What is your general rule for setting a stop to not follow to close where it stops out but gives it enough room to fluctuate between support and resistance. A video on this would be much appreciated.

MSTX is a disaster for me. Sold Jan 3 $60 Puts and now a surprise $14.2 dividend ex div 12 31. So I will be assigned today or by Friday at $40 and also NOT get the dividend. Feel like a complete fool and had no idea of this dividend that is called capital gain distribution elsewhere. Hard lesson to learn

@@seanlowe4557the percent shows they are anywhere from 20% down to 230% down. Not sure if they are accurate because I already rolled them all in November and December. I got into these when the share price was around $120-130 I think. I was expecting the Santa rally but not Powell saying he is not going to give us 4 rate cuts but just 2.

The dividend will be paid on 1/3. It dropped by $14 due to ex dividend date. We have to see what Bitcoin does and hopefully we see a bounce soon. Tough day for sure.

The platform doesn't matter as much as you being able to paper trade until you become consistent, then trade with a small account that you can afford to lose, and don't size up until you become consistent. To some that amount is 200.00, to some that amount is 1,000.00 to some that amount is 5,000.00 you get it I'm sure. I started with Think or Swim, it is great for paper trading. I'm only six months in, but have learned so much.
What did you do with your $300,000 loss on MSTR? Your previous shares and the purchase of shares at peak with that covered call. Did you purchase 100 shares at 420? And, now MSTR is at around 339, How did you manage it?
PLTR is still heading down today- you may be able to buy it back at minimal loss OR Roll out much farther and move your strike price up. sometimes better to take a small loss than keep a bad contract. ive done the same before- you wont do it again for sure
One thing I'm begining to think is you need to already have money to make money. The rich only become richer. You aren't getting financial stability from a $100 initial investment. And unless you lie on the application saying you have 1m net worth with 20 years experience, you aren't unlocking options. So I just feel stuck.
The markets are going to start flying. Around inauguration, January 20th will be more than 30 days from December 18th. All of the money from tax loss harvesting will be getting back into the markets.
I think it's very important that everyone understands, and correct me if I'm wrong, Ashley... You guys use a stop loss? That's one of the most important factors because when you say the stock went the wrong way, a stop loss would knock everybody out before they lost more money than their trading plan and stop loss allowed. 🙏🙋🤙😇

Some prefer to sell calls and you can't do both stop losses and sold calls but stop losses are always encouraged! Especially trailing stop losses.
