The final shape Rover took was nothing short of BRILLIANT and added to the "uniqueness" of "The Prisoner."
    Be seeing you.

It's why most of us younger fans even remember the show. Seeing that white sphere rise up out of the depths of the ocean was an image that has been burned into my synapses since I was like 5.

Unfortunately for all of us in the western world we are all living in the village and social media is rover.

I'm personally happy the series ended up with the weather balloon. It resulted in some extremely eerie scenes.

I was recently watching "Don't Knock Yourself Out", the great documentary that is part of the 40th aniv DVD collection. And I got a great kick out of Bernie Williams discussing this in it. There is a sequence where he is talking and it goes something like this:
"So I said Pat, what is Rover? And Pat said well Rover can climb walls, go out over the ocean, it can go over everything! And I said "Pat, I don't know WHAT THAT IS"

And then Pat shrugged and said, "Have you tried being an artistic visionary like me? It'll help."

Oh my - I always wondered how those scary balloon things came about. Well done.

Inside Rover was a giant hamster, but they will never tell us about that.

For anyone who hasn't yet seen the original 'rover', there is an excellent documentary on the series (The Prisoner - behind the scenes)
that shows actual footage of it. I've put the link below, and the Rover segment can be viewed from 30:20. I would however recommend watching the documentary in it entirety as it is rather good.

This link.is blocked in the UK. This still works though: ruclips.net/video/iDmfjtuwh2s/видео.html
I'd often wondered what the robot looked like, but just as importantly we get to see the concrete boat and the view from Portmeirion.

Or maybe the dark side of the moon .
Certainly looks lunar. I have the feeling that much of its origin story is misinformation..but I may be wrong.

This, and all the rest of the clips that begin with a title on a blue background, are likely part of a larger comprehensive effort. Does anyone know the title of it?

Most of the technology in the Prisoner has been surpassed except for the silly / strange remote controlled (or self-aware quasi-intelligent), unexplained high speed, floating bubble robots called the "rovers".
