I would take the cutout and add small hinges, and add sizable air filter and door will have a small spacer to keep filter in place, with rubber seal around all edges. like that water block idea too.
I like your style Jon, thanks for the tutorial! I, along with many others, have been having the whole wet passenger floorboard issue, so this will be on my list of projects when it warms up and dries out a bit later this spring/summer. Right on!
Right On! 🙌 Thanks for the nice note. Yes, no more fish swimming on the passenger side floor! 😄 🐠
Exactly, hopefully not! Oh and that NASTY mildew smell when you first climb in!
Oh, by the way, you got a new sub from me.
Creo que es la mejor explicación y solucion para ese problema. Yo lo intenté sellando solamente y el problema continuó. Voy a tratar nuevamente. Gracias.
Great Fix Mr. Jon. I have owned a few Jeeps and "Damn Jeep" describes them perfect pilgrim! 🙂
Right On! 🙌 Thanks Big Vic! Yeah, it’s takes a licking and kinda keeps on ticking! 😄😂
What a fantastic fix Jon! So many drain holes in vehicles get plugged up after years. Great stuff! 😃👍
Right On! 🙌 Thanks John! Yeah I was surprised there were so many pine needles down there!! Crazy! 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
Nice fix Jon. I think it is now sea worthy.
Right on Randy! 👍 Thanks. That 3m 5200 is some good sealant. 🛥️
VERY cleaver fix JON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A man after my own heart. I know your from Jersey, and I'm from PA, we call it something differnt back east LOL
Ha! Right On! 🙌 Thanks Matt!
That was a great fix. I had a 1992 cherokee 2 door. I wish i still had it. I employeed a bit of mechanical jiu jitsu against my 1992 f150 recently. I was getting water on the passenger floorboard, so i drilled a hole in the floor 😂. Cheers
Right On! 🙌 I have not had a leak since I did this fix. I also had to clean out the drain holes close to the fenders. Mine had pine needles and dirt in them.
@@RightOnJonCrane Exacto, algo parecido a las agujas de pino, pero de un árbol local y tierra también. Saludos.
Nice job i.have had mine opened up twice and it still leaks, and it takes a long time to defogger in the morning Thanks Right On.
Your the real handyman!😃
Nice fix Jon! Its to bad that you have to repair engineering flaws on your jeep. Nobody wants a vehicle with a built in swimming pool. Lol. Right on Jon! ✌🇺🇸
Right On! 🙌 Thanks Roger! The test of time didn’t work out on this one.
@@RightOnJonCrane Very sorry to here that Jon , it looked like you had all the bases covered. 🤔
@@rogermcdonald1607 Oh my repair worked great! I was referring to the 24 year old Jeep engineering! 😂😄
@@RightOnJonCraneso you say this DID remedy the swamp land passenger floorboard issue? I’m about to do the same thing if so; I thought it might have been the wiper arm pivots or even the passenger front door weatherstrip seal not coming down far enough. My weatherstrip seems to be in good shape and factory but it doesn’t look like it extends far enough down the door hinge edge which with the fuse block being there also doesn’t seem well thought out 🤦🏻♂️😅. Love the vehicle but geez. I’ll follow your example if it was effective. Thanks for sharing brother
@@MidnightOilsRestoration Yes this fix worked great! I’ve never had a drop of water on the passenger side since. When you open it up there are drain holes that get clogged up with debris. Be sure to clean them out as well.
NICE VIDEO.
I tried this exact same thing but couldn't get my hand over the cold air intake to get to the fender side, didn't think of cutting it down. What was that tape that you used?
Right On! 🙌 Yes that helped to cut it down. A good tip is to blow out the drain holes close to the fender when you are there. This repair fixed the problem. No more wet floor and I’ve had some heavy rain 🌧️. The tape is butyl window flashing tape made by Vycore! Very sticky. Good to put down with a heat gun. Thanks for watching!
Good job Thanks. I bet’s taking out the dash.
Right On! 🙌 Thanks! Yeah that’s a big job pulling out the dash. This worked great and is doing good after a long winter of heavy rain in the Pacific Northwest 🌲 🌧️
Nice thanks
Sometimes the leak is coming from the blower motor gasket
good content, you think well on your feet...how's Momy Kat...
Thanks Tom! Mama cat is living the high life! 🙌✨
A great video, thanks... How were your results? My '00 is wet on the DRIVER'S side, and I've been having minor electrical problems. Do you think it could be leaking from THAT side of the canyon? Or maybe the water is traveling across? Anyway, thanks for the suggestions... the job looks a bit scary.
Check the fuse box. They often leak from behind it.
Should be good for at least another 20 years now............This reminded me of a car I had where the AC condensation drain got clogged and every time I whipped around a corner on a hot day I'd get about a pint of ice cold water directly on my foot.
Is it still working well? Just discovered a wet passenger floor in my 96.
Yes! I have not had a leak since this repair. Be sure to blow out the drain holes close to the fender so water can get out. Mine had pine needles stuck in the drain holes.
Did it work lmk thanks
This fix worked great! No leaks. Also a good tip is to blow out the drain holes in the corners so the water can get out. My passenger floor is nice and dry and I live in WA state where it rains all the time! 🌧️
Awesome, just now saw this response. 🙏thanks
Nice
After trying this fix, it didn't work for me. Spent weeks searching and finally located the leak. It was in the bottom corner of the windshield seal on the passenger side. The hole was visible and I filled it with a shot of silicone. It was allowing water to drip onto the inside of the firewall. Hopefully this might help someone else.
Yes I’m thinking that’s where mine is coming in also! I noticed that in the video here his had stainless trim around the windshield where mine doesn’t have that at all. Mine is a 97’ so maybe that was changed in the design. The thick rubber mat that covers the entire firewall is making it kinda tough to really see where the issue is but my windshield seal has shrank for sure and at the corners it almost appears to be a perfect spot to seep in both at the top-right where the drip-rail gutter can funnel it right into the top corner…or bottom right where it all comes to a point 🤦🏻♂️! Love this Jeep but this swamp-ass floorboard+sour/mildew smell is for the birds! My carpet has been out for a month now!
Is there a correct way to do this without cutting?
Not really, the water block You can do without cutting though.
Same on 95s?
How is it holding up?
The repair worked great! No leaks. I think it’s important to make sure the drain holes are not clogged. I should have pointed that out better in the video. Mine had pine needles in them! Thanks for watching! Right On! 🙌
