Sealing bags with an iron

I taught myself how to seal plastic bags for craft supplies that needed a closed bag. Here is a quick tutorial on the method I found worked best.

I was about to purchase an Impulse sealing machine online to seal small items when I decided to open another browser and search on youtube for a DIY sealing bags. I watched your video and immediately decided to do it your DIY way and it saved me money too. You won’t be saving money in the long run. A heat sealer does the job 3/4 times faster. Time is money.

This worked amazingly well! I am surprising a friend with a care package. In it, I put Party Mix, but I wanted to take out the chips he doesn't like and fill it with all the chips he does like. It resealed the chip bag surprisingly well. Thank you! I think he's going to love his surprise!

I am trying to make an ice bag specifically for my laptop so that it doesn't overheat
of course, gonna be using a towel around the keyboard so that the *condensed water* doesn't leak into the keyboard and do water damage

Neat idea. If I were to do this lots, I would spend the $20 for a plastic bag sealer, like iTouchless BR001U Bag sealer. Just glue a magnet on the back and hang it on the fridge. It also works for chip bags.

If I'm welding plastic film with an iron I use a fan, or fan heater on cold, to blow away any fumes. Just a thought

Think that would work, it is more to protect the iron from melted plastic anyway so it should be ok.
