast and smooth... so fast in fact that if you didn’t have a seat or grabbed a strap, you’d find yourself rolling down the aisle before you knew what was happening. I made that same trip on many occasions. As far as money was concerned, we were urged from Day 1 to get your Deutschmarks on base instead of downtown, as the exchange rate was much better on base.

Glad you liked the video!
Wish there were 4k cameras back then, this would really be even more awesome!
Thanks for sharing the memories.
87? Lol! I might have been on the same train! Did that so many times! Except, I would walk to Zepplinhiem, catch the bahn from there.

These trains (class 420) were well known for their good acceleration (0-120 km/h in 40 seconds).
