- Part of Staffordshire's industrial past was on show at Chasewater, the Stafford based locomotive builder Bagnall being prominent. Two of the locos in service were significant in that 0-4-0WT 'Willy' celebrates its 100th birthday this year and the diesel 'Ley's' is the penultimate locomotive to be built by Bagnall.
This was another of Chasewater's excellent gala's and I hope that this video portrays this delightful line to good effect. I followed my usual practice of catching the train from Brownhills and walking back, filming as I went. Looking at the rural setting it's hard to imagine that this area, the Cannock Coalfield, was once dotted with collieries and criss crossed with the railway lines that served them.
My day was made all the more enjoyable by spending it with my old friend Brian Murphy (SYKAROST).
I had no particular interest in industrial railways until, that is, I made my first visit to Chasewater. If you haven't visited this delightful line then you must surely add it to your 'must do' list.
Very nice to watch all this. My childhood hobby.
Great ingenuity of British and I believe they are heros of world that understand.
this is great! thank you for posting these beautiful trains and lovely countryside !
Lovely and cute Loco's loved every single one of them. ❤❤
A railway where all the engines can be described as cute! Love it! :-)
It has a different atmosphere to any railway that I know.
What a cute little thing that well tank is. Don't you want to put it in your pocket and take it home.
Absolutely. It reminds me of a miniature Beattie.
Yes I want one.....
How many mm is the steam railway gauge, please?
Lovely coverage of this delightful railway Alan, I almost felt I was there with you...... Oh yes, I was and very enjoyable it was too. I usually include a 'water shot' but I forgot this time so you get the bonus points lol. Take care mate, best regards, Brian.
Thank you Brian. I was wondering about your missing 'water shot' then realized that you'd been racing to beat me to the draw! Thanks for your company, most enjoyable. Warm regards Alan
No Alan, I was enjoying the day so much I completely forgot & wouldn't cheat by using an old 'library clip' so have the perfect excuse to return!! Cheers, Brian.
Lovely video of a delightful railway, thanks Alan. Some really good clag from the steam-hauled goods! Loads of variety with top quality video and audio throughout. A very nice touch at the end to emphasise the location! If only this were local to us. Kind regards, Bob.
Thank you Bob, it is a beauty and only ten minutes from home. Regards Alan
I believe these are oil based steam locos.
Finally, I found a video about trains that Thomas the tank engine characters were based off of lol.
Very nice video. What day did you go? as I was here on the Saturday and Monday, being one of the owners and keen rail enthusiast.
Thank you. I was there on the Monday, 28th. Great gala, well done!
