You probably want to play a civ with good archer spam capabilities and go all in feudal with his knights + your archers. English and Delhi are the best for that IMO. Another option is to play a boom civ that can win in imp on its own (Like ottomans) and then have your friend defend you in feudal with knights while you fast imp.
Depends on your rank but I say English is good if you like them. Fairly cookie cutter civ. Can do MAA dark age. Can do King harass. Can do mass long bows. Can do long game turtle and have farms for infinite gold. And if you bring a vil or two when attacking to make a tower for the aura, you are automatically at an advantage against your opponent if both got relatively the same army.
