@@Brav0767 Their reasoning is "If we tell them that this is bad and avoid debating at all cost, they will let go and comply"(That sentence sounded very much like description of the Jedi Order in the prequels). This is making it even worse. Especially in Germany. Only time when this is brought up is history materials and outside it, nobody mentions it, especially in comedy. I know that it wasn't their best of times, but come on! You have to accept it, respect the fallen and move on. Japanese don't have this problem, Russians don't (although maybe propaganda helped it), my country doesn't. But western countries for the last years became very touchy about things that they did in the past, either blaming very much themselfs or avoiding topic like some dictatorial regime, leaning this viewpoint through subjective information. Sometimes you have to shuffle the information a little, so your country doesn't look like home of the morons and thugs, but still you try to include all aspects. Failing that or doing it on purpose is just revisionism and doesn't look good in "democratic" country. PS I wrote that on midnight of local time, so sorry for some errors or other mistakes. If so happens, notify me.

@@Vyury Not really that Germany is a "Western" country, geographically speaking anyway. I've actually done a whole lot of thinking and research on this topic, and my conclusion is, among other things, that it is actually a lot more to do with propaganda, at least than you seem to give credit in your comment. "History is written by the victors" is a very misused and misunderstood topic that a lot of people seem to get wrong (though not saying you). Most people see the Germans in WWII as an absolute evil and that the Nazi party were the worst people in history or something, and people think this at its origin because of propaganda, mostly from wartime. Its a vicious cycle of information as it is found, selectively picked and misconstrued by propaganda authorities, further misconstrued by media, then muddied by the public, then made back into misleading or just false media from that public, and as time goes on it just keeps going and going. MAYBE its at least somewhat because people are more touchy and easily offended and all that stupid stuff nowadays. But I think it's a lot more to do with propaganda by allied powers, , revisionism (though more to do with Japan), as well as some other aspects.

Mateusz Janicki You guys are so wrong it hurts my brain.
Whenever the swastika is shown in Germany, it has to be brought in context. You can absolutely show that symbol if it's used in pieces of art (referencing the dark era) , or for historic purposes. (Duh.)
If you now go "But those planes in museums often don't have the symbol!" ...
Yeah well guess what. When those relics were brought in, the planes either never had it in the first place or they received new paintjobs by numerous different keepers, so the livery was never going to be 100% accurate anyway. Also, when the museums received those pieces, it was most of the time rather shortly after the war no one wanted those symbols around. So no one painted them on them once again.
Alternatively, the flying machines are still being used and as any aircraft, they need proper markings. You can have the swastika on your historic vehicle in Germany, but when you start moving it around through different nations, things can get really complicated really fast. So again, it's just left out.
Second point. It is not because of propaganda why Germans see the nazis as the worst. It's because they simply were and still are.
"But the Russians and the US!1!1!"
      - Yeah, so what? Doesn't make Germany's behaviour any better, does it. So here too, shut up.
When we Germans don't show the swastika, it's not to "censor history", it's because it is not needed in the individual case. Germany out of any country is the only one actually admitting their awful history which is full of unnecessary and inhumane wars.
And maybe it is time to ease up on regulations to some degree but it's not the right time and place because nazism and the extreme right are stronger than ever since the war. How about this: The US, Russia, Britain and basically the entire world these days stop being such racist, nationalist arseholes so we can ease up the rules a bit?
Btw. the only thing you're not allowed to say in Germany is, the holocaust never happened in the way it is evidentally recorded.
That's the only thing you can not discuss. It's settled. Argumenting against it is the easiest way of outing you as a neo-nazi-scumbag.
So please stop being so oblivious.
Your ideas on the Germans' way of dealing with history is not only false it's outright dangerous.
Even though I know you will probably just react with hate because that's how this argument usally goes, bit still...
      Good day to you.

@@Leon_der_Luftige I really don't have the time to sift through this entire comment right now but I really have to comment on the whole plane thing, you were *really* trying hard to give reasons there. "planes never had it in the first place" , what? The swastika was standard on all German military aircraft, and a lot of museum pieces were transported directly from the site they came from, all be it with a bit of shuffling from warehouse to warehouse during restoration and all that. And the "so the livery was never going to be 100% anyway" accepting defeat much? The entire point is to get it as close as possible, they study the painting conventions and paint them the same way. I really don't get the point here, they use the same markings and everything, do you have a thing against new paint? Also, "people didn't like it" is a dumb reason. I know it might hold up historically, but it shouldn't. No museum piece or historical artifact should receive any changes from it's original form just because people didn't like it. It's just denying history, so even if it's what happened, which, it may have been, it still *shouldn't* have happened. Also, as for flying aircraft, yes, but actually not really. What about, like, any other museum with actively flying examples still with the full livery? "Things can get complicated really fast" keep it outside... the few countries that ban it outright, and done. Remember, many examples in other countries still have it. Continuity doesn't really hold up, unless they're thinking of plans to move it eastward.

@@syfer4580 From wiki about that anime, Teacher's Skyly J2 is in resemblance of Hawker Sea Fury but with turbocharged V-16 and five cannons. As this anime is really well made, due lot of fans, no wonder that eg. main character's Sanka Mk.B (made after Kyushu J7W Shinden) made it's skin rather popular for J7W in eg. War Thunder game :).
Also if you are after more fighter animes and not just prop-fighters, i suggest to watch Sentou Yousei Yukikaze (alternate sci-fi 6-episode long anime about jetfighters in parallel world, very nicely animated, but hard to follow too hardly packed plot from two novels it's based on), and Area 88 (both OVA (better story/plot) and later TV series (also good). One cannot expect good CG graphics in Area 88 though (after all, very old, hand drawn), but plot and characters were enjoyable.
Now back to The Sky Crawlers .. there was just one bit i disliked due unrealistic physics. Imho post-stall maneuvers (like several times shown cobra-like air-braking and then shooting down foe that overshoot) is impossible to perform in front engined prop-fighter like Teacher's unlike in eg. modern jetfighters with thrust from rear and +thrust vectoring. Maybe J7W sanka with rear engine could .. but it probably had very little authority at low stall speeds due prop not blowing over control surfaces, so unless he could differentially control angle of attack for prop per just one side in helicopter manner, maneuver looks unbelievable. Still .. wonderful eye candy though :)

Kampfgeschwader 200 operated several captured aircraft flying transport and long range reconnaisance missions, and the B17 was no exception. With that said, the scenario still isn't exactly realistic, but it's not impossible.

    • @RogbodgeVideo

They actually gave them a cover designation - Dornier Do 200 - because they were more useful then their own aircraft!

With the Spitfires of clippped wings, speed was sought, thus sacrificing the greatest virtue of the Spitfire its maneuverability, if that Spitfires had been the full-wing ones they would have been able to escape from the Ta 152 by making a tight turn.

    • @bobuboi4643

Again. This has been proven many times. The elliptical wings were to fit the 8 machine guns. NOT TO INCREASE MANUEVEREBILITY.

@@cardiv5zuikaku944 it's barely any skill to back on the days. I mean look at saburo sakai, he literally dodged an attack from 15 superior American planes, led them onto flak, blew one up destroyed 64 American planes in his whole carrier (54% of how many kills the tomcat got in it's whole service time with different pilots every time). Do you really think a modern pilot could do that?
