I love when science and mythic stories come together! It gives me goosebumps and I wonder about all the mythical stories and wonder about possibility of all of them being true.
In my opinion there had been a well developed civilization in 7000 BC era in that region. There are lot of ancient structures, irrigation systems in Sri Lanka, which is difficulty to build only by using the human manpower, which means the technology was much advance than today.
Your journey to Dhanushkodi was great. I went there in February 2017. (Calcutta -- Chennai -- Rameswaram -- Dhanushkodi -- Kanyakumari -- Calcutta). At that time there was no such viewpoint, as you have seen. Only Jeep type vehicles could go there. The road was also not good. We had to go through road on sand, Every here and there was sea water throughout the road. I wish I could send you one or two pictures, of that place at that time, I had taken.
I wish u should have walked thru the beach sand till the narrowest end , last point of sea and shown ruins of church, rail track laid during British period, and sea shells .. That would have been awesome. U missed that..But anyways that drone view was super.
