Scored an amazing buy at Walmart. Phalaenopsis plants left over from Valentine’s Day - leaves and roots still green, and even a few leftover booms. Three cents each! You read that right. Virtually free. I scooped up ten, leaving some for some other lucky shoppers, and distributed some to friends as a note of cheer. Just found the Orchid Diva and glad for the advice, as I also live in S Florida and plan to mount in palms. Thank you.
JOYCE LAUBACH wow!! Fantastic find!! Those are definitely mounting phals they will love it 😍 welcome to my channel and if you have any questions I’m happy to help 😊
Hi Blanca! After following your recommendations on how to mount orchids on trees, my orchids are thriving in their new homes. They are abundantly producing blooms and super healthy! It is amazing how your suggestions saved my orchids which would have probably died if I would have giving them the incorrect care. Thank you for the accurate help and guidance!
Ann D Wandner great! You’re going to love having them attached! We need to take advantage that our climate is perfect to have orchids in their natural environment 🤗
Love, Love, Love your videos. Thank you for such a great tutorials on how to attach the orchids on the trees. Your explanations are easy to follow and very thorough.
HI love what you have done looks beautiful. I also live in South Florida. Just wanted to know if the orchids need to be in the shaded part at all time in the back yard on the palm trees?
Hello , I am from Germany and I love your videos, unfortunately my English is not that good, but I understand more and more often I look. Unfortunately, there are not many RUclipsrs in Germany that make videos about orchids. That's why I watch a lot of English videos from all over the world meanwhile. I also subscribed to instagramm Your orchids are enviable. Greetings Jana
hope_1972 Hallo Jana!
Thanks so much, I love all your ideas for putting Orchids in trees. I too live in Florida, Palm Beach County. I did a few years ago put my very first Orchid in a tree in my front yard. It has bloomed every year since. Of course no big Hurricane to disrupt it as yet. I got a new Orchid this past February 2018 and still have it inside it just started to drop it’s flowers but I had to leave for six weeks to travel to Michigan and I left them with my daughter in Wellington, Fla. So i hope they survive until I return after the 4th of July. So Thanks for the idea of using knee highs, I will be using your idea. Sincerely Karen
They will look beautiful. I'm looking forward to the update already. I shou.d have moved further south. It gets too cold here in northern, central Florida.
Thank you so much I love watching your video and I learned and inspired that I’m beginning to purchase couple of orchids. I will follow all the steps on how to take care different types of orchids that I learned from you. Wish me luck !
Beautiful....makes me wanna come live in s fl.... Chicago here...beginner .....trying to save 2 phals from Lowes... 5 bucks.....lol But I ordered 5&5 online ....waiting on last 5.... Addicted.... Amazing how they look on palm trees.......
Monica Kummerer thank you so much for watching!! I loooove Chicago!! I was there in November for the first time. Love your city! Yes!! very addicting. Good luck with those phals. Happy Growing!! I am posting an unboxing soon the company I order from is amazing!
Hi Blanquita. Now that is what I call, "The perfect stocking stuffers." Lol. It is a great video and full of details, plus you make it look too tempting to try it. Unfortunately in central Florida we can get a few nights and some frost. Thanks for the shout out. I am glad to see the sprayer pump is working good for you. Wow.... That last photo, April 2016, should be on the cover of Southern Living magazine. (Best sellers issue.)
Blanca Acosta thank you so much! And yes! You saved my fingers lol!! it’s too bad it gets that cold in central Florida I know that you would enjoy this so much. I have a follower on Instagram that is going to try to plant some on her palms and when it gets that cold cover them with plankets.. I image she will just do one palm. That may be too much of a hassle though. I asked her to tell me if it works and if she does I’ll let you know :))
Joe Perez Hi Joe. Thank you for the comment. I just googled the laelia anceps, and I was surprised to know that they can also tolerate our incredible hot summer's. Joe, you are not helping here. My list just grew a little bit longer. Lol. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks for the great video! It helped me find a nice home for my phalaenopsis on the mango tree. This is the most natural environment for my little flower. Pantyhose is an awesome way to do it!😊
I am about to attempt to attach an orchid to a mountain laurel tree next to my deck in Houston Texas. I think our climate - heat and humidity - are similar to Miami so after viewing your video I am going to give it a try. One of my orchids has a spike that has a two lovely leaves growing out of it and a root that looks like it is searching for a home. That spike is about a foot long. I don't see anything like that on your video. Suggestions?
I love, love , love your video, i am from Ontario, Canada, lots of snow here ... i watch your video ans dream of moving to Florida .. I want to try and attach my mini Phalaenopsis orchid with a nylon, (she dont have much of her roots left) to a big plant that i have in my living room. Would you have to spay water on it nylon and sphagnum every week ?? maybe i could save her that way ... Thank you ..
Thank you sooo much! Yes, keep her roots hydrated and spray her once a week. That’s perfect. I’ve seen orchids mounted on indoor trees and they thrive. Good luck to you!!!
Hi! I live is south Florida too! I attached my orchid to one of my trees it was doing fine, but now I am noticing that the leaves are very soft, yellow, and I can fold them. I’ve read that it’s a sign of stress. But its giving me flowers at the moment and the roots are really stuck to the tree.... do you have any advice on how I can help the leaves get hard and green?
Great videos Blanca , my questions is about the little orchids you get from publix or other stores, their miniature, could I attach those to a palm tree ? Thank you .
Thanks for the video. I love your garden. Just beautiful!!!. My question is: can they be mounted on trees that are not live anymore, would they still grow? TIA
Foutsih Rafoula hi! Yes they would sill grow. it’s like attaching on bark or wood mounts. I went on a cruise ship last summer and they had phals attached on trees they had inside the ship. 😀🌸
Just wanted to say hello, neighbor! Lol. I was led to your video after doing a search on "how to attach orchids to trees", and, when I heard you talking, I thought "She sounds like a Miami (Cuban) gal!" (You only have a SLIGHT accent when you speak, but I recognized it as being from Miami bcI always listen to how ppl spreak and can usually guess where they are from:) Then you said you were in south Florida. I live in Kendall and Ive never had any knowledge about how to care for orchids, so thank u for your videos!! Have a great day!!:)
Kimberly Schwartz hello there! Yes, I am a Cuban gal from Miami 😊 Welcome to the orchid world! I hope my videos will help you. We are lucky to be able to grow these beauties in our climate and have them bloom for us year after year. Enjoy them and good luck attaching them. Try not to attach them where the direct sun will hit them now that summer is almost here. Enjoy! And happy Growing 🌸😊
Thank you for your video! Would be ok if I put them on the tree while is blossoming? Also would it interfere if I transfer them on cooler months?...just before winter. I know orchids like warmer temperatures. I can’t wait to see them blooming on the tree! ☺️
Hola, thanks for the video, Its ok to attach an Urchin outside? I have a pha in my avocado tree its growing a new root wich Im very happy, Im in Miami. Thanks again. Like the idea with the pantyhose 😊 oh and I attach it without moss, just a cotton thread, finger cross.
Hi there 😊 I am new to keeping orchids. Thank you for this video. I thought I heard that orchids actually hang in the other direction on a tree? That way the water is always dropping out of the leaves. Is this actually bad info? Tank you so much for sharing!! 💗 Your yes are gorgeous!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Blancquita! I was wondering because I saw you put a wad of moss on top of mosque that was already bald around your phalaenopsis do you ever clean out all the routes especially from their original plugs? Because the roots would be way more aired out and happy and maybe the leaves would stay nice and green and not turn yellow and spotted. 👉👵👈
It's a great tutorial! I loved it; I have a question.... I live in Central Mexico and it is usually hot and dry. In spring and summer it is really very sunny. Do you think my phalaenopsis would still thrive in palm trees?
Susana Vanegas hi!! I would definitely try. Try to attach them in the shadiest side of the palm and water daily especially in those hot months. It gets really hot here in S. Fl. and mine do great outdoors. Good luck and happy growing 🌸😊
Awesome! You are in Florida right? It's my dream to grow orchids on trees. Too bad the snow stops me! Thanks for the vid and I'm glad I found your channel! So interesting!
Reyna Lantigua Hi, when phals are mounted on trees they dry up faster than when they are in pots, crown and roots have better ventilation. It’s where they like to be. In all the years I’ve been attaching my orchids rotting is very minimal. 😊 My climate in south Florida is also very hot and humid so that helps them not to dry out or stay soaked all day.
If it’s been raining a lot, and you have them attached to the tree with sphagnum moss then it could be holding too much water. I would remove it from the medium it’s in
Sarah Kohler that is wonderful that the roots have securely attached ! Give it some time. They will bloom soon for you. It takes about a year depending when her last blooms were. Happy Growing 😀🌸

Blanca Acosta u can try laelias of you’re worried about frost , especially laelia anceps since it can go 10F freezing with little to no problem

Great video! I’m wondering if you water them once a week, as you would if growing orchids indoors.
Very very nice i like it so much.
Great video, would have loved if you had spoken a bit about position in relation to: sun/shade/light direct/indirect etc.
A new video going up in a few minu
Very helpful. Is there a way to mount a Phalaenopsis so that it can be on a tree when not in bloom but brought back inside when hit starts to bloom?
Great video and beautiful orchids. I'm in Florida, so I'll buy some....

Hi I thought orchids leaves should not be wet I’m wondering how they survive in the rain. Thanks I admire your video
Doesn't Phelenopsis get any pblm for mounting it out on tree? Like crown rot? I thought only dendrobiums were fit to be on tree
Hi Blanca,
I live in Ft lauderdale, what about mounting on oak trees?
Perfect !

Al fin se ve cómo corta la media!
Do you attach them in a shady spot of the tree? Can't wait to try this! I'm moving to San Diego not far from a Orchid farm!
Thanks for the video. I love your garden. Just beautiful!!!. My question is: can they be mounted on trees that are not live anymore, would they still grow? TIA

Has anyone had luck with these on trees in central Florida?
Can you attach them facing downwards please reason so the middle does not rot
Thanks for the videos 💕
Great video!!
I enjoyed this video best of all!
I've attached some phals to my tree but the leaves have all gone droopy - I've been misting them every 2 days and they are not in direct sun?
Hello! Very nice plants, collection you have). I think would be better to tie the plant upside down on the tree?) Thanks for the video).
Wow! What a genius hack using pantyhose's!
Brilliant!
Is there a species that’s native to south Florida and can take direct sun? Thanks!
But what do you do when we have cold fronts, does that kill them? Also, how do you prevent crown rot, because won’t that happen to it when it rains?
Hi Blanca it’s me again should I use Nutricote 18-6-8 slow time release for my Orquids or Osmocote Plus .. thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Blanca I did not get a reply on this . Also which liquid fertilizer do you use for the orquids🙏🏻
Hi I use 20/20/20 to fertilize 😊
Hola, thanks for the video, Its ok to attach an Urchin outside? I have a pha in my avocado tree its growing a new root wich Im very happy, Im in Miami. Thanks again. Like the idea with the pantyhose 😊 oh and I attach it without moss, just a cotton thread, finger cross.

But what happens when it rains if the Orquids get water on the crown and between the leaves wouldn’t they get rotted? @orchiddiva

What do you use to fertilize your orchids?
I attached my orchids to my palms 4 months ago and their roots are growing and very secure but they haven't bloomed ☹️
Sarah Kohler that is wonderful that the roots have securely attached ! Give it some time. They will bloom soon for you. It takes about a year depending when her last blooms were. Happy Growing 😀🌸
Maybe they need orchid fertilizer when they’re watered?
How do orchid do on trees that lose their leaves in the winter?
sandra hodges hi!! The orchids do great on my trees. Dendrobiums are the once that tend to lose their leaves and they do great attached. 🌸😊
@@blancasorchidgarden shes asking how the orchids would do on trees that lose their leaves during winter/fall. :) I had the same question
Sphagnum not spagnum
