Hint: get a Japan rail pass and ride the heck out of these wonderful trains and explore Japan end to end. Note: the rail pass is only applies to JR national railway trains so if you want to ride trains on the private rail lines, you must pay separately for those.

Commuting trains have flat faces, and inter city trains have three dimensional faces. Seat arrangements are different also.

Japan has the world’s best commuter trains & passenger trains service. It would be very nice if the United States, Canada, Australia & the Philippines have the exact same commuter & passenger train service Japan has.

As a Filipino living in another country, I agree. But our urban planning back home is too shitty that we don't even have room for trains to run on anymore. There's also this dispute between two large companies on where a certain terminal for 3 train lines must be placed because of too much capitalism.

For a small little island, Japan has many variety of interesting passenger trains. In the US, we just have Amtrak. And just the other day, it fell off the tracks because it thinks it is a race car trying to negotiate a corner.

narrow gauge train are easier to accelerate and decelerate. so if there any emergency, the train will brake fast.
