Think "classically trained violinist" and words such as shred, dubstep, and electronica don't usually flow into one's mind. Unless, of course, the musician in question is Lindsey Stirling, who's built a remarkable and mostly word-of-mouth following due to her fierce, genre-bending approach to the fiddle, with which she stirs up some fairly crazy (and totally danceable) mixes.
Stirling rose to viral prominence off of the strength of her equally eclectic videos; in particular, her mesmerizing clip for "Crystallize." To say she's popular on RUclips is an understatement: Stirling's channel has more than 3 million followers and has passed the 400 million mark in views.

I agree with you. I'm not a great fan of dubstep, so imho this version is much much better than the original. This is so epic.
I really love her orchestral versions as well, only some dubstep songs work well.

She created something unique with the dubstep violin mix. I think this is the reason why she got popular and known. Probably if she only did versions like this, only a few people would notice, because we can find classical orchestral music in every corner :)

I clicked it.. and I was like.. I heard this a million times!! she is the one responsible for it!!! wow!!!.. I was totally blown over by her album...

It feels like they took the Elements Orchestral version and Transcendence (even though the orchestral for Transcendence came out in 2014!) and put it with Crystallize live performances and made them all have a baby!
The orchestral version of transcendence was on the target exclusive version of her first album (as was this song) from the beginning. The video just didn't come out until this year.

I also feel like with the orchestral version it just gels together better, and there is more warmth and emotion. I love the dubstep version too really exciting, upbeat and fast-paced. Just something more epic about orchestral.

Crystallize is not a dubstep song. It contains dubstep in the background, making it really cool and unique, but that doesn't make it a "dubstep song." Dubstep by itself is generally awful.
I'm pretty sure she classifies Elements as a dubstep song, although I agree with you that dubstep is generally awful.
Last month she was in Portland again it was amazing
I practice gym at sport in high school and for our dance the teacher always put a music during the class and it's one of them,when i listened to it i fell in love with, like some said it's the perfect anime fight song and wow it's mermerizing ! but i would like the version alone i think there are others in this version but i can't find it :/

I liked the first one so much I created a mashup Lindsey Stirling feat Erykah Badu and Eminem 2103 dubstep remix . I'm really grateful to you for that but I must admit I may even like this version more. It's epic and superb. Now the word dubstep brings more people in as a natural trend, but with the right time people will notice how good this version is. Also, this version makes me wonder how this would sound with a lyrics vocalist like Tarja Turunen or someone who has her tones. But I'm not a pro audio engineer, so this time I'll just put this input in the mist. Good luck with your great work, you are an excellent player and an all to admire woman. Bless

how badly does youtube compress the audio? I feel like I'm not hearing everything clearly. Highs are great but there is no separation on the low end and then once the epicery hits (it's a word), the sound gets distorted and muddy. Anybody else hear what I'm talking about?
RUclips is definitely compressing the audio, but low notes naturally carry a bit worse than high notes. It may be that the lower notes are harder to distinguish because this is a live performance recorded instead of a studio version that is much easier to clean up/edit.

Finally found a version without the dubstep. I really like the song, but the dubstep just kills it for me. I feel it throws the song off balance and stops it from being truly great :/
