So yes interesting tidbit, Carl is voiced by Lance Hendrikson who also voiced Admiral Hackett in ME and he was the guy who played the android in Aliens ( rather ironic, lol ). He also had his own tv show back in the 80's or 90's called Millenium and appeared in the Terminator movie. It's interesting how much more human Markus seems compared to Connor or Kara. ( at least so far ).

So you might already know by this point - Leo could very well be telling the truth about Carl. It's described in one of the magazines that Carl had a rocky phase at the height of his career ( Probably around the time Leo was a child ) and was embroiled in scandals and a drug addiction. Carl *was*, much like Todd, a drug addict and may have certainly also prioritized his fame and career more than his family for all the wealth he acquired, and eventually wisened up in his later years. His actions probably influenced Leo's trajectory a great deal, and once you know about Carl's past, you can also recognize the subtle signs of patience, understanding of why the outbursts are happening, and small downcast expressions of guilt/resignment because he went through the same thing itself. This is something that should also be pointed out regarding Todd's behavior, which kind of crosses the red line when it comes to Alice, but should be taken into account in the larger picture - Todd is not just on extremely heavy drugs and taking antidepressants, but people who never took antidepressants don't know that taking them together with narcotics is almost 100% guaranteed to make your brain go psychotic and insane, and in fact the antidepressant's label in the game warns as much I believe. You can take the most normative person on the planet, give them an antidepressant and something like cocaine together, and they'll be having fits of rage and madness and unnaturally paranoid behavior.
So, Kim... Chloe or Garrus? 😄 FYI, Connor's actor (Bryan Dechart) does gaming streams with his wife (they met during the production of Detroit: Become Human). They did a playthrough of D:BH, where they provide a behind the scenes commentary. Also, Chloe will become more reactive as you progress, so you might want to return to the main menu occasionally. One of the extras (also available on RUclips), called "Kara", was the tech demo for the game. It's worth watching.
I just recently finished my first play-through of Detroit, and now I've been watching others play through the game and seeing the different choices and reactions. It's amazing how this game affects people. Truly a work of art. In a way, I think games are a more powerful storytelling medium than movies due to their interactivity and drawing people in. _P.S. Nice find with the birds in Carl's house. I missed those when I was playing_ 😎👍

Regarding your question at the end - I always felt sorry for the deviant android but he did stab the guy 28 times. So, who's to say he won't escalate and kill many other people while being on the run? So I would turn him in. Also, he is a living specimen with the malfunction and maybe checking him out would help to figure out what went wrong with his programming. Loved how quickly you fell for Carl. The game is really good at characterization. As for Markus - I have to admit I already had a crush on the actor in Greys Anatomy, so that continued here. 😉 Oh and FYI - the actor Bryan Dechart who plays Connor has his own YT and Twitch channels.
