I love riding caltrain, I once did a trip of taking train all around the bay. I took bart from Millbrae to Oakland coliseum. I then transfered to capitol corridor to San Jose, then caltrain back to millbrae. I plan to do it again soon.
From around 17:30 to around 19:55 used to be the vast Southern Pacific Bayshore switching(marshalling) yard AND steam and diesel locomotive maintenance yard. It was all torn down by 1980.
@@StrollwithMe1 Hello from Peru. I have read that California is going to donate those diesel train to Lima City ? What do you think about ? Here in Lima the Mayor is evaluating the donation because it is "as is" , but it looks like to be a good old nice and well-maintained train ? Thanks in advance.
Lots of memories. I have taken that train hundereds of times. I lived along that whole rout. I actually worked on those cars when they refurbished. Having said that, I now live in Japan and the train system in the USA is a freaking joke compared to here.
That's true, trains in Japan are many levels more timely and reliable. I still like taking the Caltrain when I can, but it's out of the way for most people
Yeah, I hate the gallery cars with a passion too! They are such a goofy design! I had a coworker who would spend up to an extra hour working in a coffee shop just so that he could avoid the Gallery car and take one of the Bombardier bilevel trains! These cars are widely hated.

Caltrain is very good. I'll ride it too.
I missed San Francisco! One of the coolest place I've ever been... was there a decade ago 😅

Thats cool, yeah that area is so barren now
Very cool Caltrain video! I rarely ride Caltrain and I live right here in the Bay Area on the East Bay. Thanks for sharing!
That's great, thanks for watching! Good luck with the channel!

@pepequispemamani5325 oh that's pretty interesting. The inside of the trains are nice. I don't know anything about the mechanical parts or reliability
Great videos! This was a semi-regular trip for me as a grad student (also once by bike roughly following this route, but that’s a bit longer).
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@@StrollwithMe1 ....I used to take it a lot too. But now that I live in Japan I know what a pathetic joke the USA train system really is.
The upper floor with the open middle, reminds me of an old prison!
Haha, I don't know if that's what they were going for.
