Been training for about 6-7 years. With a 7 year gap in between those years.. happy to say I’m back at it and been consistent for 2 years. Now a purple belt still grinding away.
Way to get back to it.. I started in 2001ish but took like a 7 year hiatus when I joined in 2005 until about 2012... been going strong since... really didn't realize how much I needed the ol bjj in my life. Keep at it!
I've been training for almost a year, but I just got back after a long hiatus due to work. I stopped and debated whether I should come back after resigning due to sexual harassment towards me in the workplace. Came back and is now working for my 1st stripe, it really helps with my adhd and trauma.
Black belt here, we got the same story man .. got my black belt, and then left the gym, traveled and got my ass kicked and saw the huge holes in my game (legs attacks) and now just trying to improve. Love the channel brother!!!
Hey Tyler! I’ve been training about five months. Love your channel. I’m also visiting my wife’s family in St Cloud next month. Would love to come take class with you if you can share your gym’s name!
Hey mate. I’m not actually in St. Cloud anymore, but Start BJJ was the old gym. Bath salts Ben usually trains Monday and Wednesday at 6pm. If you go to the metro, I train at the cellar Monday Wednesday at 6:30-8:30. Open mats on weekends

Tyler, you've been put on notice. The next time, he's coming for you with four energy drinks in the tank. LOL! I'm sure that's going to be a real game changer! 😂
10 years with 3 year pause in between due to head trauma. Currently brown belt. I always hated leg locks and simply refused to tap to knee bars and footlocks - cost me a few ligaments. Nowadays I try to learn.
I have been doing jiu jitsu for 4 months and for the last two weeks I was out due to sprained ankle (sprained it playing soccer). I'm realy loving bjj and can't wait to get back to training 😄
I have been training for 6 years purple belt. Just had my meniscus repaired and knee cleaned up. I have been out 4 weeks 2 more and I'm back on the Mats!!!💥💥💥 Love your videos Tyler!
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it might not be as fast as you think. I tore my meniscus and couldn't train for months and was still in pain with a slight limp for something like a year. Best of luck though. Hope it heals faster for you.
i have been training bjj for 7years. After L3-L4 disceptomy i participated Purple belt master2 Ajp tournament n beat up 8:1...so frustrating. but will do again.
I thought this was just a bit of friendly ribbing when it started, and was hoping for some good ole fashioned "live and let live" from my fellow martial artists. I've always gotten Tyler's sense of humor, so maybe that's why I was expecting no hard feelings. Tyler, I guess, really pissed some people off at the Bath Salts Gym. To me, that's good PR. Would've loved to have trained at Ben's old gym. Too bad some people can't take a joke. Anyway, Cheers from Austin, everyone.
@@TylerSpangler Oh gotcha, good. I couldn't wait to laugh, but seemed a little serious to me, and trust me, I laugh at even remotely funny stuff. Glad it wasn't all serious. Take care, Tyler. Been watching for a year or more.
Pretty sure I saw Joe come in and take a few rounds well before Tyler showed up last weekend. High level strat or Tyler taking it easy so he can beat up a blue belt? :)
It might be difficult but can you make a video where Brock goes up against Jorge/George(not sure which one is the correct way of spelling his name). Great work on the video as always.
Started BJJ a few weeks ago! I've been to 6 practices! I'm able to do 2 at a time before my body feels like every joint and muscle is going to explode. I rest then go right back after watching videos on what I failed at each roll at practice!
Slow it downnnn. If you're that tired after two then you should probably try using a little less gas in each roll. You'll have more energy to think about what you're doing as well. Of course, easier said than done
@@mathewmorales3865 I Wrestled in highschool and the all gas no breaks style still lives in me. I'm going 100% because my partners are as well and I really want to focus.
Focus requires patience, patience requires some level of stillness. Either way you're gonna learn, but You'll learn more quickly if you muscle less, and you can also do more training sessions that way as well. But at the end of the day you're gonna do what you're gonna do, good luck on your journey none the less!
Love your videos man. I just started and me and my roommate watch your videos non stop. However, do you actually guillotine white belts? I know what that is but most white belts don't
1 year almost, didn't really care to keep track. Been doing mostly no gi for free at some crappy gym but just moved recently to a very expensive one close to my campus but I had to miss half of the month because I contracted molluscum and I gotta let it heal so I don't pass it to others... Watch out for gyms that don't clean the mats brothers.
😂 that ass smell comment… yeah been there, not a good situation. But, ive been doing jiu jitsu for almost 2yrs (blue belt), but I have a long road ahead, but I love it!! 💪
Been doing bjj since 2017 and I am eternal white belt because life, as in, can't afford it on ocassion, then I don't have time because work, then I have no means of transportation to get to the gym. I like luta more tho (my coach teaches both), I didn't have to wait 8 years to learn a heel hook or stand up, that was nice.
No, it’s really this you should learn as much as you can and if you can’t learn that at one place, you should go other places and then bring it back to your school or leave because you’re not getting it I’m saying for you versus them
At this point, I don't think that the gyms that just pretend legs don't exist either up to brown belt or forever shouldn't be able to advertise teaching the same things as the ones who show legs from day 1. These gyms use a broken system where students can get to brown belt developing a game under the assumption of no leg threat. Then, 8-10 years in, surprise! Legs exist! Time to unlearn everything you spent the past decade learning to adjust to actual BJJ!

Great video, Jefe Creonte! Beautiful array of subs. One month on the mats on Saturday.
The best part about this video
1) Your Tyler, I am Tyler
2) My beard and hair look IDENTICAL to yours right now lol

I've been training BJJ long enough to question why I do it and short enough to keep going aka about 6 months.
Just need some more injuries and then you can really ask that question!

Any tips on gaining weight/bulking for a small brotha
3 months. 17 years old out of LA. Train everyday 1-3 times. Also lift consistently. Going to compete in July/August.
