- African Nationalist Thomas Joseph Mboya coordinated an "airlift" in 1959 of 81 Kenyan students to the USA to attend college. With the help of Dr. King, the African American Students Foundation and its sponsors, Harry Belafonte, Jackie Robinson, and Sidney Poitier, Mboya raised sufficient funds to cover the students' travel expenses. One of the students was a certain Barack Husein Obama snr., the late father of US President Barrack Obama. This rally was in Washington DC, 1959
I am currently mesmerized by old events from this man of substance. How he articulated his speech at his early age was on top notch.
It is sad that we did not share a generation with you Mr. Tom. I wish that every African/Kenyan view you as a role model to our continent/country. RIP forever
I am a kikuyu and l loved Mboya so much. At age 29 and he was doing great things.
sasa mambo na im a kikuyu imetoka wapi jameni
Tribalism is still a killer disease in Kenya.
@@Bossmaneger Ndiyo hata nashangaa... Like, no one gives a f*ck what your tribe is
@@Bossmanegerthey think being a Kikuyu is an achievement. Selfish people. They have killed Kenya as a country
The best president Kenya never had, JTM.
Isaac Aliyah do u not know that history is not written the way it is? Look at u.
Tom mboya was a CIA plant in the Jomo kenyatta carbinet!!!LOL What a FOX!!!
@@siasapolitiks5624 Both Kenyatta and Mboya were leaning to the West. Mboya's killing had nothing to do with CIA. Both of them had no issue with CIA. Mboya's killing was the result of local politics in which Kenyatta and his inner circle could not stand the idea of another person who might not serve the interests of Kenyatta and his inner circle rising to the Presidency. If Kenyatta killed Mboya because of his CIA links then he (Kenyatta) should have committed suicide before killing Mboya. Serious political players on the continent and beyond were either leaning to the East or the West. Non-alignment was just a load of nonsense. Both Mboya and Kenyatta were on the same axis of alignment as far as East/West thinking was concerned. Mboya died because of stupid and tribal politics in Kenya. Kwani who forced Kenyatta to have Mboya in his cabinet? He could have simply dropped if he was not comfortable with him. This idea of using state resources to assassinate other leaders and create orphans and widows must be condemned in the strongest possible manner and resolutely so.
@@thelion9645 Yes, it is written by the winner until after generations when new platforms emerge.
@@georgeodhiambo598 That guy is trying to mislead us. Thank You for putting him in his place.
I am Kenyan that means I belong to the 42 tribes. TJ, I salute you and miss the great meetings at kaloleni and Makongeni. The Kenyan man who knew no tribe or boundary addressed us and as children we climbed high on trees to listen to you. May God give you all the rest for you walked in this world and left a mark that will never be forgotten.
wow am always fascinated by the fact that Mr Mboya share a podium with Martin Luther King !
Not only that they we're great friends but, both we're unfortunately assassinated in 68 and 69...very sad indeed!
They were both to afrikan freedom fighters
Akiii
Same here then they eerily died one year apart in a similar way 😢
tom mboya a sure liberated mind of his time
These gentlemen met the same fate.continue Resting in peace
A struggle that can aptly be summarised in terms of struggle for political freedom
Mr. Mboya was a very progressive man; I remember reading about him. He had a lot of foresight regarding true pan-Africanism.
But this great nationalist was killed by the (fake )so called forefathers
Tom Mboya was a force, If he had lived to this age, there's no doubt he would have achieved many remarkable things. Look at him back in 1950's sharing a stage with one of the greatest leaders to ever live. Martin Luther King jnr and Tom Mboya were both assassinated in the late 60's .They were both 39 when they died.
This guy was ahead of his time Tom mboya Damn
As an afrikan american i respected him very much
Wow!! This is history right here....Africa Unite!!
True legend never lives long. You did wonders over short time you lived
Salute to you Mboya, the greatest man 🇰🇪 has ever seen before the arrival of Obama jnr.
truely getting leaders like Tom mboya is not easy and also the pain that luos have experienced in kenya is very lasting from how brutally their leaders have been murdered .the likes of TJ,OUKO,AGWINGS KODHEK,ODGHIAMBO MBAI,OJIJO OTEKO,AND OTHERS SURELY BEING A LUO IS A CALLING FROM GOD NOT ATRIBE
I wish you knew what you write it is very powerful. just watch here www.repentandpreparetheway.org and www.jesusisradio.info
Tom what a hero u were.May your soul rest in eternal peace.
WOW .. i wonder why this was left out of Kenyan History ....i feel robbed.. must teach my kids this
DJKAFII ....propagandists fabricated history to favor their own and suppressed the truth about others...one day the whole truth will come out...
Its worth history for real
Kenyan pre- indipendent history was written lopsided.
@@lewinmukui70Not only pre-independence but also post independence. Get yourself a copy of the book, "Tom Mboya: The Man Kenya Wanted to Forget" by David Goldsworthy. A very apt title bearing in mind that even after assassinating Mboya, Kenyatta and his henchmen were still very scared of the spirit of Mboya.
Yes please, more Tom Mboya clips
Ten years ago? Are u still alive?
We still remember you our great leader Mboya..Rip
In this video he was 29 years old!
😭😭😭😭😢I failed to understand human being why kill really
Mboya was a a pretty good orator for an African of that time must admit.
not just "for an African" but for a person from any continent
and not just "of that time" but equally of today.
We had a lot of good orators even then ..come on.
and now here we are with the likes of ruto and sudi
I have deep respect for Thomas Mboya the greatest Kenyan in my opinion.
Respect to Mboya
Why wasnt this mentioned in Kenyan History?
@ShutterDe DON
Who killed him?
@ShutterDe DON
By the way Kenyatta regime was funded by CIA. CIA don't like Socialists, Tom Mboya was a self proclaimed African socialist.
Relegated to the equivalent of a footnote. He should have a national holiday !
@Jan Merc you can't narrow it down to just one community just because you don't like them, and besides there are many kikuyus suffering as well
@@nationalist5422 He wasn't! He was as capitalistic in his political and economic philosophy as Kenyatta. What some people confuse with socialistic tendencies were his pronouncements regarding African Socialism in REACTION to " scientific" socialism that was raging across Africa in the sixties. In terms of economic philosophy Kenyatta and Mboya were on the same wavelength. Their differences arose from local political struggles. The other difference was that Kenyatta was a thief while Mboya was not keen on being party to stealing state resources.
Enough respect to the maverick politician and African nationalist Tom mboya
funny how Kenyan history has never arcoded this man the giant place in history in which he belongs to
Tom mboya was a man among men's,,RIP
Now that's what I'm talking about.
TJM and MLK, i loved these guys
He was a man of this twenty first century #Oh God, what a wicked gvt!
U mean this happened legendary ❤
Greatest Kenyan of all times.
We need history more than money
Our Story. Mzungu history is all lies
Great. Thank you.
This was Dr.MLK and TJ Mboya all in their late 20s all blacks but from 2 different worlds. If only Mboya was a Kikuyu his name could have filled all the history books of our time but being a Luo he is not celebrated in Kenya just like Obama with whom they share history is not celebrated in Kenya coz of his Luo ties by his dad
Lame argument
True bro.
@Mwaniki Mwaniki the kenyan population is yet to be free from ignorance😂
I keep telling people that there are way more Kenyan videos from the colonial era that they will not show on Kenyan TV. The stuff we got brainwashed with as kids during national holidays is a joke. If u live outside of Kenya, do your research. You'll be surprised as to how much footage is out there.!
I grew up in Nairobi, knew that pharmacy very well.
2 GREAT MEN
Wapi hizo clips please?
Kenya will never find another Mboya. Ever. We let down Tom. We wanted a deeply tribal and divided society to aid our leaders in keeping power and looting our country. Mboya's real killers never faced justice. So sad.
That's why until today some leaders would loot n hide in the tribal cacoon likes of Ruto they say their communities are being targeted
surely who killed this gallant son of Africa!
Why they killed him😭😭😭this world aki Kenyattah hadi kaburi la Kimathi mlitufichia
Why would I want to see pain and suffering especially bout Africa? We've had too much of that already.
@mrca360 thanxs 4 da info. i never knew dat!! it's pretty amazing
Tom mboya was a wise man
Why did life give the same fate to this men. Brutal murder
You mean they shared a podium with Martin Luther? What's not said in Kenyan books. I can imagine what he would have done if he had achieved all that by 39
He was actually around 29 years old at the time of this rally. And he was assassinated when he was 39 years old.
Great history.
I never knew about this
Great man
African Socialism. Nothing has ever meant so much to me than that idea.
Tom Mboya was great
great man
We should start the change ourselves. Dont bribe Alliance/Starehe principals when your kids fail, dont jump queues and dont cut corners. What will your kids do when they see their parents practising selfish behaviours?
Sad that Martin Luther was assassinated in 1968 while Tom Mboya in 1969.
As a true I feel like if Mboya died last night.. Jarusinga let your not die
Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. in (1959) New and March with USA President Barack Obama Father from Kenya and African Nationalist Thomas Joseph Mboya coordinated an "airlift" in 1959 of 81 Kenyan students to the USA to attend college.
@gazawire and i kinda agree with then korean prezzo. kenya should be far by now, economically.
So sad an ugly object,in the form of a bullet, was used to silence this great minds of yore.May their ideals, linger on,in the history of humanity.
Tom Mboya at the age of 29
22 ? or 29 ?
Hatim, before you comment on a thread, it's best to read the history of the thread.
aKing
Va bene .
He reached too far to the stars and Kenyatta was just in the clouds.Of course he'd have his wings clips but if you ask me it's the politics of Africans behaving as immature as ever. When will they ever grow up?
nelson kiiru was MLK jr or President JF Kennedy....African too? They had theirwings clipped too. Your statement makes no sense...because at the time...assassinations were a thing...but u have been brainwashed to disparrage anything black/African.... So sad...love urself man...and see stuff more objectively.
Kenya lost a true patriot and a pan africanist.#Anunwaiveringkenyanhero.
Survived white colonials Killed by black colonial. Which is worse?vote
Tom mboya was a CIA Agent (secretly)from 1953-to the day he was assasinated on Sat July 5 1969 .Post independence mission separate President Jomo kenyatta and Jaramogi oginga odinga cause the latter was said to be a socialist.
Both Mboya and Kenyatta were equally Western leaning with string connections to CIA. Their differences arose only from local power struggles in which Kenyatta and his cronies were hell bent on ensuring that Mboya was shunted as far as possible from power. The other significant difference was that Kenyatta was a thief to the core while Mboya did not want to be party to pocketing of state largesse.
Was he a suba or a Luo
He was both. The world is not neatly divided between black and white. There is a great deal of grey areas. But above all, he was a Kenyan.
The big man killed him
Tom Mboya worked for the CIA from 1953 to the day he was assasinated on saturday July 5 1969 .
Was surely a good asset for Africans in that era
All leaders of substance of that period were either aligned to the west and their secret agencies or the east and their secret agencies. Being aligned to one or the other was not an issue. What should matter is what one did with the alignment. Being supported and facilitated by CIA should not be a main issue if ones distractiors were supported and facilitated by some other wing. All in all, Mboya stood out as a leader with unique qualities. Many were supported by US or by USSR or by Britain or by China but only a few came close to shining like Mboya.
They died same year both assassination
Now I know why they had to assassinate tom
From loyalist to nationalist? Foxy Tom mboya worked for the CIA from 1953 to July 5 1969 the day he was assasinated . A CIA plant in the Jomo kenyatta cabinet!!!!!Lol
