      Because Archers generally don't hold up well to zooming Cav/Infantry/Siege or to the Infinite Instant Free Castles

    Once again, I'm here to petition for a video of some gameplay of this mod involving SOTL. I think it would be amazing to see some AOEII gameplay again on here and this mod makes it extra fun and exciting with all the possible combinations!

    The rush combos are by far the best since it does not matter how strong the enemy units get in imp when they die in dark age.

    Tower stacking: Koreans for +20 range and free upgrades, Britons for +20 attack, Georgians for pass through damage then Icans for free towers + vil HP!

      Usually Castles outpace Towers both by build time and raw stats
      and they build unique units
      and they build Trebs (that become insane with Warwolf and Timurid Warfare)
      and they upgrade unique units...
      Sicilians/Spanish + Incas/Franks = Infinite Instant Free Castles which wipe the floor with anything that can't destroy them fast enough

    The town center team gets even dumber if you manage to get 2 sicilians using full random, had that one game, you didnt even have to get a villager to the tc, it just built instantly wherever you clicked it on the map. it just spawned out of nowhere.
    Another fun combination is spanish, incas and burgundians, the flemish revolution hits different on that one.

    I love the idea of a civ combo that creates free units so fast that it blockades the opposing team and forces them to resign if only because they can't reach the other side of the map.

    The best civ combos in this mode are not usually a combo where everyone can make the power unit. I’ve found that having one civ with an insane unit to go for is better than any basic unit buff combo.
    For instance, Persians with a Gurjara teammate (mounted units deal more bonus damage) means their war elephants nearly 1 shot buildings. Add in franks and you now have nearly unlimited hp. Or Bulgarians to attack extremely fast.

    I'm so happy to see the 10x mod get this kind of notice! Your videos have helped me be aware of so many tiny bonuses to account for each time I go through a new update
    Also, Camel supremacy is the best: Cumans / Hindustani / Gurjaras / Saracens

    I guess its worse then having free units, but I liked the combo of old Paper Money + Spanish extra gold + Aztec extra gold from relics + Scaracens for a negative market penalty so you get more resources out of the market then you put in. It would be extremely micro-heavy, but you just might have enough resources to buy out the other team.

    I suggest you look into the gunpowder combo, mainly Janissaries, but also for other unique units like Conqs and wagons they get incredible range, dmg, hp, attack, movement and creation speed.
    -Turks Gunpowder unit creation speed and hp, also free chemistry
    -Spanish Attack speed and fast castle builds
    -Bohemians Movement speed, chemistry in castle age
    -Berbers Creation speed for castles
    Also for water maps, fast shooting Cannon galleys, with long range, fast attack and speed

      You're missing the aspect of cost, though. A lot of these other combos include free units. Creation speed is irrelevant, if your economy can't possibly keep up.

    Imagine if the devs caved in and gave Monks 2 different "stances" for more ease of use for beginners. One that auto-heals friendly units in range like they already do, and a new one to auto-converts enemy units in range. Not only would that make the base game frustrating to play, but it would break Monk teams in this mod completely to the point of making it unplayable. 11

    Some other fun combos:
    Gurjaras/Portuguese/Persians/X - the Portuguese wood from foragers + Gurjara bushes means you send all your vils on the starting bushes and have an amazing economy. This + garrison your sheep lets you send early vils to gold and stone, and with the Persian faster TCs you can have a 10 minute Imp with free Savars due to Gurjaras UT + Portuguese gold cost removal. The civ can be something that buffs Savars (Franks, for example, which also synergizes with the forage, and buff HP and creation speed, or Romans, to turbocharge your economy even further).
    A fun variation on the infantry combo is Goths/Bohemians/Armenians/Lithuanians. You open with a Barracks + House + Mule Cart, and you can spam spears in dark age, who have 250% bonus damage and +10 bonus damage against buildings in Feudal. With your starting Lithuanian food you can send all your villagers to wood for houses, do a 6-7 vil Feudal, and now you have super fast free pikemen doing +35 damage against buildings. You don't have to worry about TC fire since you can easily hit and run with their speed to work around their slower attack speed. Armenian vision on the spears also allows you to find enemies quickly.
    The Italians/Khmer/Malay/X combo also does well with Bengalis as the fourth rather than Cumans, you trade some speed for getting 60 vils who can gather wood fast enough to compete with the Cuman free stables, since you also have enough wood for houses AND enough villagers to build stables faster. Huns also work since they have increased stable production speed and don't need houses. The Bengalis also ignore bonus damage on their eles, which prevent the above combo from rushing spearmen in DA, possibly the only thing that could otherwise resist the battle elephant rush.

      A small edit is that Spearmen have bonus dmg vs buildings so they can do damage already in Dark Age. Shutting down enemy ecos by the 5 minute mark.

    My infantry choice would be Sicilians (negates bonus damage, +1000 stone, farms have a LOT of food and +500% building speed on fortifications), Japanese (infantry attacks 330% faster starting from Feudal, great fishing ships if there is any pool), Slavs (splash damage in Imperial, great farmers) and Celts (Usain Bolt infantry, great lumberjacks) or Malians (free wood for building, infantry +10 pierce armor per age starting from Feudal, double gold income from mining).
    Edit: if you play with Chronicles civs too, you can switch Sicilians with Spartans (Polemarchs available, double food income, +500% creation time for skirmishers, pikes and villagers; and negate all bonus damage infantry could receive or receive a great amount of gold per minute per castle standing).

    It might be harder to pin down, but lots of bonuses and techs apply to unique units. Given the massive strength of unique units upgrades in this mod, it seems like there could be some synergies where everyone on the team makes unique units. Incas for free castles and (fabric shields?) come to mind. Berber camel archers and faster working castles could be good. Sicilians for faster building castles and double upgrading seargants. Maybe huns for, presumably, free stable tarkans made three times as fast. I'm sure there are ones I'm not thinking of.

    If you are in Amazon Tunnel, Hindustani + Magyars alone is already plenty scary due to the ability of the free scouts to kill buildings in feudal. Add Cumans for speed, and Gurjaras both for a faster feudal and extra bonus dmg and it's usually over in feudal unless you have an impressive indeed combo to fight it.

    Awesome content. Here are three more combinations:
    Towers: Koreans (range), Japanese, Georgians, Britons (attack), Chinese (HP), Incas (no stone), Spanish (faster build speed and stronger vills)
    --> I'd go with Koreans, Georgians, Incas and Spanish or Britons
    Villagers (aka most annoying for everyone): Spanish (attack, armor, hp), Berbers (speed), Poles (healing), Incas (more armor), Sicilians (can build castles in your base within a second)
    --> I'd go with Spanish, Berbers and Poles
    BBC: Bohemians (Houfnice + speed), Turks (range), Ethiopians (more blast damage), Spanish (attack speed), Celts (HP, attack speed and creation time), Italians or Slavs (costs), Mongols (speed)
    --> I'd go with Bohemians, Turks and Celts, plus rather Spanish or Slavs/Italians than Ethiopians. Note that they become very difficult to handle due to friendly fire (we don't need more blast damage, but we want more...) and are already speedy.

    Yet another video could be made on the forest nothing version, where 8 players are allied until all unique techs are researched, at which point it becomes a free-for-all (but everyone still retains all bonuses). The massive difference here is that you want combinations that buff/support your unique units more than anything else in the game.

    One nasty combo I managed to fine with this mod is how camels tend to receive far more substantial civ bonuses compared to other units. case and point, Gurjaras, scarcens, Berbers and Hindustanis too basically give everyone massive hp, melee armor and fast self-healing imperial camel units that's also absolutely destroy enemy cavalry and budlings with their massive attack bonus while also shredding everything else with rapid fire attacks from a unit that only cost gold.
    Another big combo that likes to play with are bohemians, Spanish, Burgundians and again Hindustanis but you can also replace them with Turks. In essence you have access to the deadliest gunpowder imaginable with rapid fire, high damage and mobility hand cannons that easily available in castle age thanks to the bohemian bonus. The choice between Turks and Hindustan's is mostly about preface at that point, do you want high health hand cannoneers that are back by long range bombards or do your hand cannons be the siege themselves with long range themselves plus high armor that most attack bounce off them.

    Another fun combo is Turks + Byz, you get long range bombard towers with large splash damage. With Byz hp bonus they are already strong and you could add Chinese for even more HP. Though I'd prefer Inca + Spanish to have fast built almost free bombard towers cos gold is gathered really fast and if it does run out, you can just build an easy trade thanks to Spanish team bonus.

    I was expecting Armenian Composite Bowmen as the choice archer unit, since they just ignore armor altogether. They also fire in a straight line, which at long ranges is kinda preferable.

      That civ is called Armenians. The Elite upgrade doesn't give +1 pierce attack, so they would lose the potential +10, making them worse off against non high pierce armor units. And then, the opportunity cost of not having another +10 from Vikings.

    Villager rush is most insane thing ever. Was in 4v4 and we couldnt do anything even with our team having Catas. They had Inca, Bengalis, Spanish and Berber... You cant win vs this combo when Spanish hits unique tech.

    Monks auto-convert once they get attacked, so if you can actually get them to survive for a little, they might not need that micro.
    Bengalis for +30/+30 armor
    Aztecs for +50 HP per tech
    Portuguese to make them free
    Spanish for conversion speed
    This kind of hinges on how Spanish Inquisition scales to 10x, exactly.
    Of course, the main issue now is the rest time after a conversion and the slow movement speed as well as entirely reactive (or micro intense) play.
    I don't think this is actually viable, but it could be damn annoying to play against.

    I forgot to comment on the last video. Playing against the AI, I like to use a tower strat, Koreans extra range, Japanese extra arrows, celts extra firing speed and then you can pick Britons for extra damage. Machine gun towers that obliterate everything coming at them.

    Everybody sleeping on the georgian malian lith tcs. Shooting +30 range, 80 arrows that have plus 20 damage. Each volley doing 30x80(2400) damage at 40ish range.

    armenians + aztec + bengalis + lithuanians = warrior priest for entire team with high hp, high attack, high armor, and trains super fast. can swap lithuanians with any other monk civ or infantry civ. for example, byzans for super fast healingor burmese for free techs and extra more attack. or even saracens for passive area of effect healing

    It always bothered me, that die onager move forward when they fire. Due to inertia, shouldn't they retreat a little, and when the arm hits the cross beam, move a bit forward again?

    Replace castles with Donjons, and you get something close to unbeatable. Not sure if unbeatable exists, because I can imagine a full Huscarl or Tarkan combo might be able to deal with those.

      37 range Hand Cannons that can be created near instantly are insanely strong, though they dont have truly insane attack in 10x. Fast elephants and siege combined is probably the optimal; Ethiopian, Mongol, and then your choice of two more upgrades.

    armenians should be pretty strong on the archer build but they don't really help their team mates much. but their UU would be insane with some archer boni, festroying high piercing armour enemies

      Iirc everyone gets 10 times the benefit from researching infantry armour at the blacksmith, independently. So one player on the team can have no techs researched in imp and no benefit but another, non-Romans, all three and +30/40.

    why you dont talk about bombard cannon??? you pick turks and ally celts, spanish, mongol. it's better than treb + onager combo
    for archer, just pick chinese. the chu ku no fires 22 arrows. i dont care how many pierce armor you have, you are taking tons of damage.

    I'm pretty sure georgian crash the game, at least it used to, not long ago. Just if anyone decides to try the broken hussars.

      It can, but generally it's only if you spin up too many at the same gather point. I was in a 3v3 and each player on my team had more than 1000 hussars on the field. The game starts too lag when you get close, so just move that gather point so they don't clump. If you're playing against AI, the AI won't move thew gather point so you are in a race against time where you have to start the fight before they crash the game, but be able to take on the 600+ cav they're throwing at you.
