Great idea for this series, keep these coming! My requests: Please cover Root, Scythe, Catan, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Ark Nova, Gloomhaven, terraforming mars, Castles of Burgundy
A little constructive criticism for these videos, I think the game pictures could be shown for longer since I find those more interesting than seeing people talk (no offense to Joey and Milla)
Some more pictures would be nice but seeing their expressions and gestures, helps w communication. Perhaps picture and picture?? Either way, good idea for a video series.
I totally agree!!! This has been my problem with DT videos forever. If they don't show the actual game much then it's just a podcast on video. Love DT but please show more pictures of the games for a longer time. 😊
Thank you for the thoughts! I agree, in the next videos we may use more pictures and even some B-roll video. The new series is a work in progress but we are excited about it! -- Joey
I like the short B-roll and the clean, consistent look of just the game’s name at the bottom. Everyone’s preferences are different though. Dice Tower has genuine people and this format is fine for communicating what it needs to communicate.
Helllllll yesssssss, I'm so excited for this series I hope it does well If every game on BGG and Dice tower top 100 could be linked to a pick 6 episode Yes please
So excited for this series. Booktube has a format that you’ll often see “If you like ….. try ….” and I’ve always wished board game RUclips would use it. Now here it is! Before I got into the hobby, Scythe and Gloomhaven were lifestyle games that I loved. I suggest either of those.
How fun! I have been meaning to check out Gizmos. Totally agree with Viticulture, Everdell & Viticulture! My Wingspan fan recommendation is Empires if the North or Meadow =)
One game I recently discovered that gave me a Wingspan feel but is more interactive is NIGHT PARADE OF THE 100 YOKAI. It's a fun game that uses a shared board where you perform the actions you get from your three tableaus. The manga art style might not be for everyone, but then neither is the realistic bird art. ;-)
Notorious Dog Walkers is an FBI list. It's on the same notice board as the FBI Most Wanted and the FBI Persons of Interest lists. Yes, it is attached loosely to the bottom left of the board, and yes, it is partially covered by a homemade leaflet advertise a child's charity bake sale, but it is on there.
Love watching the Dice Tower team! Joey and Camilla always an enjoyable and funny. Thanks for the suggestions as well. My wife and I just started playing Wingspan at Christmas and we love it! (We just played our 18th game of it last night.) Thank you so much for all the great content you continue to put out. God Bless.
LOVE the idea for this, and JoeMilla is always a fun combo. Sugar and Spice! What I would like to see in future installments is at least two alternatives which "solve" the problem many people have with the game in the title. For example, the main issue with Wingspan - for many, including me - is the luck factor. I like so much of what Wingspan is doing, but gawd I hate being halfway through a game knowing there is no way I will ever win. So what would be helpful for me - and I assume there are others like me - are a couple options for games that feel a lot like Wingspan but with less luck. (Maybe some of your options do fulfill this desire, but I'm dumb and need it spelled out: "There's no top-decking here. Everything is laid out before you so there's very little luck of the draw.") Maybe have three categories and you each pick a game for each category?? Like maybe for Wingspan: "If You Like the Art", "If You Want Less Luck" and "If You Want A Faster Game". Some of these clearly fall into one of these categories - Gizmos has tons of luck but it's a snappier game so the luck isn't as annoying - but if I don't know the game, I need it explained VERY SLOWLY as to why it's a good alternative. Me not smrt!
Great idea for a series to help players find their next favourite game! One game that came to mind for me that I think would fit into this category is Fantastic Factories, which looks gorgeous, has great components and gives you that really satisfying feeling when all your cards work together really well.
Raising Robots was definitely the first one that came to my mind! They both share a fairly unique mechanism that I think is pretty cool with building your tableau then activating it in order a card at a time. There are a few games that do something similar but are a bit heavier of games. The “lightest” yet most similar I can think of besides RR might be Apiary. When you recall your workers you can then use them to activate tiles. Again, that might be a little too heavy. Dwellings of Eldervale and its soon-to-be sister Andromeda’s Edge both do the same (AE is closer to Wingspan’s mechanic than DoE) but those are definitely heavier games that I wouldn’t recommend to a new gamer. While the mechanics are different, I might suggest Summer Camp for a Wingspan lover. That one is a super simple and surprisingly thematic deck builder that offers a lot of variety! Even though the cards are hidden inside a deck, you can build quite the “engine” within your deck by getting cards that play off of or with each other. I always find it very fulfilling when I draw that hand of cards with all of the special cards I previously bought, allowing for some awesome combos!
I like this Series Joey. And like seeing others in it. Everyone had good picks. For me the one that I would suggest is actually adjacent but similar is forest shuffle. Same weight and thinky but transportable.
Me too! I thought that would be an obvious match. I was also expecting Terraforming Mars to get mentioned from the unique cards angle and also for the that fact some scoring uses tags in TM (and nests in Wingspan are basically tags) - and I guess the symbology/iconography thing as well (as mentioned for Raising Robots). Admittedly I love TM, Wingspan and Earth so they're all on my mind currently (I like and own Viticulture and Flamecraft too - and Everdell, just not Farshore)
Love seeing Viticulture get a mention and I've personally been considering downsizing my Everdell to Farscape. But I must ask... How in the heck did Earth not get a mention? Some even call it a Wingspan killer. I know I do.
Fun series idea. Worth the ideas and suggestions, hopefully people will be nice not blasting your choices and raging at ones you didn’t mention. Keep voicing at the beginning “there are many options, you probably have great ones too, ours aren’t just about mechanisms but various things…”. Also, keep the extra credit easter egg banter at the end please, you two have crazy funny chemistry worth the b roll footage. Thanks y’all!
I know you where looking for cutesy games, but the one game that I feel influenced Wingspan the most is 51st State. With all these cutesy games coming out people may be ready for something more gritty, more apocalyptic. In 51st State you have 3 rows of cards that you can play to, but where as in Wing you activate the row, in 51st you activate cards. If 51st added a mechanism where you activate all cards in a row then you’d have Apocaspan.
When I think about a game similar to Wingspan, I think immediatly about « Earth », an nature-themed game with similar (card trigger) mechanic and objective.
Great idea for a new series; very helpful to find new games for myself or others. Joey and Camilla are always great! For sure! Or Far shore! Cheers, ☕️
I am curious to see what 6 games can you suggest for next ones: Castles of Burgundy, Barrage, Res Arcana, Cryptid, Galaxy Tracker, Not Alone and Suburbia.
So how many of us looked up the meaning of "notorious"? It appears it means "someone who is known for doing something, usually bad"... Great vid you guys!..❤❤
Birds of a Feather is another bird-themed game card game with different bird species & environment. It’s lighter, but can be an appetizer for the main game.
Just from an engine building perspective, there are tons of better games: Race for the Galaxy Terraforming Mars Seasons Deus (the game which Wingspan lifted its central mechanism) Earth (even it managed to be better) Terra Mystica/Gaia Project/Age of Innovation/Clans of Caledonia The list goes on
A little bit of technical feedback for this series after two videos - am I the only one who finds the intro really loud compared to most Dice Tower intros? I have to turn volume down for the intro, then turn it back up again for the segment.
Absolutely brilliant idea for a series of videos. I’m not a Wingspan fan but I love the videos concept and I can’t wait to see what games they cover in the future. Joey and Camilla are the perfect team to present these videos too. I enjoyed this very much.
Those seem like very different mechanics. Wingspan is all about increasing abilities that build up and continue to trigger. Viticulture abilities start over (to some extent) with each new season. The structures remain. Also, there's a little bit of crowding out / blocking in Viticulture, compared to the freedom of choice in Wingspan.
Great idea for this series, keep these coming! My requests:

Both of you always have great comedy chemistry haha! Love your duo videos, and look forward to more from this series!
A little constructive criticism for these videos, I think the game pictures could be shown for longer since I find those more interesting than seeing people talk (no offense to Joey and Milla)
I think the "OBS" view or "Livestream" view with the people down in a bottom corner might be effective here.
Some more pictures would be nice but seeing their expressions and gestures, helps w communication. Perhaps picture and picture?? Either way, good idea for a video series.

I thought of Earth, Forest Shuffle, Dog Park, Meadow, Everdell, Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition, all tableau builders with nature themes involved.
Great idea for a series to help players find their next favourite game! One game that came to mind for me that I think would fit into this category is Fantastic Factories, which looks gorgeous, has great components and gives you that really satisfying feeling when all your cards work together really well.
I LOVE the idea behind this series!! I'm someone who considers themselves an avid gamer but I still think videos like this would be super helpful.

the outtakes at the end were fantastic, shows just how great the chemistry is with joey and camilla. fun video 🙂

Played Flamecraft for the first time last night. Totally agree with the comp.
I like this Pick Six series concept. Looking forward to more.

Also really like the bloopers at the end and whish to see more of this inother video series!
I think Camilla means the most INFAMOUS dog walker because infamous means “more than famous”. :)

Great idea for a new series; very helpful to find new games for myself or others. Joey and Camilla are always great!

"There she goes. The city's most notorious churro vendor."
I love Flamecraft, and Viticulture with Tuscany is my #2 favorite game of all time.
I LOVE this idea for a new series guys. Looking forward to it.
Another great video with Joey, the hardest working man in the Dice Tower.
I am curious to see what 6 games can you suggest for next ones: Castles of Burgundy, Barrage, Res Arcana, Cryptid, Galaxy Tracker, Not Alone and Suburbia.

That's great idea! Thank you)
Outtakes were excellent
For a TtR video you must include Trekking the National Park/World.
New favorite series.
The Dallas Cowboys know how a Pick Six works. 🤣
Birds of a Feather is another bird-themed game card game with different bird species & environment. It’s lighter, but can be an appetizer for the main game.
Love the outtakes!
Notorious dog walker vs reputable dog walker …. Seems like a good spy vs spy variation
Just from an engine building perspective, there are tons of better games:
Race for the Galaxy
Terraforming Mars
Seasons
Deus (the game which Wingspan lifted its central mechanism)
Earth (even it managed to be better)
Terra Mystica/Gaia Project/Age of Innovation/Clans of Caledonia
The list goes on
The preface is for beginner gamers or not hobbyists. @0:36
I came just to see if you recommend Raising Robots. That game is FIRE🔥🔥
Notable is the word
A little bit of technical feedback for this series after two videos - am I the only one who finds the intro really loud compared to most Dice Tower intros? I have to turn volume down for the intro, then turn it back up again for the segment.
How about “renowned” dog walker?😉
That was my choice.
Keep this series, please.
My next laptop will for sure be a framework
Great video! You've got a subscribe!
I like the outtakes
Notorius D.O.G. ?
as in notorious B.I.G.? 🎼🎧🤣
notorius J.O.E..... y 😂
@@terry3733H yep 😂
Hello
Thanks for the Robot love!
Intro music a bit louder than the speaking parts
Cool series idea, tho i suspect all games in the series will be like this one (wingspan) aka very much not my type (but maybe ill be found wrong!)
Snake draft!
I'm surprised Meadow didn't make someone's list.
Someone = JOEY.
Absolutely brilliant idea for a series of videos. I’m not a Wingspan fan but I love the videos concept and I can’t wait to see what games they cover in the future. Joey and Camilla are the perfect team to present these videos too. I enjoyed this very much.
The most distinguished dog walker?
❤❤❤💖💖💖💖amazing ✅✌🏼
How in the world did Earth not make the list? I am shocked.
Notorious D.O.G. Walker
A horizon broadening video…. Well done guys.
Deus.
Yep. I used Wingspan as a reference last time I taught Deus.
@@gianfranco4789 Hargrave is on record saying somewhere that Wingspan was inspired by Deus and RftG.
If wingspan is 10 out of 10, flamcraft to me is just a 4. A really bad boring but pretty game.
Viticulture really?
Those seem like very different mechanics. Wingspan is all about increasing abilities that build up and continue to trigger. Viticulture abilities start over (to some extent) with each new season. The structures remain. Also, there's a little bit of crowding out / blocking in Viticulture, compared to the freedom of choice in Wingspan.
Seasons = rounds. Tactile pieces. “Nature” theme. Both are a similar level of complexity.
I agree
A fun video 😊🎉. 🤗🐶park, 🔥🐉. 🤔💭raising robots, gizmos...sci-fi/robots 😐(except Transmission 🤖= Iron Giant) 👛😅wishlist: viticulture, farshore
