I booked jimny the next day it was announced. On 14th Jan to be precise. Despite all its shortfalls, people loved it before price reveal. Suzuki created a hype bubble by hiding the price of Jimny. Showroom people did not disclose even a ball park figure of the expected price. Now there were 100s of videos of Jimny available where RUclipsrs and other motor experts reviewed the car gave their opinion regarding price which was expected to start from 10L or below, considering the fact that Thar also starts at 9.99L. Once price was disclosed, on-road price of jimny came out to be 14L to 17L , which was way above the expected range ! And the bubble bursted. It would had been a success if priced between 10L-13L. People like myself got other cars , particularly nexon and Sonet , which offer great value at 10L-15L price segment.
In a country that wants suvs not for the utility they have but rather for their on road presence that equates it to the feeling of achievement and pride Jimny was bound to fail at any price it would have been launched…it sounds harsh but it is the reason why utter pointless cars like the Thar RWD exists in India…back in 2015-16 gypsy used to cost around 8-8.5 lakh rupees on road…almost 10 years down the line we got the Jimny with everything that the gypsy had plus the bits to make it more modern and fare in the tech hungry world…it was impossible to price it the way all the youtubers were hyping it to be…Further 10 years down the line it when we will no longer have it in India perhaps we will realise what the car offered us..Its sad to see a car being mocked for being small although it has much better space management than the bulky Thar…There will always be a community for true 4*4 buyers who will buy it for what it is…whenever i get to drive a Jimny the owner is always throwing mechanical jargons and stuff about it and that is the thing…you have to understand such an unusual car to be able to appreciate it… but they are few in numbers and that is all the sales Jimny can hope for…I am glad we got to see the Jimny in India…It’s a kei off roader and it should not change for anything else…truth be told we are not enthusiasts market…I am not blaming any Brezza or Grand vitara and similar car owner but simply the people who compare it a tata magic and mock it for its maruti tag…Its one of the best off roaders India got including the likes of Thar Gypsy Hilux. Price for price i would go as far as to claim the jimny best off-roader India got.The Jimny in India is dead. Long Live the Jimny.
The jimny has no road presence compare to Mahindra Thar ! But pricing is so high almost equal to Thar ! The looks and body of jimny 5 door should be below 10 lakhs 8-10 laks.

Maruti jimny is best for me. This is mainly for off-road vehicle. I like petrol engine. Light weight. Only problem is the price. Others are Ok. Chalegaa.

Speaking of features, the Jimny has abs, electronic breaking system , hill assist, 6 airbags and light weight that provide 14 kmpl which is better than all other off roader. They should have named it Maruti Suzuki Gypsy new generation!!! And yes it's overpriced, although a practical 5 door off roader with decent mileage and boot space. The light weight compensates for a low power engine. Frankly this so called road presence is a big nonsense.In off-road conditions a compact and lightweight vehicle is better. Overpriced and low water wading capacity are the 2 negative things. Mind you in this very RUclips many owners have praised the Jimny and there's very little critical comment from any Jimny owner. If only the Maruti Suzuki had more commonsense and less ego to atleast keep the good competitive prices. And above all hailed it as a successor of its successful model Maruti Gypsy which never had a competition things would have been different these last 6 months.

Also made a blunder with 5 doors. Originally jimny is 3 door only, but chutya maruti suzuki wanted it to make a volume sales product, with 5 door option price increased. Ps 3 door jimny also manufactured in india only but not sold. Chutya maruti suzuki team.
