We had great experiences several times on Royal. We sail on the Oasis class ships. Maybe research the ship that’s best for you. All cruise lines charge for pkgs. purchase your pkg on Black Friday when they drastically mark pkgs down. Soda pkg was only 8.99 per day when i purchased . Cruises have had sea passes and sail and sign cards for years that’s nothing new.

Sooo...I can't tell if you liked the cruise or not? It is really overwhelming on the big ships anymore. The Catibbean is horribly hot and the sun is intense. Be careful with burns. Honestly, rccl really has their act together over so many of the other ships. Just do your reading as soon as you can so there are no unpleasant surprises. We have tried so many other ships including Celebrity Cruises and we are back to RCCL. BTW, stay away from school vacations. It's nuts!

Here is the thing for EVERY VACATION. DO YOUR RESARCH PRIOR TO BOOKING AND PRIOR TO VACATION. ALL of the things that you named is on the website. There is even a section on "What all is included" . That way you would have known. Also there are tons of videos on the cruise lines on RUclips as well as the specific ship that you will be traveling on, which are really really helpful. There are also Facebook groups to join from your specific sailing, has plenty of information also you can ask tons of questions especially if it was your first time cruising. Would have made your first cruising sooooo much better. Seasick meds are a must just in case. These things are not specific to Royal Caribbean these are on most cruise you HAVE TO REASEARCH your vacations though. Any vacation

I did mines first time last week and it was only 3 days and I did so much research I explored so much of the app I called to ask questions I couldn’t find on the internet. One thing before any trip do your research the area the location make sure you know. I bought a bag for traveling for trying tourist area. Also the sea pass which I found helpful to know how you are spending. You don’t have no surprise charges your spending is shown for how much you spent a day while cruising let you know how much you will balance is. But I love to research now I am upset I didn’t check in my bags even with Carry ons it was exhausting towing a carry on we literally set until it was time to check in when we could have had or bags waiting at our door when we got there. Also to do check out we will let them take our bags cause when we had a issue we had to carry everything minding you we had more stuff cause we bought souvenirs on the bought and while visiting other the tourist area and trust me liquor gets heavy to carry after so long lol. Next time we will put our bags out and just carry our bought items and also be able to enjoy breakfast before or embarkation time other then that was my only issue I should have took more in consideration and I wish we would have just gotten the drink package because we found ourselves wanting more drink and calculating the drinks should have gotten the deluxe package. One think I learned about a trip is to treat yourself not cheap yourself. Going on a vacation is about enjoying yourself and I found not having any phone service was fine with me i didn’t want to be on my phone anyways I wanted to focus on enjoying myself on the cruise. But overall my experience on Royal was a 10 the service was 10 the help for the workers was 10 the staff was very friendly very diverse as mentioned and it found the ship to be very well organized and I did not have a hard time finding anything on the ship. Our room was serviced everyday new towels and they always left mail about any excursions or bought activities which I really love updates was always giving out I will definitely be cruising again already have my room booked a excursions paid drink package definitely paid for plane tickets paid room paid I won’t no issues on this trip I want vacationing to be the best experience and an easy experience by doing as much as I can to make it smooth. Heads up even if you do well on boats please bring motions pills ibuprofen Advils and first ad kit I even brought rubbing alcohol for my ears because yes ear pain from the water can be real I bought ice hot Neosporin
Sunscreen insect bit repellent. Besides that kick your feet up and enjoy the waves and all the activities and different people you will meet ❤

The things their complaining about are things that 95% of cruise line does. like if you don’t want to shop just don’t go in the stores. I been on Royal Caribbean 8 times and love each cruise Most of the worker goes above and beyond to make us happy on our vacation. this their first cruise wait till they go on other cruise line!

  • @TheW3rd0s
    @TheW3rd0s Год назад +29

Unfortunately, the things that you are complaining about is standard in the cruise industry. It honestly doesn’t matter which cruise line you go with internet, soda/alcohol drinks, specialty dinning are extra. The only exception is that Disney includes soda in room service in their standard fairs but they are 50% more than expensive other cruise lines. Anytime you are planning a vacation it is important to understand what is included and what isn’t.

      Hello,
Actually if you go with Celebrity, Holland some things are included. Oceania, regent seven seas, viking and seabourn they cover just about everything but as in every vacation it will obviously cost you more money.
My wife and I are going on Celebrity Equinox in October for the first time and Oceania Vista December 30th also for the first time.
Our travel agent did get us a all included group fare for Celebrity covering classic drinks , wifi and gratuities. Oceania we managed to get our airfare and transfers along with excursions included and ALL specialty restaurants as well.
Obviously Oceania will cost us more than Celebrity being a new ship but with only 1200 people we shall see if it's worth it as it sells itself as a more luxury country club vibe feel a step up we think from Celebrity in cuisine and service.
Either way your points are well taken.
      Good day.

@@jessigirlrae1688 I can assure you Oceania Vista the ship we are going on at the end of December is more expensive than anything Celebrity has dependent on what category you choose with only 1,200 passengers. Actually Oceania is a step up from Celebrity cruise line so we shall see as it will be our first cruise on that line.
Our first Celebrity cruise on Equinox was worth what we spent better overall than our past cruises on Norwegian and Carnival and we enjoyed so much we booked a 11 day 2025 cruise on Celebrity Beyond on one of there newer edge class ships.
Everyone has there opinions and budgets but for us smaller ships and more luxury, service, cuisine and entertainment are what we look for.
Less kids, water slides, rock climbing walls and mega ship passengers.

Before your next cruise, research cruise tips on RUclips. There's a lot of other cruisers who provide information on what to expect and not to expect for first time cruisers. Use your first time cruising experience as a lesson for future cruises. When I went on my first cruise back in 2012, there wasn't as much information out there then as it is today. Luckily, I was traveling with my best friend and her family and she had been on a couple of cruises already and she gave me some tips and once she told me to get was seasickness medicine. These things that you speak of, you will go through on every cruise line. I have sailed on others, but I will forever go Royal. I always get the soda package because I’m a VERY heavy soda and water drinker. Purchasing a soda without the package will cost you at least $2 per can. I always get my monies worth from the package. Plus, I refuse to drink a warm drink on ice. Pouring a warm soda on ice instantly turns it flat.

You can enjoy the sailing experience without shore excursions, keep that money! That food is EVERYTHING! Royal Caribbean is my choice and there are several RUclips videos to help you become your own travel agent. Regarding your luggage, just so you know, in the future, if you were to ever decide to bring a carry-on bag, a.k.a. a regular suitcase type bag. You could leave it at your door entrance to your room because that’s where your bags will eventually land. That way you don’t have to drag it around with you until your room is available and sometimes your room Stuart will allow you to go ahead and just put it in even though they’re not finished if they’re around your section.

Everything they are describing is standard cruise policy (except Virgin as wifi, sodas, etc come with the price). But other cruise lines charge for wifi and soda. Cruise lines use the “sail and “sign card because it’s easier and the same currency. It’s easy to check the balance on the app or website. Or even go to guest services to check. Everything they are describing so far is basic cruise knowledge. Hopefully the video gets better and they had an amazing time. Seems like a wonderful couple.

I loved your video! It is great to see a cruise experience though the lens of a first timer. I have sailed on lots of cruises (mostly with Royal) and forget how many things I take for granted and assume everyone else knows. Pro-tip: try Bonine for seasickness. It’s the best and is NON-DROWSY so you can enjoy your day without that “medicine head” feeling. You also MUST try the main dining room for dinner next time! As a D+ on RC the best advice I can give you is to do your research prior to cruising and this is for every line next there is big sale the week prior and of Thanksgiving that’s the best time to buy wi fi Speciality dining excursions and booking a cruise as for the drink package if you are not drinking 6+ drinks a day it is not worth it you can buy the non alcoholic package which includes water smoothies juices lattes soda daiquiri pina colada’s just to name a few it is much cheaper and both people don’t have to buy it all you have to do is wait 5mins and order another drink

You two are adorable. Enjoyed your review. Sorry you didn't know about the beverage package and the wifi ahead of time. Usually cheaper to buy the packages before you cruise. Also rooms are often not ready until 2 or 3 pm. Glad you still enjoyed it, even after the rough start. I made the mistake of not dropping off my bag before boarding on the last cruise. Had to drag it around for a while, so I'm empathized with you. 😃

@@ThatsJustTMI If you went through a travel agent, they should have told you. Shame on them. They probably wouldn't have said anything about the rooms not being ready on time, but they certainly should have told you about the drink packages. Also, since I always book in advance, my agent encourages travel insurance. If you get ill (before or during) it is covered. If you have to be life-flighted off the ship and spend time in a foreign hospital, it is covered. If some sort of pandemic hits and you are not allowed to leave the foreign country for two weeks, I'm pretty sure the hotels will be covered. Just something to think about.

On Royal I always get fantastic deals booking packages before I cruise. You can always cancel if you receive a better deal. All cruise ship have these packages. Celebrity (part of Royal) offers All Inclusive. There are so many RUclipss going into details on what is on your ship. You could have checked your account on your app. You could have checked on your tv. You could have brought cash and put it on your account when you boarded. I bring my yeti cup or hot/cold cup and then dispense the soda and pour it into my own personal cup to keep it cold. I keep my Royal Carribean cup as a souvenir cup and for water so I have two cups. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm an experienced cruiser and RC is my favorite line so far. It seems you experienced several surprises that you would have been prepared for with some research. There is SOOO much info out there that would have saved you some unnecessary headaches. Given what you experienced I'm sure your next cruise will be better and you will know what to expect. ALWAYS pack your own 1st AID kit and make sure you have meds for stomach upset, motion sickness, allergies, pain, cold meds, along with a few band aids and gauze...what they charge on the ship is way too expensive. Bring your own water bottle and book when the ships have freebies/discounts (drink package, wi-fi). There are sites that have calculators to help you decide if the drink package is a good option for you and you ship mate. Most of the promotions have to be purchased by both travelers. Also some of the activites (art show) offer free drinks, or are discounted on port days.

There is a lot of walking and waiting on the first day. You need to make sure that you have the app on your phone and book the shows that you want to attend. I do that while I am eating lunch. If the events are available before I board, I do it then. Royal Carribean ships are so large now if you do the Oasis class, you will have to learn how to get around the ship which might take a day or two to explore. Cruising is an experience that you grow into because your first cruise will be hectic until you catch on and figure out what works for you. You learn as you go along and it might cost you some money too if you don't know and don't ask. I take my own hot and cold up so that I don't have to drink out of the classes in the cabin. I also buy the soda package so that I can get my sodas from the machine. I use the hot/cold up for tea or coffee. I get it and then pour it into the hot/cold up. I also get fruit and yogurt, cookies and keep them in my refrigerator in my room for late night snacking if I don't want to stop for pizza after a show.

Was good to hear that you had such a good time on your first cruise. They can become habit forming. My wife and I have been on many, many cruises. We got married in 1995 and usually go on one cruise a year but in some years we make it on two. I'm a tightwad and hate wo waste money so I like an inside cabin. She likes a balcony which is almost twice the cost of an inside cabin. Beside the inside cabin being cheaper, it is much nicer for me because I can sleep as late in the morning as I want. With a balcony cabin you will be awakened when the sun comes up, be it 4, 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning. I hate that. We've done all our cruises on either Royal Caribbean or Carnival and like them both. I think Carnival is a lot louder around the pool but they are both very nice. We did go on the Oasis of the Seas right after it was launched and it is BIG. The bad side of big is that the lines are much longer but there is more to do on a big ship. Of all the cruises we have been on, we would say the cruise to Alaska was the best. Our next cruise will be on a Royal Caribbean ship out of Galveston, TX in September. For the most part, we don't even leave the ship on our cruises. We enjoy staying on the ship and when it is in port, it is much quieter around the pool.
Hope you have many more happy cruises. Isn't it wonderful to go on a vacation and not have to help someone clean the house or help with the cooking?

Too much money for soda package. Secondly, absolutely NOT on the wifi. Could wait til you stop at port and use cellular signal. I enjoyed watching your video. I’m also happy that overall you had a good experience. I have done 16 cruises. I enjoy this mode of vacationing. A cruise that I would recommend is a Mediterranean cruise either leaving from Barcelona or from Rome. Here are a couple of suggestions: buy your internet before you are on the ship. It’s so much cheaper. The buffet is fine, but sitting in a MDR (main dining room) which is complementary is so much better. You are given the royal treatment by the staff. Also the food tend to taste better. The West Indian spread that you had in the buffet can only be gotten in the buffet. So you need to check to see what’s happening in the buffet. Also, you can walk up to the MDR’s and they will find you a table. You may have to wait a bit, but it’s normally not too long. If you are going to eat in the specialty restaurants, purchase it before you get on the ship it’s cheaper. Btw anything that you prepurchase can be cancelled. I often purchase items ( excursions, meals, etc) and if they have a special sale around a holiday, then I cancel and purchase at the lower price. As for the drink package, they are too expensive. You can purchase a drink (soda and alcohol) at a bar. It will cost so much less than a package. For a package to be worth it, you would have to drink a lot daily. There are lots of things that you can do to make your experience better. I would suggest watching other cruise videos on RUclips. There are many video that will give you tips and tricks to enhance and make your cruise experience smoother. Also, you should always get cruise insurance. In the USA, our personal insurance don’t cover medical overseas. I don’t know what it’s like in Canada. Most ships carry insurance as well, but there are a lot of good companies that will insure you. Check around. Good luck on your trip in September.

I was on the symphony of the seas last week.
About the spending, you could check your spending on the tv in your room. It shows the spending for each seapass. I prefer to have it on the seapass so I can check it all the time. Without the internet package I would not be able to check my banking app.
Also the internet package is way too expensive when cruising in Europe as a European. When we were at sea we were doing stuff on the ship or sleeping. When in port we got 4G or 5G connection with roaming which has no additional cost in the EU. So we basically had internet for most of the time we were awake.
We had the drink package with the cup. It only annoyed me we had to find out or ask where to get our cup instead of getting it during boarding.
There should also be signage around the dispensers that only the RC Drink package cup would work. It would make people buy the drink package and also shorten the wait times when someone without the cup would just not give up on getting the soda he/she didn't pay for.

I see you guys are new to YT. Congratulations for making the jump! I guess you guys have learned now that you have to research things before you go. Nobody likes to feel sheepish. Because that just means that we could’ve done something differently ourselves. And it’s unfortunate that you did not enjoy your trip as much as you could have if you had done just a little bit of research before you left. So maybe next time you’ll actuallycheck some things out learn some of the terminology so that you won’t be so confused and when you go down to waterslide you’ll expect the water to be there when you get to the bottom. I’m personally pretty proud of you the fact that you just went down to slide. I’m terrified of waterslide, so yeah, that would definitely not be something for me. And I’m glad to hear you say that the water depth was a little deeper than you were anticipating. That’s definitely something to jot down in the book of cruise info.
