    Sparkling gourami won my heart over. They have SO much personality for such a tiny little fish.

      Agreed. And there's nothing like beauties in a bigger tank. I used to keep them in a 4 footer. It was so satisfying watching them swimming around, investigating every nooks and crannies.

    Great list! I haven't done an actual nano tank before but I like adding nano fish to bigger tanks. I currently have a school of about 30 ember tetras and 12 kuhli loaches in my 75 gallon, ~15 neon tetras (not green neons though), 8 otos and 5 female bettas in my 36 gallon, and then I plan on adding a school of celestial pearls to the 20 gallon tall I'm currently cycling.

    • @sagarm8005
      @sagarm8005 3 года назад +12

      CPDs don't do good with tall tanks. 20 long is a much better setup for 10-12 CPDs. males are very territorial (bottom area). speaking from experience. best luck though

    When you're keeping the Psudomugils make sure you have a tight fitting lid , I lost 6 of them when they jumped out a tiny gap I had around the filter . Otherwise they are beautiful fish to keep

    • @Felix-jo7nj
      @Felix-jo7nj Год назад

      @@ahumanonplantearth5931almost all fish will jump, natural jumpers are more likely to jump but all species can jump due to stress and the like. You could try keeping the water level a bit lower from the lip of the tank or have a cover of floating plants to reduce the chance. A lid is highly recommended though since even things like snails can escape

I like fish with a lot of personality and these guys have it.lol when the male is guarding his territory or eggs, and I come up to the tank, he will come at me like he is trying to act tough and scare me away. Working on stocking my 33 gallon L with nano fish. This list is making me rethink my stock that I’ve planned for a year XD I had no idea gouramis could make noise, so cool! And those Dario darios I keep seeing you show off are so tempting. And I’ve recently come to love tiger endler tetras. Might start researching some of these guys to see if they’d fit in with my planned fish

    • @kernalbert4939
      @kernalbert4939 2 года назад

      The tiger endler is not a tetra. They are a livebearer closely related to guppies. You may have already discovered this, but some other person may not.
      Dario Badis are best kept singly or in a species only tank. They will get outcompeted for the live food that most of them require if kept with the other fish on this list. If being kept with shrimp, then the colony must be thriving or else the Badis will destabilize the colony due to excessive predation.

      I'm in a similar situation. I have a Fluval Flex 15 (57 L, but really about 45 L of swimming space) with a male betta, a mystery snail and two Endlers. I chose the betta to be active but not aggressive (put betta containers together to see what the fish did), and he gets along well with his tank mates. I'm looking to add either a small school of nano fish or two slightly larger compatible fish, and this video was helpful. At the top of my list are the ember tetras, but I also have the opportunity to buy a couple of golden gardener killifish privately. I like the green neons a lot, but can't get them locally. One missing from his list is the honey gourami. I have two gold honey gouramis in a larger community tank and they are really nice fish. I'm not sure that a betta would tolerate them, though.

  • @PaulZyCZ
    @PaulZyCZ 3 года назад +2

    Neoheterandria Elegans are also cool nano-fish. The male is one of the smallest fish in the world. There are other life bearers fitting in the nano-category. I heard Pea Puffer is also a nano-fish, but they have territories. If I don't count Betta (which isn't nano-fish by size, but 12 gallons is okay), I'd say my favorite would be dwarf rasboras. Least Rasboras can fit in tiny tanks, they live for several years, reproduce rather easily, common in fish stores and they are rather hardy for nano-fish. Blue (green) neon tetras are also my favorite, but I'd give them at least 50cm long tank to swim.
    I like Corries and Ember tetras, but they get scared easily and moving them is often fatal. Even shrimp handle that better.

      Hi they won’t uproot any plants at all, just make sure to feed them if they have now cleaned all your algae or they will unfortunately die which is common. I have 2 veg clips up all the time with spinach and red pepper or courgette and they love it. Also I put some powdered repashy in a small dish of tank water and squirt the plants with it from a turkey baster. In my experience they don’t really eat commercial food ie wafers, algae tabs etc.

    Once again, a beautiful collection of aquascapes ! Wondering what the PH of your tanks are ? Also, on the topic of nano's, have you ever tried the fun, but rare variety called Least Killifish ? Despite their name, they are the smallest livebearer in the world. Lot's of fun character, and hardy. Their scientific name is, Heterandria formosa. They are mostly wild but there is an even rarer line that comes in a creamy gold coloring. Both should be snatched up quick if you find them. These lil guys are not the same as "millions" live bearing species, they're so small they drop one baby at a time...sometime two, so you don't have worry of overpopulating. Thanks for a great nano list ❣

Your video shows hybrids of two species, so the reticulata species should be listed. Glad to see you included the green neon tetras. (they only look blue because of your lighting). Other than this, your list is similar to my own for the most part. And your tanks are immaculately scaped of course. Lovely.

    Do pygmy cory stir up the soil in a planted tank? Bcuz 1 tank that has 4x pygmy is just a little cloudy. I change floss every 2-3wks. Upgraded to canister eheim. Tried clarity by seachem. But still not as clear as my other tank that has sand and gravel? Using organic soil with some black sand cap a thin layer only.

    In my next scape I'm planning to put a school of Ember tétras. I like a lot that 🍊 color. I also have Rasboras mosquitos and Galaxy.

    Hello! Like your video a lot, omg your tanks are just heaven in clear water 💙
    I'm quite fond of nano fish myself; Could you advice me on how to enhance their colors? I have blue eyed pseudomugil and mine aren't as bright as what you show. Is there any food or water setting that might help? Many thanks and congrats for your wonderful work

    I have a wonderful population of groups of at least 10 of white cloud mountain minnows, Zebra Danios, Checkered Barbs, rosy barbs, hillstream loaches, Amano shrimps, bladder and assasin snails.Works very well.
    Now I look forward to put my betta and his kuhli loach mates, Caridina shrimp, bladder and assasin snails into a 71 litre tank and to add otocynclus, amber and neon tetras.I love nano fish.It makes me said that people treat them like they treat birds= the smaller the bird the smaller the cage and the smaller the fish the smaller the tank.
    The moment I have put my cold water population into a 4 feet river like tank their behavior changed and I could see their happiness and their explored and using the full length of the tank to swim around and enjoy the wave machine current.

    Which fish you recommend for surface on a mainly amazon aquarium, with low PH high temperature.
    I was thinking about brown pencilfish but even tho they are small, they are kinda long, 4-6 cm. Wanna go with Pigmy Corys and Green Neon Tetras and Otto.
