1. Shapeshift: If you can’t get the word out, change physiology to get different outcomes.
2. Select the right expectations: expect more from yourself than you expect more from other people
3. Science of availability: read more, learn new skills, expose yourself to new things so you can have more words available.
4. Speaks in three: pick 3 things to talk about that are relevant to your opinion. Easy to remember for you and listener
5. Structure:
1. Chronological - talk about past; what happened, present; what is happening, future; what can happen next.
2. Persuasive - What’s the issue?, What’s the solution? How can it benefit people?
3. Motivation - What’s the issue? Why’s it important? What’s next?
That's a fantastic summary, thank you for helping my viewers. I hope that you found the content helpful!

@@DrGraceLee •We sure did✔️
Thank you so much
Thanks ❤
One thing that has always helped me is to read a lot so my mind’s eye can visualize words as I speak...also speaking how you should write (like grammatically correct, etc) without ums or “liiike”makes you sound smarter
wow amazing visualizing the words as you speak is actually knowing where your conversation
is heading or where you want to take the conversation
i like your choice of words the " mind's eye"..
what kind of books to read?
@@ronamps3507 reading also has the extra benefit of learning different ways to say the same thing, its something else
Wow..does this work? Could you share your experience?
Anyone else notice she did this video on this topic is on the fly? And she’s being the example of her advice every one bit just 3s but her confidence and swiftness of eloquence is very well done! Yea she does trip up several times but that shows me hat I’m talking about... all the more! Bravo dr!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! It's only fair for me to practice what I preach! I make it my mission to share with you what I know has worked. So since this video is about impromptu speaking, then I must do it on the fly! 💯
I am researching for how to effectively speak to others and I am blown away by how much I have learned from just watching two of your videos. I plan to incorporate all of these tips you mentioned when communicating with others. One that really stood out to me is 'speak in 3s.' I am a classic overthinker and this is obvious when speaking at work or in my personal life. All of my thoughts try to force there way out of my mind at once. My real points tend to get lost in that mess. Thank you for your content and I plan to be watching you much more. :)
That's wonderful to hear, Caitlin! Thank you for stumbling upon my channel and leaving your feedback, I appreciate it! I hope to see you again soon!
sae!
Thank you Dr. Lee. I just started a new job that requires a lot of communication and your teachings are a gift.🙏🏾
I'm glad to know you are learning from my videos. Welcome to my channel, Betty!
I am so glad I found you! These are the skills I desperately need 🙏
I feel defeated every time I speak to an audience, my brain knows what I want to say, the right words don’t come out.
Great Video Dr Lee. This are my 3 key take aways and learnings.
1. Open to learn and consume to be a better speaker
2. Take in 3(focus on top 3 topics)
3. Structure by a. Chronology b. Problem solution benefit C. What why & what's next
I appreciate you sharing your takeaways, Yogesh! Welcome to my channel.
Oh my! perfect timing that I came across this video. The concept about "speaking in Threes" helps in how I can handle job interviews. Thanks, doc! Just in time to prep.for my upcoming interview :)
*Dr Lee, thank you!* I have only just stumbled across your channel but already learned to much and am applying what I have learned so far. Looking forward to learning more about effective communication from you!
That's great to know, Elliott. Welcome to my channel!
How smart you are! Sounds like that you have a structured system in your mind, so that every time when the impromptu situation happens, you can pick that structure right away! I do believe that if we can train ourselves to build up at least three structures in our mind and practice them, we will be able to use them in any flexible way. Thank you so much!
I love this especially the Science of availability. Thank you Dr.Grace Lee
Glad you enjoyed it! And I'm grateful to have you here
Thanks a million, you are such incredible teacher I've ever seen. You save my life from talking no sense. God bless you Dr.
Wow, I'm so glad to hear that my videos have been helpful for you. Thank you for your thoughtful comment
Hi, Dr Grace- on this teaching, I found the "issue, solution, benefit to the people" the most usable.
I want you to know, however, that my most favorite teaching of yours was the persuasion is not manipulation video. I took notes on an index card and posted it on my refrigerator. raise attention render intention reach the emotion regard the rationalization and ready reaction. It's helping people to make their own win-win situation. Persuasion is not manipulation. I appreciate knowing this so much. Thank you!
I was listening attentively to the discussion by Grace Lee, Ph.D. on 'Thinking fast and Talk Smart I loved her points. Dr. Lee's sayings were substantial on Structure ideas.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I'm grateful to hear that you enjoyed my content! You're welcome back to my channel anytime.
Just in time! Thank you. Can you do a video dealing with colleagues who micromanages and loves limelight by trashing other people?
Professional Jealousy is inevitable. If a person feels such against another employee whom she feels better in terms what the other has which the person doesnt have, then that personal insecurity will just heap up. The person is just setting herself up for destruction.
speak in three is great technique I have found here and I found that it can put into action when there is difficulties to find right word.
This information has been very insightful and much needed where were you. I thank God I discovered your videos. Thanks again Dr. Lee
Thank you Dr.Lee! Your smile is so genuine and comforting! It makes me feel assured I can be a better speaker.
I agree!!
Wonderful to have you here, thank you for your comment!

Your driver is so blessed to hear you first hand
I do really admire you, Dr Grace Lee. I've learnt a lot from you.
I'm so glad to have you here! Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
Dr. Grace, I love how you foreshadowed "Persuasive" structure in your appeal for subscriptions.
I was about to keep swiping past this little car video but it turns out that the content here is awesome. It’s like going to a taco truck and discovering the best Mexican food you’ve ever eaten. Bravo. That was impromptu 😉.
"Structure creates freedom"--very well said!
Motivation- I often stopped at why important, did not go to what's next. Thanks
Dr. Grace Lee is so good she made this video whilst driving
I thought I'm not capable of thinking fast. Thanks for this
The structures and remembering to speak in 3s will be fantastic tools for me. 😁
Speak in 3s … what a brilliant concept … thank you so much … your videos are really helping me to make that executive presence and the path to being a senior director or an Vice President … being voracious learner is a good reminder to continue getting better

You are so great my dear sister... Thanks alot
Thank you so much Dr Grace ...you are our life coach here to teach us valuable lessons!!!
You are so welcome! I'm so grateful to have you here!
Thanks for the tips on how to answer Impromptu speaking :)
I’m going to implement the 3rd technique I believe it helps me a lot.
So how did it go after you implemented the 3rd technique?
i like the most are the three(3) structure i.e 1. Chronological, 2. Persuasive and 3. Motivation.
Thank you for the informative video. I will start practicing these techniques. The techniques I want to focus on more are the "speak in threes" and "structure."
Dr.Grace very well articulated and very realistic.
Thank you for sharing. 😊
Lots love ❤❤❤❤
Being analytical thinker and business analysis practitioner i will prefer to select the right expectations ✅️
I have a very hard time dealing with large groups when there’s opposition to my ideas or something I’ve said. I literally shut down and can’t find the best response mainly because I’m just not interested in arguing in front of an audience. Any tips on how an introvert can deal with opposition in a work setting?
I have exactly the same problem.
@@yuansutopia If you push yourself, it will get easier with time. say to yourself you can do it. if you feel nervous, just acknowledge it as an emotion, ie no big deal
good question! I have the same problem.
@@KevsGuide Also, find it very helpful to have debates with my family simply by conveying my ideas to them and i challenge them to find loopholes in my theories.
Helps keep me on my feet
I have the same issue. Is there an easy fix?
Glad I found you here! Thank you
I fully agree with what you said about the minutia, getting on their level, and thinking long term.
very substantial. Thank you, Dr. Grace Lee. I like the Structure part.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for these impactful simple clear confident giving techniques! Much appreciated!
Thanks, this this great, the three structures are very valuable. you nailed and simplified it, thanks for sharing!
Tip #3 and 5 will help my speaking engagements improve…. Thank you!
Thank you Dr Grace. I will implement all those 5 tips.
The structure and speaking in threes is helpful. I hope to use these!
Definitely I will implement the Threes. Also, the persuasive technique.
Thank you so much for sharing Dr.Lee I feel that my speaking skills even in my mother tongue is not that good, but after watching your video I somehow feel that my confidence is coming back. I am not happy few days ago because my bike was stolen deliberately by some bad guys in my city, and I try to explain how sad I am and I lost my money all that kind of stuff but I can’t find a conclusion of what’s my point or how’s my friend feel, because they just don’t know what to do after what I said.
They might say you can just buy a new one or don’t be upset etc.
I guess my “level” is not high enough so that my thoughts are always struck on the bike which actually isn’t that expensive after all. As Dr.Lee said I think I should focusing on learning new things gaining more experience so that I retain more vocabulary while speaking and communicating with people, that’s what I really should focusing right now.
3 bullet points is good to keep in mind thank you. And i need to practice structure. I like persuasive format. Thank you😊
This is so good. Thank you. I particularly liked what you said about selecting your expectations.
Thank you Dr. Grace..👍👍
I love it..Thank you Dr.Lee.You inspire me a lot already..
I like the technique, that speak in threes, this really help a lot.
What an amazing piece to help me prepare for my CELPIP exam!
Thank you doctor! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Am having this problem of not being able to contribute to a new topic on the spot but if am giving time to do my research I will have alot the say
I couldn’t agree more. Thank you very much.👍👍👍

Great and awesome teaching
this is really helpful. I hope and look forward to learning from you and watch your contents relating to communication.
Communicating through English is where I really struggle especiay during impromptus.
Yes. Thank you for the content.
You're welcome, Jane!
Thanks Dr. Lee, wonder if I understood the "Select the right expectation", I think what you are saying "trust yourself that you can do it and don't judge hard yourself too much, trust what you say will be good enough", I love the 3 and 3, the selection of 3 three top points you wish to deliver and the template of it, In my reports I do have a template and it is very effective, now I can think of conversation as a structure and most important point was do it in a way that others can understand and benefit from the message, Great job.
You are advising speak in three but in contrast you are speaking five techniques in this video :
But I strongly agreed with you for seeking in threes, as it will be helpful for the audience and listeners to remember or to retain the speech contents. (this is my experience)
Speaking in three is helpful when you are trying to improve in the beginning. But once you have a strong command speaking impromptu, then you will be more comfortable speaking about lists of 5, 7, or even 10!

It’s another thumbs up 😊
wow 👍🏻 make world available to you ❤
This is very helpful! Thank you! 👍👍👍
Glad to hear that!
thank you
i love you

Thanks but I haven't learned much from this you should give examples of shape-shifting for instance
Very good, Dr. Lee.
