Love this one. I’m considering getting an international licence an hiring a scooter. Many times just used transport or hired mountain bikes. So true about the fluidity of how it just works
You won’t regret it scooters are great and for $10 a day how can you not lol I love them I’ve prob driven 3 months everyday if I count all my trips and no issues
It's also the speed. In Australia people drive 60 km...in SE Asia it's 30km mostly...you can't assume that people will follow rules you learned in Australia. The best thing is to at least take a driver for a few weeks to get a feel for it. Familiarize yourself with the driving/riding culture.
The first thing I do when arriving in Bali is hire a scooter. Only costs around $6 Aussie per day - much cheaper than paying a local driver. On my first two trips to Bali, I didn't have the guts to ride a bike. However on my third trip I took the plunge. You get so much more out of this brilliant island when you rent a bike 🛵
Mate love the video I ride over there all the time was there a month in August 2022 and you are so right there is a respect 🙏 on the roads over there and a lot of fun if only it was like that here in N Z
The first time ya ride in Bali is a big learning curve! I have many years experience of motorbikes etc if your not a very very confident rider and have great awareness and motor skills don't even think about hiring a scooter, organized chaos but when you get in the swing of things it's great and bloody good fun great exploration tool! But not for the inexperienced. People that hate on it should keep to themselves if it's not for you that's fine
Driving calmly, not to fast, keep focus in whole of your environtment in road traffic, tolerance with other rider/vehicle, give some sign with lamp or horn for warn another vehicle if you need some change line or turn or cross the street.
Great to see some tourists finally rolling in. Have you retired in Indonesia? Im always keen to learn more about the arrangements to make this possible. Keep up the good work.
Hi Murray, I need your hair style, I'm losing mine too. The only time I ride a scooter in Indo is if I'm outside the city limits. Outside of that I ride as a passenger.
Loads road accidents involving tourists, many also that have to get evacuated home for hospital treatment or in a coffin.....and they are alsi regularly GoFundMe pages to get medical treatment paid for foreigners that have not understood how to drive like locals
As local... just keep in mind this one thing. Someone did something, it's your responsibility. So as others. Works both ways. If you know that, you already set. It's like the holy grail of the customs here. Also people can be angry/blame you if Doing sudden movement Failed to be aware of other riders/people Forcefully cutting people's way ( junction, someone start to accelerate, and you just cut them, only in these place you'll know) Also... cmon.. that helmet... can be considered illegal. You might get a ticket for that.
Thanks 🌟💛🌟. You’re amazing.

No need for license to hire a scooter mate I’ve hired one for 4 months no license no issue just where shoes and a helmet and you won’t get pulled over
@@zee4798 nah but you need you give them a copy of your passport to hire
Totally convinced me not to ride scooters on our next trip! Thanks for the tips.

Great
5:40 I heard a beat up 2stroke!
The system seems to work for me , if your othertaking someone on a scooter you beep twice and one beep pre overtake

Loving the unbiased education though man! Very educational for others who have never been!. Will be heading over again later this year can't wait!
Absolutely agree.. but you can't learn it on your first trip..
@@MurrayWilkinson1 That's how I learnt the ways but yeah in hindsight your probably right 🤣🤣
@@dazzanzl me to 😂 1st trip but now I’m a veteran on it lol
I’ve been in Asia to long, I think driving here is the norm and when I go back to Scotland it’s odd to me when I’m on the road hahaha

I got a full head of hair still.. but it's gone a bit rusty.... I always had long hair since I shaved it off I haven't looked back
Loads road accidents involving tourists, many also that have to get evacuated home for hospital treatment or in a coffin.....and they are alsi regularly GoFundMe pages to get medical treatment paid for foreigners that have not understood how to drive like locals
Thanks Murray..I was thinking of hiring a bike..now I am going to hire a bycycle.
Ride down to the beach

Indonesian road rules are very fluid, signs are only a guide
Love me a mental scoot around
Word of advise, don't take your eyes off the road for one second. Expect the unexpected
Being able to drive/ride in Indonesia means you can handle any traffic in the world ;D
Scooters are quickest way to get around too. The surest way to die in Bali is to eat and drink too much and do fuck all.

Snakes Alive, gday Murray.
Hmmmm.. that’s an old phrase I haven’t heard for a while….
