I’m a clarinettist. Due to the pandemic, I haven’t touched my instrument for a while. After finishing the anime, I decided to play the tune on my clarinet. Later that night, my father told me he got a message from the neighbours. I was a bit worried at first because I understand that I’m not very good and would sound bad. He said that the neighbours quite enjoyed my playing. They said it sounded so calm, but filled with emotions. So I decided to keep practicing every weekend since then.
I learned this on my tenor saxophone as I don't play Euphonium. I started playing this piece at band rehearsal today, and everyone fell dead silent and started listening. The power that this piece has is insane. And there are just certain things this piece expresses that you can't express with words alone. I may not have played it on a Euphonium, but I sure felt overwhelmed by the emotions I felt when I played this through my tenor saxophone. Edit: I was supposed to play this at a concert but coronavirus cancelled it :( I played it at an online recital and they loved it, definitely gonna play it at next years concert.

I started learning euphonium since junior h. until now, which have been for 7 years. At first I didn't like it very much because it was not so cool and most people don't even know or heard about euph. if could choose, I would like to play pretty cool instrument like trumpet XD The anime was released when I was a senior, I was touched by the story, and found that though euph is not a famous or cool instrument, what's important is that it is THE ONE what I play and what I love. Haha I have poor english. Besides, I am so happy for that more and more people know about euph or even fall in love with this kind of instrument because of this anime. Sound of euphonium is soft and warm and always touch our heart. HIBIKE!!!
rangiku matsumoto I am a tenor sax player but I do agree and disagree with you, respectfully of course! The euphonium is a very beautiful sounding instrument... when played by the right person and from my experience in band it does get a lot of melody parts along with the other instruments. Solos are a bit different while I do not hear many euphonium solos I do believe that they get a fair amount of solos! :)
rangiku matsumoto as someone who use to play in the bass section (contralto clarinet for me) I can agree with you, a lot of the time Euphoniums are stuck with bass parts, guess it all depends on the director's preference
It's honestly mostly depending on the one who composes or arranges the music you play, and the kind of music you play. Some arrangers and composers are *very* good in utilising everything a euph has to offer without just making them double the tenor sax, horns, trombones or tubas, while others... well, they do just that, which can lead to a lot of frustration.
It's kinda heartwarming that the title of this Euph's solo was the anime name itself - 「響け！ユーフォニアム」(Sound! Euphonium, as shown on the second season's finale EP/ second movie), and it shows from how warm the piece is. Hardships, passion, uncertainties.
Never heard a word about Euph. But thanks to this anime I found lots of gorgeous musicians playing bands and orchestras, Think I never fell touched by music like this before... Always loved the sound of Cello, but cannot afford one so tried other instruments (and tried the musical college for over a year) ... always in an amateur level... but this sound, makes me try the musical college again and maybe learn more about euph... even that I'm old enough to aspire to a high level...
This anime aired a couple years after I dropped out of music school. I've since moved on and don't really make music anymore. Every time I hear this it makes me want to risk it all again. I hear the hopes and dreams of what could have been.
I felt exactly the same think with an other instrument and an other anime, and after a while, I finally decided to "risk it all again" as you say, and it was litteraly one of the best choice in my life, so I dont want anyone to miss that kind of opportunity. Retake your instrument and pratcice to become the one who play so beautifully that people listening to you want to become musicians. Doing this, I'm sure you will never have any regrets and you will create beautyfull things...

This anime and piece means so much to me. I just love this show and everything about it, I was a piano student when it aired and everything that Kumiko and Reina -hell the entire orchestra; the struggles and their journey through the series just resonate with me so much. Kumiko is such a relatable and interesting MC. She's far from perfect, she isn't like other MCs that have some sort of 'special', unique quality or a sad background, or anything. She's just 'normal' and an actual person with genuine feelings, dreams and fears. That scene where she's running, screaming and crying about wanting to improve was fucking quality and so relatable for anyone who commits themselves to literally anything. She's honestly one of my favourite MCs and characters ever in anime with just how real she feels and how she interacts with the world around her. Yeah sure, it can fall under the 'Slice of Life' genre (and that's okay), but to me it will always have a special place in my heart. One of the characteristics I admire in Kumiko is that she is not a wishy-washy person and is always the first to call out any display of dishonesty that she sees. • For example, she personally called out her sister Mamiko who kept berating her for still playing Euphonium and said that she was just trying to live a lie even before the sister could admit it herself. And yup, it later turned out that she was right. • She also called out Yuuko for suggesting that Kaori play the trumpet solo on the basis of seniority despite the fact that Reina is a better player. • She was the loner clapper for Yuuko during the “rematch”. • Like Asuka said, Kumiko might act like a background character and does not do anything to stand out but she is very observant and keenly aware of her surroundings, even her own classmates’ character. • Because of her observant nature, I am not really surprised that she eventually becomes the band president and plus, she is a fantastic Euphonist. => One of the scene that I love is that when Yuuko and Kumiko were alone in an onsen and Yuuko broke the awkward silence by asking “do you honestly hate me?” and she truthfully answered: “Not really. More of a dislike.” 😂

Unfortunately I don't have the sheet music, I did arrange the soundtrack tracks so that it mimics a concert arrangement and then worked on it in my DAW so that it mimics concert hall accoustics. I suggested asking the original composer, because by all accounts he should have the original score in PDF but he probably doesn't understand english and he may have no permission to share it from various companies. If you know someone who speaks Japanese then go for it, otherwise transcribing is probably your best bet ;)

The Euphonium is the most beautiful sounding instrument in my opinion, it's a shame they don't get more solos and melodies in parts

Our experiences differ greatly. I usually never hear Euphs getting melodies or solos. They're usually just bass

So is it a matter of gaining permission from him to distribute it or do you not have sheet music to share? Your arrangement is really nice, and I'd love to perform it on euphonium even if it's not the original version.
Unfortunately I don't have the sheet music, I did arrange the soundtrack tracks so that it mimics a concert arrangement and then worked on it in my DAW so that it mimics concert hall accoustics.
I suggested asking the original composer, because by all accounts he should have the original score in PDF but he probably doesn't understand english and he may have no permission to share it from various companies. If you know someone who speaks Japanese then go for it, otherwise transcribing is probably your best bet ;)
