If unsubscribe is a single click without confirmation, anti spam software might unsubscribe accidentally just by following the link

I never knew the sender was aware when I mark as spam.

Actually thought this would be about YT unsubscribing you.

The number of times I've seen YT'ers say, "check if you are still subscribed" lol.

In Gmail, it asks do you want to unsubscribe when you mark as spam

Only for newsletters that are sent with the (usually unseen) header that gives Gmail the information about HOW to unsubscribe.

There’s a dealership about a 1000 miles away that has emailed me tons of information on a new car that I’ve never purchased (& never will), it’s a bit disturbing considering it’s just 7 letters there’s no other way to spell the name, & now I’m getting all their receipts. I wasn’t able to communicate their mistake, so I unsubscribed to every one of them. Do you think there will come a time when there’s a button next to the “unsubscribe” button that’ll alert them to an error?

Unlikely. Someone used my email address when expressing interest in a specific model of car. I got a flood of sales messages trying to get them to engage and/or buy. Unsubscribed from all. That's all you can really do. They assume people know how to type in their own email address properly.
