@@ConductorWilliams Khotso (means peace in Sesotho -a Southern African language). Just wanted to let you know your videos (which I discovered today) are impactful to me all the way here in Johannesburg. Just really want to wrap up what I’m doing for work so I break out the iPad and get busy. More blessing by a and opportunities to you. ✊🏾
In my 30s I was obssessed with the idea of "making it" with my music. I stopped doing it because I enjoyed it and just started spamming emcees with beats. Managed to get a couple of beats with an artist who was on Stones Throw at the time and produced most of an album for a well known, underground UK emcee. Thought that was gonna be it. And then...nothing. Nothing. Music came out, comments on the tracks were all about the emcee, hardly anybody mentioned the producer (me), and nobody else approached me asking for beats. I got down, really down and ended up giving up on it. Few other things happened, got married, had kids and beats were fogetten. Recently started producing again but I don't post anything anymore. It's just for me now, for the process.
Take it as a hobby and don't push yourself if you're not feeling right into making music. For example: I've removed all my 20 finished songs in my hard drive by accident - 2 years spent which I can't take them back. It is what it is. Shit happens but the family is a top priority for me.
“CONDUCTOR WE HAVE A PROBLEM” Best producer tag and you can’t change my mind. Much love conductor williams, you are part of the best collective of artists from the last 10 years GRISELDA RECORDS.
Wow! Psalm One! Been listening to you since you came through Columbus, OH and stayed at my dude's (parents') house 20 yrs ago(?). Good to (digitally) see you!
I started producing around 2014-15 & took it very seriously until about 2019 when I decided I wanted to switch industries. Fast forward to present day, I am coming back to production & just bought an MPC Key (just shipped!). So finding this video just gave me so much inspiration.. thank you. - just wanna say I found you're sound through Griselda & couldn't be more thankful. You're RUclips channel alone is a blessing in disguise. Much love CONDUCTOR WE HAVE A PROBLEM
can't overlook or overstate how these videos are as much of an art form as making beats, and seeing you come into your own in developing your youtube style is just as inspiring as the stories you tell within the music. keep that train rolling!!! 🚂🚂🚂
Just started making “beats” this year. Gets frustrating at times especially when you don’t have anybody to bounce ideas off of. You touch on a lot of subjects that really resonate with me…..keep this channel going and never stop preaching to the choir! Big Thanks
Every producer should watch this. I've really never heard a producer talk about the disorientation of "I didn't know what I was", and being nearly exploited or their style nearly ruined because of it. WSG and the movement over the last 7-8 yrs or so really is bittersweet for many of us who were told that the style that flashed into the industry in like 93-96 could never come back in a new, fully living form, but ultimately it's a triumph and I salute you. I'm not sure how many I speak for, but I really was at an oversaturation point with sampled beats until you came and added some fresh, "unorthodox" ideas that felt very alive. Perfect for Rome, WSG and more.
Started in 2008 and didn't get a break until 2018...Bro that makes me keep grinding🔥🔥🔥 I'm on a similar journey, I hadn't got my break...but it's coming one day soon.
Can’t believe you have this channel, artists of your caliber are so valuable. You’re the first person out here when you talk about producing I completely get you it makes sense. You speak my language. Thanks for the inspiration
Incredible beat, you’re a monster I’m so glad I found this channel, im 26 been making beats since I was 16, I’m just a fan of the craft and the ones who really love it
Man, that video was so crucial... I'm at this point in which it feels like it's impossible to make money with the music I like/make. But if the alternative is making bland commercial songs, I'll rather do something else...
Conductor, you are such a vibe bro. You make me appreciate my own personal skillset and ear for music. My shit is niche af, and a lot of people dont like it, but the ones who do love it. Thats what its all about. Thank you for sharing all your insight.
I love the philosophy of this channel. I just subscribed. been making music since 97 used to run a mpc 2000 xl and ran my synths and drum machines through it. quit when i had my kids, came back to it in 2013 and went on to make some records and play summer festivals prior to covid. I got back into making tunes with ableton live, love the format but i miss the mpc in so many ways. this channel reminded me why i enjoyed using the mpc as a sampler. even just to build ideas away from the computer. just the fun of it. Im looking into picking up an mpc one for couch sessions, or sitting outside on the deck or when traveling. i Produce funk, soul, disco vibes, french house and drum and bass grew up on hip hop, and my moms old soul/ motown records and my dads classic rock records. electronic music got me into funk, jazz, and disco. what i love about sampled based music is it teaches us about the past, and eventually we want to learn from those who created these sounds . sampled based music will always get the listener to dig deeper and find where the sounds came from, then they end up listening to that older music alongside the music they may have heard it first sampled. I love that. the new pays homage to the old and allows growth and inspiration to the new. as a musician i tend to stay away from sampling more so these days so that i don't have to clear samples. But that doesn't mean i don't still dig crates , and sample for the love of it. for the learning from the old masters. I always tell people that even as a musician sampling is a great way to learn, because when you sample and add a synth line, or a guitar to that sample or drumming or what ever one plays its like jamming with people. like taking a time machine and getting to play along with great artists, learning from them and taking that lesson and growing as a musician. Just found your channel today. watched a bunch of videos and feel inspired. thanks for doing what you do, and sharing your chill philosophy and vibes. from one musician to another Much love

Wow frfr, identity is a major key to great music. I was in the kenny beats beat battles and I kept making beats the way I liked, placed top ten 3 times, kenny didn’t like it, but I kept making it, then a year later someone from the kenny beats discord hit me up completely fanning over the beats I made, and one particular beat in general he wanted me to send it to him. That particular experience completely changed how I view my listeners and helped me realize should make beats how I like ‘em.

🔥🔥🔥🔥 Great video. I was given similar advice from friends that make music. They used the software.
