It is 2 am in the morning in RSA, NW in Mafikeng , I am listening to this song, it says it all. I am someone who ibelieve that better days are coming. It is my first time listening to this song with understanding. Hang in the, better days are very close❤️
My friend Michael Rorke met a girl he fell in love with who was still a virgin and would always come to me for advice on how to get some honey 🍯 and I told him to be patient but not give up and promised me to marry her when she did give him some.he eventually got some honey married her raised a family 👪 and this song came out just when she gave in to him and it was a song we listened to throughout the years till they were both taken from me in a tragic accident.3 months before they passed away I visited him and he reminded me of how they would fight when they first met but had grown so close over the years and his prayer to God was that God take both of them together as she didn't know her father or have a family and he couldn't think of him leaving her behind all alone and God answered his prayer.i miss u my friend but one day I will be with u all again.Barry Dunn..South Africa.

Sanelisiwe Lorraine Xulu : Hi Lorraine. This is one of the best classics ever. I'm 43yrs old now , but its only today that I know who sings this beautiful song. Be strong my dear sister. Hold on to your dreams.
My mom loves this song so much, having to grow up under very difficult circumstances she rose above all adversities. Today she holds a top position in the health sector and has obtained her honorary degree. Mom you are my inspiration
This song played on the radio every morning before school. The days I thought maybe I won't go to first period this song would pop on the radio y'all talking about someone getting dressed and running all the way to school cause I had a dream and had faith . I graduated highschool with the inspiration of this song it new just how I felt. Thanks guys for this song. In the of God you help me tremendously while in highschool love you for that
For those of us who grew up in Chicago I believe this song has a special place in our struggles to aspire to succeed regardless of our surroundings. I forgot about this song but so glad I came across it here on youtube. LOVE THIS SONG!
I grew in in Chicago, Henry Horner Homes. This was always playing and was an inspirational hymn to us. I'm almost 63 years old now and this song brings back great memories-"What you Get is What you do" was always my favorite line. I went on to get my Masters and have been working for City Government 34 years!! Hold ON!!
I'm in LA chasing my dreams and whenever I feel like I'm about to fail, I play this song. I'm from 112th & Normal. Kenwood Academy. This is TOTALLY a Chicago song!
This song made me cry when I did not yet have anything to cry about as a poor 10 year old kid growing up in the projects. I listened to this song over and over and over and cried and cried and cried. Now, today, this song came to mind and I'm crying again. Thank you for posting this song and keeping such a beautiful message alive. I wish I had remembered this song when times got hard. Thank you my brother Wee Gee.
Man my older brother used to play this song all the time . well i was struggling with my addiction to drugs and alcohol . and i was looking and feeling horrible and my brother played this song and i just started crying like a baby . God was cleaning my spirit threw this song . i begged God to please take away my terrible addiction away from me . and he did today i have 46 days clean and sober . thank you Jesus' for your love and mercy and grace ! I continue to listen to this song for strength and inspiration when i need it . God is amazing and wee gee was definitely one of his Angel's to pass the message in this amazing song of love and hope .
Angel I struggled for many years myself doing drugs on the streets of Chicago. I'm ok now but the fight goes on. We will have to deal with this for the rest of our lives because addiction is not curable, we are just in remission. The devil wants our souls back because we served him well when we were on drugs, lying, stealing, and cheating. We got to keep God in our life because this is a spiritual battle for our souls.
This song is so close to my heart. I played it repeatedly whilst studying under difficult and almost impossible conditions. I nearly quit my studies but it kept me going until I completed and graduated.
You gave me strength mane. I think I'll come back to this comment after I have graduated. I am under pressure to do well this term but God got me. Spread Love Aubrey. Love and Light.

It’s 2023 and I remember this song from 1979. I was 17 years old and fell in love with the lyrics. We All need someone to care about us and show us the way!!❤
This is a classic!!! We sang this at my 8th grade graduation back in the early eighties in Chicago. This song should be played worldwide all day everyday.

A Chicago classic. I remember when this came out back when living in Chicago was the most amazing thing in the world. I lived in Roseland then. It was like paradise. Back when you knew everybody on your neighborhood and everybody had each other’s back. When sitting on the porch was the coolest thing you could do and kids respected their elders. Damn, what a time.
Lost my best friend of 40+ yrs 5yrs ago today this was our song. I'm sitting here listening and crying I miss her so much nothing left but memories. She will forever be in my heart until we meet again💗
This isn't oldschool music, this is real school music!!! Real is the opposite of fake, & today's music seems so fake!!! This song is powerful & inspirational. 🙂😀🤗
What a powerful song for youth of all generations. We sang this song for my graduation, and the lyrics stand the test of time. I heard this song on the radio today and called my children so they can listen to it. I haven't heard a song since that truly moves youth in a positive direction the way that this song does. There will never be another. This is truly a lifetime anthem.
Can't imagine how 94 people could dislike this song. Let's hope they find a positive message in their lives to "Hold On" to and believe in love. With all going on around us, the world could find inspiration in this 10:08 of truly great lyrics and vocals.
Funny how these comments bleed love, but you harass those who give a thumbs down. This is what the song is about. Anyone can love their own and those that ride with them, how about loving your enemies and even easier those that disagree with you you don't have to vocalize it. Let it blend, let it be.
My great grandmother would play this song every morning while we sat at the dining room table eating our breakfast before school. I can still hear us kids singing along with the music. My late father father in South Africa, Abuti Abbie Kotsokoane, used to rock this in the car when on road trips. We were in our teenage years maybe even younger than that. Never really listened to the words. Now 44 years old I am still enjoying it and wish I can thank him in heaven.

Tears flow down my face every time I hear this song! Reminds me of a more innocent time in my life in southside Chicago. Dreams are the wings of the mind. Dreams are the sunshine of the mind. Deep shit bro!
This is a timeless and inspirational classic by Wee Gee. Growing up in the late 70 to the early 80's my Dad use to play this song until tears ran down his cheeks. I decided to listen to the song to hear what was sad about it, and oh to my surprise! what an inspiration waited for me in the lyrics of this amazing song. Thank you Wee Gee for telling the truth as it is!
Oh Lordy Lord! In Living Memory Of My Father. He used to rock this song in his vintage Chevrolet Commando car in a cassette when I was in a diaper I think. "Love Is truly Stronger Than Hate, All You Need Is A Faith In Your Dream".... Children Of Today Don't Know what We Are Talking About! All They Know Is Play Stations And Electro House Music etc..... "Children Hold On To Your Dreams."
Now this is the song that children need to hear today. I sang this at my 8th grade graduation. This song is a testament of having FAITH in your dreams and not getting sidetracked by people who do not BELIEVE in your vision. It is a challenge to work hard and even though some people are going through alot now...all you need is FAITH and you have to keep going. Don't give up and believe in love. Dreams are the sunshine of the mind. You can fly anytime you like. Kids need inspirational songs!
I song this song at my 8th graduation ceremony at Parkside Elementary School on the South Side of Chicago I love that School and this song 4 life in 1985.who with me very inspiring and inspirational. Ms.Hall and Ms.Smedley I love you and I miss you. Thanks from Lisa Terry
I remember when Tom Joyner would play this every morning on WJPC before.i would go to Bryn Mawr Grammar School in 1979 here in Chicago this song would bring me to tears everytime i would hear it even now when i hear this song I bring me to tears because we are losing so many kids to gun violence not just in Chicago but all over i hope and pray that we can have peace and safety in this world and our children can hold on to there dreams.Peace And Blessings To All ✌✌
This was one of our class songs for our 8th grade graduation in "81" and I was motivated by it then and it does the same thing to me now. If we could just get everybody to live accordingly..... STOP THE VIOLENCE!
Heard this for the first time in Chicago last weekend on the radio.... DAMN! This is so SOULFUL... This is REAL TALK, for all people... Kind of put me into an nostalgic daze of an era that I didn't get to experience. With all of the things going on in the Midwest, we need to take heed to this song!
This was my daughter's 8th grade grad song. When the hook played at the ceremony, tears were filling my eyes. I knew this song from my youth when my dad played the radio and would sing this song (drunk of course :) ). But it is such a powerful song that to this day it still touches me in a special way. Even as an adult I still want to believe in my dreams and will hold on to my dreams...
Tears rolling 😢.. my dad's favorite song. He passed away about a month ago. Miss him so bad ,if we could only turn back time. RIP daddy I really do love and miss you alot. I miss our long conversations when we used to hit the road. Wish I could just hear your voice one more time ,all the laughter we had , your good advise and all your support you always gave us❤
I heard this song in 2010 at 35 yrs old and broke down crying I remember hearing it a thousand and one times as a child but I didn't get it until I was an adult looking at my kids.
It's 2022's last month and this song still hit hard. We thank you for your kind contribution to the music industry 🙏 This will never lose taste. The message will remain relevant in years to come.
I first heard this song when I was a teenager when the kids in Atlanta were being killed every day for like a month or so and I fell in love with this song it was very inspirational a very powerful to me and I never forget it more than 35 years later
Love the song his voice was so beautiful. No -one can replace him as lead singer from the Dramatics singing our favorite hits .One for my playlist .Gone to soon but never forgotten.
Wee Gee and Ron Banks were the voices that makes "Watcha see is Watcha Get" so very, very, very memorable to me...smh And collectively, the Dramatics were one of the greatest groups ever recorded. They really were magical voices...and Wee Gee added to that magic. Thank you brother Wee Gee, you left your everlasting mark. Job well done. RIP (tears)

I was in a gang. Born in Chicago but raised in Waukegan. I did a lot of time so I know people from all over the the state. I know that when they put leadership in Super Max prisons, Structure left and now you have CHi RAC, sinceless crimes against our own kind. Sure there was always gangbanging since the 70's in Chicago, but the lack of Structure made the next generation worse and the Principalities of this world knew it. Remain Blessed! HE'S coming soon and there will be Eternal PEACE sooner than you think.

I am truly sorry for your loss. After losing William it has been 20 years to be able to listen to his voice without falling apart. I learned the soul of a person is the memories they leave with us, the smiles they leave in our hearts. HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAMS.
I think this song is a positive influence on our kids of today. It should be played at high school graduations in the low income communities. DREAMS ARE THE WINGS OF THE MIND YOU CAN FLY ANYTIME YOU LIKE.
I'm in my final year in university and to say life has been hard (financially and otherwise) would be a spectacular understatement, I am struggling; but I'm also pushing on. I find myself here quite a lot, but I think that's because I need the motivation. I promised myself at the beginning of the year that no matter how difficult it may be, I'll hunker down and finish this year strong. I'm well on my way to fulfilling that promise now that I'm left with one more class before the end of my academic calendar. This has been one of the songs that kept me going; one day when life is better, I'll play it once more to remind myself of how far I've come. Until that day comes, we live in the hope that things will get better... and that in the end we will persevere.
This is 2023 and Our children and Grandchildren, even us Adults need this kind of encouragement and reminder to hold onto your dreams and your Faith!! May God continually Bless the Family of this Late artist, as he Blessed us through his gift of song.💯💞🙏🏾🕊️
This song always brings a tear or two to my eyes. I always feel cleansed of heaviness when I listen to it. I’m thankful that the creator moved the hearts and minds of those who gave us this treasure of a song.

God bless you till time stands still.

YESSS HE IS !
"Children Hold On To Your Dreams."
so true
+Tebogo M I just wonder, are you not Tebogo Matime the 1098 DJ. If you are, I grew up listening to such on the station with the mind of it's own.
No Lungile, I am not... I am a DJ though, but in the East Rand... Good Music hey...
we are all children of God so hold on to your dream and love will shine on you one day God Bless you ll
i was a kid when i heard this song im 51 thanks to god an still holding. on to my dream.
Every time I hear this beautiful message it does my heart so much good. Thank you Wee Gee.
I remember when Tom Joyner would play this every morning on WJPC before.i would go to Bryn Mawr Grammar School in 1979 here in Chicago this song would bring me to tears everytime i would hear it even now when i hear this song I bring me to tears because we are losing so many kids to gun violence not just in Chicago but all over i hope and pray that we can have peace and safety in this world and our children can hold on to there dreams.Peace And Blessings To All ✌✌
Wow I use to live across the street from Bryn Mawr, on 73rd Jeffrey
This was one of our class songs for our 8th grade graduation in "81" and I was motivated by it then and it does the same thing to me now. If we could just get everybody to live accordingly..... STOP THE VIOLENCE!
This reminds me of my son that committed suicide a year go to keep me busy even started my own clothing online shop www.mastylesexpress.com/
Amen and Amen
Heard this for the first time in Chicago last weekend on the radio.... DAMN!
This is so SOULFUL... This is REAL TALK, for all people... Kind of put me into an nostalgic daze of an era that I didn't get to experience. With all of the things going on in the Midwest, we need to take heed to this song!
This is CHICAGO!!! It kills me for what's happening in my city right now!!! (tears)
Sis, I'm praying that a brighter day comes to Chi-town... It's hurting all of us, indeed.

How can anyone listen to this song and not damn near breakdown in tears? This will get you through the rough times, what a song!
Tears rolling 😢.. my dad's favorite song. He passed away about a month ago. Miss him so bad ,if we could only turn back time.

Donna B
Thank you Donna!
He's a great vocalist...but he was only one of the Leads for the Dramatics not the only lead...L. J. Reynolds and Ron Banks were some of the others...
RIP (tears)
Amen
Up at the top it:s room for all. At the bottom is crowded y:all
Hold on to your dreams
From WeeGee's family to yours we thank you for holding on to your dreams! William loved music, he loved his fab fans and friends. He was so excited about this project and the message he prayed it would convey in the hearts of "young or old". HOLD ON

The beauty of this song is not all about struggle,it's the love we as parents and grandparents inculcated into them, without us as parents realisation sing the values we shared with our kids would evolve them into great parents,I love every word of this song,I tear up every time

How can people dislike this song when it's one of the most positive songs I've ever heard in my life? May God bless them nonetheless.

1980- My freshman year in college. Was the best slow jam of the year in the clubs. Ten minutes of holding on tight to the one you loved and being inspired

Brings tears to my eyes
Chicago kids please hold on and make it. I know it's hard there for y'all. I know it will all get better
Hold on Earl Holmes
Thank god i found this track and will play it forever indeed life is hard and unfair thanks wee gee for this nice song
My High School and Middle School boy's get dress to this wonderful encouraging song every morning before school. Before bed it's playing on my 71 inch TV. Very inspirational song. Thank Wee Gee💓

I am truly sorry for your loss. After losing William it has been 20 years to be able to listen to his voice without falling apart. I learned the soul of a person is the memories they leave with us, the smiles they leave in our hearts. HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAMS.
One of my childhood friends was killed bye a stray bullet and I remember this song playing in the background
So sorry for your loss.smh.. R.I.P Coleman Stewart
Much ❤. I hope you achieved it all and still going strong
This is 2023 and Our children and Grandchildren, even us Adults need this kind of encouragement and reminder to hold onto your dreams and your Faith!! May God continually Bless the Family of this Late artist, as he Blessed us through his gift of song.💯💞🙏🏾🕊️

This was the Class Of 80 theme for every HS in Gary Ind, Lew Wallace still have this song to this day and will listen to it when having a rough time. They just don't make music like this any more. Really good music died out in the late 80's sadly.
I graduated from there in 1987. Did you have any relatives who played ball there?
