Wow, Matt is such a great instructor and now mentor to you and others of us also, thanks for taking us on the ride. Your car 🚙, you do what you want, that’s the beauty do it. 👊🦊
Agreed Frank, I enjoy sharing Matt;s teachings with everyone and well said.
12:41 "it was a little harder than we thought", this should be the motto for every foxbody project LOL Nothing is easy as its supposed to be lol
Man, that is SO SO true!
@@GearHead704 LOL Should slap that one on a shirt lol
Say, that's a pretty good idea 🤔
@@GearHead704 💯💯💯👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Matt and Matt al it takes is money.
hah hah, yup pretty much and a good back! LOL
It’s your car man.... Do what you want! I like it!
Cool, thanks man, I love it!
Rat rod ssp!! Awesome idea!!! 😁👍
Yeah, I really think it's the way to go with this build.
Wow Florida highway patrol original nice!
Good wet sanding info great video 👍
Thanks Kevin! I've been enjoying catching up on your videos today.
Hell yeah. 704 represent.
💯
Now that is pretty cool ,I've never seen that done before ..
Me neither, I can't wait to see the finished product.
Matt and matt you started the race go the for it , as allways great content . SSP all the way!
Hey Mike! Thanks man, yeah this one is going to be a fun build
Sanding is so much fun! Rat Rod would be cool 😎. Keep the videos coming!
Yeah I enjoyed it actually. Great to see the tan paint come from under there. Thanks.
Ha ha ha matts face was priceless he thought you were sanding his car in the bloopers
I love the bloopers! Thanks for sticking to the end.
Keep at it. It looks good.
Thanks buddy, I really like it.
Wax on, wax off 😂😂 good to see the progress on the SSP!!
LOL, yeah it's basically like that! Thanks man I hadn't worked on it for a long time.
whole car sanded my vote
Cool, yeah I think it's going to look good.
Man my arms are sore just watching you guys sand lol. I like the tan 👌
Hah hah, yup it was not a good day for my arms or my back actually! LOL
Oh man that is going to look sick, but is going to be a lot of work.
Yeah, next time we are getting the DA sander on it!
I would paint the car as soon as possible. However, a variety of different cars is great. Each person’s character.
Well said all the way around. We'll see what he does with it.
Hey Matt....you can’t go wrong with the black and cream look! The fox bodies look great with that color scheme! Living in Florida I’m a tad biased...
You might be biased, but you're right!
Awesome! Think it'll look good, patina is cool!
Thanks, I think so too!
I dislike any car that isn’t wearing original paint. Go for it!
LOL, I love that! Yeah it's going to wear it proud although it might be a bit "ugly" 😁
I’d sand the whole car down as much as you can, and give it a coat of satin clear, the FHP colors are so cool! Unless they are behind you.
LOL, you've got that right! Must avoid them being behind at all costs LOL
Hi good formation
Hey, thanks
The sanded look is gonna be cool. Go for it! hilljackmach1 style!
Yes, Tim is exactly who I thought about! LOL
Matt some advice if you are interested, we always used a few drops of Dawn dish liquid in our sanding water. It helps take care of any fingerprint oils, wax, or grease that may be on the surface so it doesn't get ground into the paint and it reduces the friction a little to make the sanding a bit easier.
And yes, I have done a bit of everything in my lifetime.
P.S. Matt, I can see that you need someone to take that old Ford truck and get it out of your way... I'd be happy to help you out and do that for you... Lol!
Hey Robert, we already did another session of sanding that you'll see in an upcoming video, but I'll look at dawn for the next one. Hah hah, the truck is pretty nice right? I'm definitely not giving it up though LOL. I've got a couple of videos on the channel if you haven't seen them yet. They are in a playlist (3 videos I think).
@@GearHead704, I didn't really think you'd be willing to part with it. I've seen the videos, other than color it's almost exactly like the 69' I had many years ago, and yes it is a nice one.
@@TrojanHorse1959 thanks man!
It’s about time you got workin in your cars again! 😁
LMAO! But actually, you got that right!
Cool idea. Man....I'm looking at this SSP...and I see a lot of work. 👀
Glad to hear the Chiro is working on the back 👍
Man, the work never ends on this car, but at least I stole the engine for my vert LOL
@@GearHead704 that was probably the best call you made 👍
I think you're right! LOL
I think a two tone paint job would look good on the notch. Only repaint what you have to & keep it budget by using single stage paint. Since your gonna have the car on the track you want to put your money in the performance.
Definitely the performance is the main angle for sure buddy! Thanks as always for the support.
Love the idea! Looks pretty cool! But if you're gonna do it, do the whole thing. Half and half would look weird I think.
Agreed, we're going to do the whole thing after some more thinking about it.
@@GearHead704 Nice! Gonna look killer!
Guys please purchase his merch so he can wrap this car lol
Good luck buddy
🤣. I see what you did there Bruce! Oh and you may be on to something 😉
It looks great🤘
Drewski! Thanks man, I really like it.
That’s a cool look. I would have had the power sander out after 10 minute of that though, lol.
hah hah, yeah we should've done that
I use my vacuum da sander to do this. Much faster and way more control of the material as you remove it. Also much cleaner. I usually start with 180 or 220 and go finer from there.
It's funny you mention that, as we'll be using a DA sander the next time you see us working on this LOL
Think she'll look very distinct when you're done got to be some kind of power tool
I think so too. I'm really happy about the direction, just going a lot slower than I wanted it to LOL
Would be cool if you did the whole thing but ya would take ages. On the flip side it's a great way to block sand the whole thing and get it lazer straight for another paint job in the future.
Yeah, I"m kind of thinking that it will be great prep for a future paint job as well. I'm getting a DA sander for the next time.
I am bringing my other foxbody to you ASAP LOL
LOL, better wait to see the finish product first
Seven months later, and I'm finally getting around to some of your older videos. Interesting idea! Go for it. I've got a CHiPs car that is currently an adequate quality Reef Blue. Under that is gray. And under that is the original Black & White! White doors and roof. Black everywhere else. Engine compartment is black, under hood and under trunk is gray. I asked my daughters if I should do like you are. I got a big NO! lol They like the Reef Blue.
I appreciate you watching my old videos. I think you your daughters are smart, as I love Reef Blue too LOL
Wow is that going to be a lot of work but I’m curious to see what it looks like when your done, good luck Matt.
For sure and thanks man!
I think it will look pretty cool and recognizable. Kind of like the car, I forgot the IG name, that has red white and blue painted in random spots on it. Its a GT.
Oh yeah, I think that's HillJackMach1, and that's who I thought of LOL
@@GearHead704 Yep! Thats it! No mistaking it when u see it! lol
Thinking of doing this on my SN95 which its rare Iris factory color was covered. Very time consuming. Good luck!
That will be cool and thank you.
I repainted 2 Florida trooper cars. Both were originally tan cars that were painted black leaving tan on roof and trunk. Didn't make sense to me but I was told that's how Florida ordered them. Anyone remember Mark Ray's Fla trooper car? That was one of my favorites before it was stolen.
That's cool, yeah it's wild they did the tan first and then the black on top, because it seems that so much of the car is black LOL. I love the look though.
Another great one, Matt. I used a DA sander, much faster. Saves your arms.
Great suggestion Jim! We'll be doing just that in an upcoming video after learning a lesson doing it by hand LOL
@@GearHead704 LOL 😂🤣😂
Year 2030 Matt's road racer is finished. Just kidding. Looking good and definitely will be different which is great
LOL, you may not be that far off hah hah
Paint and body work is something I’ve always wanted to learn
Matt has me trying everything LOL. Hope you're doing well DV.
I like it man great job I hope to get my RUclips similar like ur channel
Thanks, I hope it goes quicker for you, I've been doing this for more than 2.5 years straight now LOL, but it's fun too, just a grind at times.
Keep at it. If it was easy everybody would do it. At the end of the day. It is your Fox Coupe. And you can do it how you want it. And how long it takes you. It is going to take you. We ain't Bill Gates. We work with what our budget allows us to do.
Hey Macho! Well said on all aspects. iI want to do it myself, so time is something else like money that we don't have unlimited of. Thanks for the support.
@@GearHead704 just do what you can. While you get your back better. So keep it trucking. And keep posting up videos as your going along. I watch them all. They are motivation for everyone that has a Fox or any project car.
I sanded my fox to mostly bare metal using a orbital sander and many pieces of sandpaper, took me like a month and at the end I felt dead inside
Yikes, sounds like a lot of work for sure. We are switching to an orbital sander next time.
Matt, I know you don't have an unlimited budget but what about a wrap?
I have thought about it. I think that might be a second stage.
B.R.A.V.O. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, I'm excited about it.
GearHead704 you said it was going to be fun. I think not LoL
LOL, yeah I didn't know what I was getting into for sure.
use a D,A sander with 800 wet..
Great advice, we figured that out later, so you'll see that in an upcoming video 😁
Hey Matt your buddy Ron here you asked what we all think how you should do up your SSP A true foxbody brother would say do what you want it’s your ride I love the comradely of true fox lovers there’s nothing like it on earth
Hey Ron! Always great to see you in the comments and you're right. I appreciate it and I'm going to have fun getting the paint to look like this.
Well the other Matt has a “peaches” so keep sanding on it, leave it different colors and it can be “patches”...
LOL< that's actually a pretty good one actually!
Very cool Matt..... I have a friend of mine that I've been trying to get to come to Foxtoberfest and chocolate fox who has an original paint from service FHP that has all the equipment to go with.... And a very cool backstory....i like the direction your going with the car..... Also. I think you should do a shirt and sticker give away... Just saying!!😜😜 keep at it bud!!😁👍👊
I hope to meet your friend at one of those events. Yeah, it's going to be fun, and I'm definitely going to have one of those giveaways for sure.
@@GearHead704 saweet!!!! Ill be waiting for that giveaway..... I need more stickers for the other cars!!😜😜👍👊
Wet sanding is a skill and a lot of work! Love the shirts👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks man! Yeah I rally don't have the skills yet, but I'm learning!
No rat rod... save her! Please..
She will be saved, but first it's going to be tracked, and then a final restoration.
I if your willing to not have it look perfect, you might as well color match what you want and just spray paint it.
Agreed, I'm going to go for that color match on both sides.
Body work... not my deal 😂
Wasn't mine either, but Matt has me doing everything LOL
Im here champ💪🏾
Jay C! Thanks mane, always appreciate the support.
@@GearHead704 yea no problem champ keep grinding
👊
Eh it's ok but it's not what I would like, but that's not my race rod lol so I say do to it what you will, and enjoy it!!!
Definitely not for everybody, but I do like getting everyone's opinion on it! Thanks man, appreciate that! and you watching the video.
Nice video!! You'll spend months sanding that car down like that!! ;-)
You got that right! We take a different approach next time.
My wrist hurts watching this lol. Strip it and start over i say
Yeah, my back wasn't feeling good after that LOL
No man
LOL, I figured that some would feel that way, which is cool. I like to hear the opinions.
That's going to be a big boring job removing the black that way. It should look pretty cool I think. (I'm saying that just to be nice) Haha
LOL SFT, but yeah it's going to take way too long this way, so we've got something else planned for next time 😉
First
You always help me realize my video posted on time LOL. Have a great day Chris!
@@GearHead704 lol. Right on. You to Matt!
I personally don't like the color. But....
No worries buddy, I appreciate the opinion.
Money is no issue for you.I think you should spend thousands a new paint job 👍
Did that once, not going that route this time LOL
I hate sanding!
It took a long time that's for sure.
Stop sanding in circles!!!!!! Straight lines.
Ah, newbiw here LOL
Just start putting videos up every two weeks. Too much filler.
Sorry, you didn't enjoy this one Scott. Certainly some are better than others.
Wait a second Scott, I thought you moved on from my channel 11 months ago? Welcome back LOL
