I’m single making $80k a year. Listen I have no excuses so I better start saving!!
A friend of mine added up how much money I spend a year buying Pepsi cola out of a vending machine at my job . It turns out to be eleven hundred dollars a year. Just think how much money I would have make if I invested half of that money for five years..
I can help you with the single part
Punchito: and how is that
Ms. Beltran what’s your career path?
I work for an aerospace company and god willing I’ll be able to retire from there!!
Omg I watch their RUclips channel!! it’s called ‘our rich journey’
Rose Mia me too! They’re awesome!
Same here...I love this couple
💯
I love their channel, also.
I don’t but thanks for their channel name ❤️
Talked to my husband the other night and explained...next year we'll be on a budget so tight...that Lincoln would scream. It is our goal and we are going to make it happen #2020debtfree
Momma Bear why not start today

You can do it Momma bear!

When you have a PARTNER that matches your FAITH HARDWORK AND DETERMINATION...this is the goal that gets accomplished!!!.WELL DONE
That's true
Shandra Newell best comment!!!!!
Amen
So true- u have be on the same page
@@gigiwilliams1572 its important Gigi..Happy Holidays
While it sounds ideal, it’s not for everyone. honestly it’s not realistic for someone like myself barely making 33,000 /yr😓
HVanessa F ...you can do this too, not everyone needs a million to live off of, they have 2kids so they do but not you! You can to this!
You can still reach financial freedom. Everyones plan will be different. Go on your own pace. Be creative with increasing income, paying off debt, saving and intentional with your money. You got this!
Anything is possible babe! They’re many roads to success so NEVER give up 💜
Hey vanessa you can do it to honey..... start small and it will start to compound... Big....
Your more powerful than you think... Always remember that...
They have two incomes two people
"Our Rich Journey" is so much more than saving money. I'm a fan !!!!!
I love their channel, how they work, and archived their goal
Looks like it could not have happened to more sweet of people. Congratulations!
Love their channel! So cool to see them being featured on GMA!
Of course they can afford it. They made good money individually.
$98,000 and $68,000 in San Francisco isn't exactly good money. In fact you would qualify as low income on a $68,000 salary in San Francisco.
@@ariefraiser140 good to know. But either way...that's still a good amount to survive with wherever they're living now especially in another country.
I used to live near SF, but didn't qualify for low income housing. And I def made less than them...lol.
They made decent money. San Francisco is super expensive.
I hated lazy ppl said that they make good money. Some doctors make 150-200k still working like donkeys
And you said they make good money? STF
I’m just over here waiting on the “FIRE Internet police” to show up and be haters. Great job Our Rich Journey. You guys rock, and are a great example for families around the world.
Lol their busy trolling
@nauticadon lol right!
Yeah and dont forget that good RUclips paychecks evrybody quitting their job over RUclips
I love this!!!! Congrats beautiful family
I retired at 32, now 58 and spend a lot of time traveling the planet.
TheKayaklover how were you able to retire at 32???
@@Ctwosrer Follow them @ Our Rich Journey & check out vids on F.I.R.E. (Financially Independent, Retire Early). [Graham Stephan, Mr Money Mustache, Beat the Bush, Go With Less, His & Her Money, etc]. Mike Rose has a great breakdown of how 2 people living on minimum wage can do this! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
@ML8593wy the world wide web
I love this couple, have been following their RUclips channel since mid 2019. Someday I'll accomplish what they now have.
I LOVE THEM and their YT channel!!! They are so sweet and clearly very smart!!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Congrats on your GMA appearance, well deserved. You've done something quite extraordinary and you are showing the world what is possible. Inspired by your Rich Journey!
This story is very inspirational. Set your goals high and never stop working hard towards achieving them.
So proud of these two! 🥰🥰🥰
I hate stories like these where the household income is more than most. Bring us a story where the person isnt living in her parents garage rent free OR making over 30k. Give us that success story.
It is extremely costly to live in San Francisco. $168,000 a year is not a lot for that area.
When you have 2 kids, you basically make 30k a year.
jadoresophya naw not at all. I have 2 kids and 1 on the way. Kids are not expensive. Especially once they are up in age like they kids. My wife and I are leaving good and take care of our kids and my base is 49 and hers 30. So we right at 80 but u know a lot of shit get taking out of our checks. No way we can put up a lot of money. Sure we have some fall back money but noway to retire in 2 years. We are in the process of getting a daycare but still noway to retire in 2 years. We will jus be a self owned business.
I follow their channel: 'Our Rich Journey'. Nikki you can be the change you want to see! There are others doing it on much less; research F.I.R.E. vids...Lots of people making under $30k doing this. You can too. T Michelle, they didnt live in San Fran all the time, that's where they started. They spent most of this journey living rent free from their jobs in Asia. House hacking is very common in the F.I.R.E. community. ♡
@@MsMockingbird06 People always say that but how much worse can it possibly be? You can probably get rent for 1500, food for about 500 a month, cell phone 100, internet 60, netflix for 10, 400 a month for other entertainment, 500 on a car and related expenses. I just don't see how it can be hard with that high salary. Seems like a lay up regardless of it being san fran unless you have a gigantic student loan that's killing you.
They are fantastic. Congratulations to them. I have been watching them, following them, love their tips and the power of them being a living example for so many; millions of people now with this story.
This is awesome! They’ve definitely peeked my interest.
*Piqued
Came across their channel before, this is so freaking awesome. Goals!!!
So no mention of them getting paid from RUclips? I mean kudos to them but they are also RUclips stars.
Not to mention they are still getting income. Lol. So they basically just became entrepreneurs but not necessarily retired. Good either way.
nauticadon I’m all with it but I was just saying how the video doesn’t mention that they are actually getting paid....and well.
They’re a newer channel and have been working towards FIRE since before RUclips, so maybe that’s why it’s not included.
So inspiring! Love this Story!
I’ve followed “Our Rich Journey” when they started their Vlog and I’m so proud of Ammon & Christina!!! They’re a great couple/team, were intense, focused and now FREEEEE!!!
My husband watches them all the time.
Hey!! Those are my peeps! Big love, fam!
I’m happy for anyone who can retire with enough money to live comfortably and in good health. That said, they were making a combined income of at least $168K...minus flipping homes and Uber driving! Since most American households gross far less than this, the journey for early retirement will be much more difficult. Nevertheless, I’m happy for this family and hope they realize how much God has blessed them.
Yeah. Barely making $23,000 here... with kids and rent is getting higher.. 😬 but we'll make it with budgeting & couponing 😊
I follow this couple on RUclips. They are awesome and I'm so happy for them.
Wow their story made it to GMA!
This couple also made a $160,000 a year!!! That is not the norm.
But it can be, there are plenty of BA position that pay you at least 70k
Well, they were living in San Francisco.
Why not save enough money to retire early but then still go to work and ball tf out...I mean..yoowww!!
People don’t really want to work to be honest
@@thebridge5483 lazy...I'd rather ball tf out knowing I can still leave whenever I want
Jimmy Costa Mendes to each their own
To each his own...whatever each person or family decide is what’s appropriate for them.
I think they wanted to spend time as a family. Furthermore, they are not really retired, they started a business. They have a YT channel and they coach people. The term FIRE is misleading as most of these people are bloggers. Mr. Money Mustache for example has a huge blog but, yet he likes to pretend his frugal and that's how he's living. It's all a facade. I love this couple and their channel though. I have learned a great deal from them.
Congrats!! Dynamic couple!
168,000 per year!!! I believe I would be able to make some big moves with that as well!!! That is not bad at all!!! They should be able to retire early. But please don't sell this plan to the everyday family that makes about 60,000 with two incomes!!!
There are families that are on FIRE making $50K. There’s tons of research online, Facebook and RUclips of people making it happen.
@@ReadingTimeWithZa Thank you....my research starts NOW
They did this in the Bay Area where $168k is not a lot. Sure, 60k will generally take longer, but a defeatist attitude will make it impossible.
@@francisYT24 They actually share about their 8 year journey the channel name is "Our Rich Journey ".
@@francisYT24 I was about to type this. People don't realize how utterly insanely expensive living in San Francisco is. I've seen average homes that need some work listed at almost a million dollars in San Francisco. Don't let that $168,000 household income fool you. Location plays a huge role also.
I love this interview and I follow Amon & Christina on RUclips and their channel is " Our Rich Journey". Far as the comment made about healthcare. They actually have a video about that on their RUclips. They pay little to nothing on their healthcare compared to the U.S.. They have enough money to live in the U.S. or Portugal. Now, that's the comparison she should have done. Instead she did a comparison of Tennessee versus New York.
You know people have to throw some shade
Okay so their annual total household income was almost $200,000... that’s how they retired early. Go figure🤦🏾♂️
You don't have to have an income that large to retire early. You just have to be smart about your money. I retired at 35 from 60K, 15 years ago.
If your bad with $30,000 you’ll be broke with $200,000
SParkApCider how?
Moe X facts 💯
@@LowkeyHighkeyz My employer, a school system, offered annuities on top of the standard retirement , and I invested the max. I didn't buy fancy cars, but I did buy real estate. Watched the market, before the banks collapsed, I sold all. Essentially, I had a portfolio at 21 when others were telling me how stupid I was for living so restricted. In the end, it paid off. But when I look back, I think of how I could have saved more. Retiring was easy, leaving the work I loved was the hardest. But I had a plan and I stuck to it. The important thing is living on less, live on your cash and not on credit. Retiring is not about sitting back to do nothing. It is about having the freedom to do what you want, even if that is pursuing hobbies. Learn to live on less.
Awesome example. God bless you all.
So incredibly proud of them. They worked hard and used their money wisely. Then they moved to Lisbon! Incredible!
Nice story Happy Retirement.
Their RUclips channel is awesome!! I invested in mainly real estate to retire early and love the FIRE movement!
You’re all welcome in Portugal
I love them! I subscribe to their channel and they inspire me!
This is because they make 6 figures each and they aren’t retired they continue to do so by using social media. It’s great to save, but think this whole thing through.
They made 70k and 90k. Not 6 figures each. 6 figures combined.
@Lola Cole is that net or gross? Because if it’s gross then they make 6 figures each, and if it’s net then they take home less than 70k and 90k. I have never watched their channel so I don’t know, but I do know gross and net, so it’s just a question.
It’s called passive income
They also did this with two kids living in California
Their income is not high for San Francisco.
I’m 39, been following them on RUclips and I learned a lot so I got into the steps and been on fire 🔥
I make 85k debt free, maxing out my 401k at 79k, Roth IRA at 6k , recently Opened an investment account in 2 years time I can see retirement getting close ... may be 🤷♂️
Glenda Stevens actually 79k is the total amount on my 401k at the time, of course I am only able to contribute maximum $19,500 a year
Donde estés vallas ay estoy yo con esto viva. Mi abuelo. My abuelo. I
I have been subscribed to their channel for some time
Amazing
This is interesting. 🎆
Ok I’d like to say I’ve been friends with Christina and Ammon for a long time, and to see them on national tv, I just feel proud like I actually hang out with them. Haha! RUclips friends for years!
Our Rich Journey ! I love them!!
I follow them on RUclips. Very great couple to follow.
Ali cuando. Yo veo algunos. Veo a my propio abuelo ay esta. My abuelo gracias. Abuelo mio.
Notice no short cuts people
Just paid off 30k in credit card debt... next stop save
They look no older than 30. Ive seen 25 year olds that look 40 plus.
Stress free living
Awesome!!
Awsome family!!!!!
Yup and they were in Japan too!!!
What about the average families that make $50k a year? We follow Dave Ramsey and there’s nothing else to cut. Our only debt is our mortgage and we’re already driving old cars paid in cash. This is the second time GMA has done a story on a couple that makes $150k + and saved a crazy amount. Doesn’t seem like news to me.
sell house buy a motorhome promblem solved.
The average is 59k a year. It can be done with one high earner or 2 average earners. The average fresh grad makes 45k upon graduation. Trade blue collar workers pull in even more.
You also spend less so you need less to retire.
So increase your income... Nursing school is just 2 years and not even hard and then you make 70k each. Or skilled trades like electrician can make 50-100k each. Change jobs
Great job
Teach this to all high school kids.
Omg I watch them!
This didnt touch what they've managed to beautifully orchestrate....including living rent and mortgage free/tied accommodation etc....amazing
Omg, soooo cool!
I think this sounds bad lol no facials no salon no expensive skincare I would die lol
😂😂😂 clearly they’re not single and living in NJ or NY
when you meet the right one and you guys compromise you can achieve anything !
I know their story because I follow their IG and RUclips. Smart and very nice couple. I hate that you didn’t interview them. All these comments below from people judging who don’t know anything about the FIRE community. I am not currently seeking FIRE, but definitely seeking the FI part.
The host did an extremely poor job covering the FIRE movement! Great job Rich fam you are an inspiration to many... Those of us who have been following your journey know you live an incredible life without sacrifice just spending on what is important to you. Poor journalism to say the least.
I keep my heat at 63* we wear hoodys, socks n use blankets. After 9pm-candles only, no lights. I grocery shop at Aldi amd Dollar General and use coupons. Wash all laundry on cold, i hang most of it to dry on line & racks in basement and i only do it at night(cheaper than during peak hours pseg). I only run dishwasher when its full. I call cable & cell company every 3mths lookin for better deals. I precook & pack breakfast for hubby & kid during week. Idk how else to pinch!!!! Any suggestions?
Wow that is amazing what you do 😊.
Is there any unnecassry spending on things like ciggarettes, salons etc?
Feral Fan get rid of cable & cell phone contract. Get a prepaid phone instead
Get a job
I think about this all the time... I know it can be done
Couples with solid goals can accomplish a lot in life and that's one of the purposes of marriage. The helper part of marriage was one of God's intentions.
Well everyone need sometime of work to feel like they have a purpose. Cause doing nothing can get old so find what you are passionate about and do it. It better than retirement
I wonder how long this will last.
Love it!!!!!!! Yah made it
They have an excellent youtube channel Our Rich Journey
168k is basically poverty level in SF for all those complaining, so I’m really impressed by this couple- good for them!
Sure. Is a loaf a bread 50 dollars or something over there? LOL
Portugal is good all year around.
You have to make a significant amount to be able to save like this. This not for the normal 9-5 or single parents. Plus the secret they moved to another COUNTRY
flysociety they just moved to another country. After retiring
Congrats!!
I’m retired and I’m not even 35 yet
Gemale Henderson yeah right. How?
There famous 😎 well deserved they worked hard
He was making about $98k per year
She was making about $70k per year
Collectively about $168k per year
- is this the average American?
MangaMango 2 no where near
It’s called hustling
they must have listened to dave Ramsey😂😂. I'm glad they didn't care what people thought when they downsized. good for them 💯
They hit the lottery back in 2007, I saw them on the news in Columbia, S.C.!!!
I believe it. Hard time believing they could save that much on salary and uber with 4 kids after tax. However if they flipped enough homes for good profit then its believable. I knew someone who made 1 million by 30 y.o flipping homes in California before the crash
T-Man not true
I would get bored retiring that early
Not if you travel
Watched them on UItube months ago
I am retired at 33 yrs old but in other country not in usa
I want to retire at 40
There's no way that I'll be saving 70% of my income !! I work hard to live comfortable...I save 20-25% of my income and that's more than enough.
ML8593wy And what about if You don’t get to 40?? So I prefer to live an average life during my existence than starve and deprive myself a children. Life is too short and you never know about tomorrow. But I respect everyone choice.
Nice
It takes 2 to pull things off like dis
I retired at 31 and my hubby at 43 and have 2 kids
Damn
Not everyone makes that much money a year 😒
That's not enough
Many Americans are moving to Mexico and Portugal. If you buy property and invest your money in Portugal and let it sit for 5 years you can apply for a Portuguese passport which allows you to live and work legally in the EU.
If I was making 90k a month or six figure I would be rich
A year gross
90k net income, debt free , single with no kids, living in a low cost of living city is a lot of money
ThatNATLife you making that
😂🤣 How many people in U.S. make > $90k & broke? In debt? Keeping up w/ the Jonses? This can be done @ $10/hr or $100/hr. Follow the F.I.R.E movement &/or watch their channel 'Our Rich Journey'. EVERYONE can do this! 🙌🏽😜
It's not how much you earn, it's how you manage it. Athletes earn millions and still go broke!
🙌🏿
