  • African Nationalist Thomas Joseph Mboya coordinated an "airlift" in 1959 of 81 Kenyan students to the USA to attend college. With the help of Dr. King, the African American Students Foundation and its sponsors, Harry Belafonte, Jackie Robinson, and Sidney Poitier, Mboya raised sufficient funds to cover the students' travel expenses. One of the students was a certain Barack Husein Obama snr., the late father of US President Barrack Obama. This rally was in Washington DC, 1959

@@siasapolitiks5624 Both Kenyatta and Mboya were leaning to the West. Mboya's killing had nothing to do with CIA. Both of them had no issue with CIA. Mboya's killing was the result of local politics in which Kenyatta and his inner circle could not stand the idea of another person who might not serve the interests of Kenyatta and his inner circle rising to the Presidency. If Kenyatta killed Mboya because of his CIA links then he (Kenyatta) should have committed suicide before killing Mboya. Serious political players on the continent and beyond were either leaning to the East or the West. Non-alignment was just a load of nonsense. Both Mboya and Kenyatta were on the same axis of alignment as far as East/West thinking was concerned. Mboya died because of stupid and tribal politics in Kenya. Kwani who forced Kenyatta to have Mboya in his cabinet? He could have simply dropped if he was not comfortable with him. This idea of using state resources to assassinate other leaders and create orphans and widows must be condemned in the strongest possible manner and resolutely so.

What some people confuse with socialistic tendencies were his pronouncements regarding African Socialism in REACTION to " scientific" socialism that was raging across Africa in the sixties. In terms of economic philosophy Kenyatta and Mboya were on the same wavelength. Their differences arose from local political struggles. The other difference was that Kenyatta was a thief while Mboya was not keen on being party to stealing state resources.

What should matter is what one did with the alignment. Being supported and facilitated by CIA should not be a main issue if ones distractiors were supported and facilitated by some other wing. All in all, Mboya stood out as a leader with unique qualities. Many were supported by US or by USSR or by Britain or by China but only a few came close to shining like Mboya.
