you can see where the magic in these beats comes from when you were humming the rhythm and melody without playing. thats where the good shit comes, from inside the heart.
7:42 I chop samples in FL Studio a similar way right in the step sequencer. I don’t use a sampler plugin/slicer anything like that. I just duplicate channels and truncate them in the sample window. I started doing it one day and I really like the chops I get from this technique.
I love the 2000XL. It's just so easy to use and create with. I created an album from scratch in three weeks using it a couple of years ago. Just hooked up two analogue synths to it via MIDI and looped some guitar licks to the Roland RC505 added effects and sampled them into the MPC. It's the workflow that I know from the nineties and for me it still works to this day
Got mine in 2000, built the foundation of my beat making. Ended up rocking maschine for the last 5 years, but still love Akai and anything Roger linn touches. This vid brought me back in time.
@ConductorWilliams I need to find my old disks I got from PSSL when I bought it. They gave away free samples from all the roland drum machines, and since they were given for free, roland couldn't do much. Hardest 808's before people started clipping them and layering sine waves.
I had a Mpc 2000xl years ago . Sold it and have regretted that decision ever since . Brought a Mpc one two years ago but not the same magic . So I just brought another Mpc2000xl . Will never sell again. The machine is magical . It takes any beat to another level .
i got a mpc2000 half a year ago, and have been loving it for the start of the process, finding the heart of the beat and being creative with the use of the sample. then i bounce it to ableton and go nuts, but the first half hour of the beats on the mpc2000 are golden. something about that machine...
I'm borrowing a 2000xl from a friend of mine. I haven't gotten around to use it too much. Some aspects seem a little intimidating at first without watching a 2 hour long youtube tutorial hahah. I have to just sit down with it for real one day. Peace man
Dont overthink the machine just use it at face value-- once you do that, its easy!! Only thing I dont like about it is it takes forever to process samples..but thats only because the mpc one has spoiled me 😂
@@ConductorWilliams Yeah when I first used my sp303 that shit felt so weird to me because it takes like 30 seconds to delete a sample.. Not used to that! I'll fire up the 2000xl tomorrow and see what happends
One of my regrets was selling my MPC 2000 XL back in 09. I had it for ten years and then jumped on the Logic Pro wave. But man I miss the MPC and just banging out beats on that. Dope video.
Another fire video. I finished the rough draft of the album I'm working on today, the vision is beautiful your videos help me keep focused. I still have to re-record some vocals but all the placeholder verses work I'm going to take the project to another level this next month. peace🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
After two years of thinking it over I decided to switch to akai. I haven’t done it yet but I will soon and it’s crazy how you posted this as I kept thinking if I really should do it or not.
Yo Fam Im feeling this new mini series on your equipment break down . Wanted to ask when you do the SP606 episode if you can breakdown how you get around the sp 606 having no pitch control or ability to do 16 level pitch across the pads .
New camera looks great bro - MPC 2kXL was where I got started and while I don't use it a ton anymore will likely be the last sampler I ever part with 🎵
i come from a hardware background of the 90s sold all my hardware wish i had kept it now i want to go back to the using the old school gear again its a lot more fun than using plugins the old gear sound better than modern day software the akai mpc 2000xl is on my list of thing to get
As a teenager in the 90s, I used to take the bus to the guitar center every weekend just to play with the 2000xl. I always wanted one but could never get it. And your boy is like, here, take this. Wtf?
Hello mr. Conductor. I really enjoy your viewpoint when it comes to making music. I got a Mpc 2000xl(the orange one) but I need some tlc. I have a question about the mpc 2000xl. Should you max it out by adding the 8 outs and the effect broad?
I remember learning to program an sp1200 in the late 90's with only 10 seconds of sample time and super limited it was intimidating but when I got an mpc 2000xl it was effortlessly easy it was like a new word opened up
I don’t see any other producer giving stories and insight like conductor. A widow giving me some of her husbands soul records and I can’t wait to get cooking.
I remember when damn near every producer in the industry had one and if you read someone's setup in Scratch Magazine, more than likely they had an MPC 2000XL
@@ConductorWilliams Word! I really appreciate it. 🫡 I still own my 2000XL that I bought from a private owner like a couple years after it was released. The gear was pretty much NEW. How do you modernize it.. one of the old school homies gifted me one but it got all the old drives and stuff on it... i loaded a hi hat aand all the memory was used up... its cool as a novelty but i wanted to use it... since it was my first one... in the mean time i got the mpc studio controller to pair with my laptop.. i like it.
