The first time I saw this video, I was like "omg. I'll finally be able to afford playing the shamisen." It's been a dream of mine since I was 12. I'm 22 now 👏👍 THANK YOU KYLE ABBOT
hahahaaa!!! I can't believe I only just came across this... This video is so you Kyle!! I think my favorite part was the waves crashing on you and the Shamisen... Pure gold!
Yaay! Thank you, Floop! :) Honestly, it really is tons of fun to play! (It turned out way better than I expected when I started building them a year ago)
This is some amazing news! It comes to about £400 (inc. import taxes/fees, as of writing). For the Best buddy pack, albeit with the black Hibiki sawa. Literally half I've seen incomplete, sometimes broken Shamisen go for. If I didn't have one that literally only needs reskinning, I would totally have bought one. But having a ready-made kit and courses on my Bachido account is mighty tempting still...
I am an American and I’ve never even learned guitar but I’d really love to learn how to play the Shamisen and Guitar and Ukulele but especially the Shamisen. It has such a nice sound. It’s like a Banjo but more percussive sounding.
That's great! In my opinion, shamisen is a bit easier to learn than guitar. :) (fewer strings, easier to press down) I've held some workshops where attendees had no prior musical experience and within two hours they were playing traditional Japanese folk songs on shamisen. Granted, the shamisen's large plectrum can be awkward at first, but overall I find fewer strings easier to wrap my head around. :-P Also, as you suggest, the combination of being percussive and melodic is greatly satisfying!
@@TsugaruShamisen I own a Yukata by the way. I got it in Japan. I also can speak Japanese. I wouldn't say I'm fluent but I've been studying since 2015. I just need more immersion. I need to meet more Japanese speaking friends.
@@TsugaruShamisen The first time I ever heard a Shamisen was on the Wii would like to play commercial. The song used was Kodo (Inside The Sun Remix) by Yoshida Brothers. I fell in love with the sound when I first heard it as a kid back then.
@@TsugaruShamisen I no longer want to learn guitar because I've basically fallen for the ukulele completely. I still want to eventually learn shamisen though.
You really made my day! I think I might get one for Christmas for myself! Though, what's the difference between the basic and best shamibuddy? Do you still use fibersen?

When will new pieces be made for 2021?
I want to buy a shamibuddy 😍
Hi! I'm hoping to start building the next batch in early 2021, so hopefully they will be ready around Late 2021. :-) Thank you!!
I think you guys should make a tsugaru style of the shami buddy with sawari azuma

Just a question: do any doukake or neo fit it? Y'know, for the aesthetic™
Good question! A neo won't due to the size of the spike, but a nagauta doukake should fit. :)
WooHoo!!!
