I love my 5 year old Forma Adventures. Since they contain genuine leather, I treat them with Dubbin once a year at the beginning of each season. I like how they keep my feet dry in the rain and also seem to wick away moisture in very hot weather.
I do need to get better about oiling every winter.
Dubbin, in my experience, really seals out the water. You can take a regular pair of boots and get them really water resistant. I can't say it allows the boots to breathe (wick away moisture from your foot) but they don't seem as hot as gore Tex. It could also have been my mountaineering socks keeping them comfortable.

Hi everyone, this video was sort of long overdue because I've been riding with Forma boots for a long time and never talked about the pros and cons. I've logged thousands of hours in their boots and look forward to breaking in a new pair. I did not receive any discounts from Forma for these boots and they didn't ask me to make this video.
I have the brown GS boots from BMW. I’m pretty sure they are OEM Forma brand

Those look nice and an affordable option I’ve not seen. I love my Sidi Adventure 2s as I need a more stable ankle from sports fatigue when I was younger. Those things are bullet proof. My MX Sidi boots have had the shit beat out of them and besides a broken buckle from a hard wreck, no sagging or reliability issues.
I have wide feet and fat calves (soccer); tried at least 2 or 3 pair of boots when I got my 1200 GSA in 2016; returned all until I finally got the FORMA Adventure low. Very happy with them, extremely comfortable and holding up great. Will buy again.
I agree with you there. These have been the most true-to-size for me and I can wear them all day and they're just so damn comfortable.
I have the Adventure low also, 5 years old and I like them also.

I was looking at the Terra EVO and Terrain Enduro. After seeing your review I think I'll lean to the Terrain as I'm just getting back into riding and looking for a little more protection.(in anticipation for a few offs😉)

Awesome. I have heard of people who have leaks but it seems pretty rare. The new boots are a 60$ premium over the old but with the improved laminated material, they should be better but like you, I've never had an issue with the others letting water in.
@@AdamChandler86 I've ridden in some pretty dire rain and my feet stayed dry. The BMW Boxer helps as the cylinder heads keep a lot of the crap off my feet ;-)
I have been tempted to get the new Forma boots. They cannot be bad since Forma, a few years ago, made the BMW GS enduro boots which are great but forget about walking in them. They are way to stiff for me. I guess your review is convincing me to try Forma. Cheers

Made my mind up after this video and bought some today. Good old E Bay.
Not really seen anything bad about them on a few videos .They have been around a few years so stood test of time. My road boots last around 1 year daily use.
So if I get 2 years I'm going to be happy for what they cost.

Be safe and I hope you enjoy the boots. I've used Formas since 2015 I think. they age like normal boots but given how much I get out of them and wear them 4 days straight camping, hiking, riding, you can't beat 'em.

You'll probably get a higher safety factor in the Tech 7s. they have a lot more rigidity.

I bought my Forma Poker (high road boots) 2 years ago and did with them ca 18000 km for everyday commuting and monthly travels - always staying dry. This week I was backing from Bulgaria to Poland throu Romania in all-day rain. Unfortunately after 3 hours something happend and both my boots started leaking - first I start felt cold and then at gas station all stichings starts looking like sponge: bubbles and water gets out from them. Formas are made in Romania - it's a pity that I didn't think to buy a new pair of Adventure or Terra directly from manufactuter ;)
All of the Forma Adventures I think are made in Italy. So far, My experience is no leaking or water issues at all on 5 pairs of boots over the last 8 years (different models). I love mine. So sorry you had an issue.
I bought the adventure lows so I could walk a lot when off the bike. Sitting in my living room they feel good. I am on a Vstrom , so no real off road plans...just gravel.
My wife has the adventure low boots and loves them. I will probably end up buying some as they are more flexible like you said when not riding all day.

The Forma Adventure short boots are great everyday boots
im got my forma lows in 2018 server me well they do leak now but i just order brend new ones same farma lows they are so comfy best boots for me
5 years of abuse is pretty good though for the water proofing. I get about 4 years out of mine.
I ride with these on my 850gs. Great for touring but as you say the ankle support isn't the best. I may try the sidi adventure 2 next as they aren't much more here in the U.K. and I think give a bit more protection. Good review though Adam 👍
Same. forma is good enough and price is right but I'm hoping another brand can be a bit better in some ways. I would like a boot that lasts 5 years instead of 3-4.
@@AdamChandler86 mine are 2 years old and like carpet slippers now but I do worry about an ankle injury if I came off. I wouldn't wear them off roading myself and think motocross boots are the way to go for that. It's always a trade off with comfort v protection I guess

I've been searching all over for reviews on these boots and I just happened across this video after hours of searching. I just ordered the Terra EVO's earlier today, probably should have gone with Gaerne the Forma Terrain TX or Sidi. I wonder if flat feet cause the sag, and you should try the Sidi crossfire or Gaerne SG's the hard enduro guys say they last why longer than 3 years.

I'm looking at new boots and found this quite helpful. I'm a GS rider who probably won't do that much offload riding. But I do want reasonable stability and safety. Some questions. 1. If you didn't do offroad riding would you still get "adventure" boots versus touring boots? 2. And if yes, would you stick with tall boots versus low? 3. Finally, can you easily hike around off the bike with these? Thanks! Again, great vid!
Howdy Brad. These are definitely touring friendly. Never leaked, very comfortable. You can walk around in them all day. I wore these for 12 straight days and didn’t pack any other shoes. .They were livable. My GF has the low model and she likes them but I prefer the tall...guesss it comes down to preference. These are definitely more road than off road but they hold up to abusive sharp foot pegs and a lot of standing.

Fantastic review!! I was looking at buying some, and was considered the new drytex ones.. But to be honest after your review I'll probably go with the old style waterproofing and save some money 👍👍 keep up the great work!!
Thanks Lee. Yep, I've now used HDry and Drytex for a year and see no discernible difference between the two. Both great shoes and both have remained waterproof even walking through rivers & streams.

8:05 - Now to be perfectly fair, a female pair would naturally have much smaller dimensions than a male version. So, for a much more accurate comparison, same size and gender of the low and high cut boots should be used which then, I reckon the difference would be much less if there is any at all. Just my opinion.
I think it's fair though that I mention I bought all of these boots full price. Someone that got these for review purposes would have a lot more selection to showcase but then could you trust their opinion? My wife currently only has one pair of Forma boots (the adventure low) so that's the only one I was able to show here.
How was the fit as far as number? I want to order these boots but I don't know which size to get and where I live makes it very difficult to do exchanges. Normally I order dress shoes, sneakers, hiking boots in a US10 Would you recommend getting a size larger or do they run true to size?
My Nike Shoe size is a 13 and that's what I ordered and it's true to size. GF is size 10 women and that's the boot she ordered and same..perfect fit so I'd say if you have nikes that fit you, go with that size. Good luck!
In this video, you made the same mistake as most other boot reviewers: they never show the shape of their feet. All people have different feet, so what is comfortable for one person may be extremely uncomfortable for another.

Very good review. I'm in the market for a boot. Although I mainly ride sport atvs, hardcore trail riding, and hillclimbs. At first I was going to get alpinestars tech 5's but after seeing these I love the look and how ppl say they are better off the bike than an mx boot. Do you think the forma terra exo x version will be good for what I do? The waterproofing is another big selling point for me as well. Thanks
They definitely won't leak, the Evo X are a very hard boot, not as hard as MX boots obviously but a good firm sole and side-supports but not as nice for walking around verssu the Adventure model.
@@AdamChandler86 I may pull the trigger on them then. They seem like a middle of the road compared to the adventure and an mx boot. I've only been wearing a regular worn out work boot which isn't doing me any good.
How long does it take for the boots (ADV drytec) to dry out in the summer? That was why they went with H-Dry technology. The boots were heavy after getting wet. Not big deal just wondering. I might save the bucks and buy the older version. Plus they didn’t make the H-Dry in black yet. Thanks
I haven't had any issues with drying out. Maybe I'm not understanding the inquiry but both the HDRy and their old waterproof material are working just the same. I've done all day touring in the rain in both and walked across a few rivers and neither has leaked on me.
Evo or adventure? Which is better?
Adventure for touring comfort, Evo for safety and not breaking your ankle in a crash. The EVO has much more rigidity and is a safer boot.
How are the HDry boots holding up?
No issues yet so I’m happy with the upgrade.
Do you have a preference between the HDry and Drytex?

Zero that I can tell. Both have similar break in time, confort and neither have leaked.
For some reason Forma says you shouldn't ride Adventure boots in stance with the aggressive enduro footrest. Anyone got any considerations why?
Yeah, it's due to the soft sole which is very comfortable to walk on but could get eaten up quickly by aggressive pegs. Personally, yeah mine wear but it's not bad.
@@AdamChandler86 oh thanks dude! Just let me clarify as i'm not a native: you do use your forma adv with the aggressive ones, and it wears out but it's not so critical?
One pair I did 20K miles on in 2 years with really aggressive sharp pegs and the never wore through so while it's a precaution, it's not one I'd be worried about. You can see the wear but the sole is still intact. I actually just gifted those boots to a new rider.
