- Camino Primitivo | Oviedo - Santiago
The Camino Primitivo, or the Original Way, is a 321 km pilgrimage through Northern Spain, starting in Oviedo and finishing at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
It’s considered to be the toughest out of all Camino de Santiago routes due to its many steep ascents and descents.
It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.

El Camino Primitivo es fantástico! Es duro pero tranquilo y salvaje. Mucha naturaleza y lugares para recordar 😍
I agreed with you 💯 percent. It was such a memorable experience for me. Thanks for watching Gustavo.
Thank you for putting in all the hard work in sharing your journey. I did the Camino Frances in 22 and I am seeing if I can fit the Camino Primitivo this October. You are such a positive and genuine person. All the best to you! -Matador
With your experience with the AT and Camino Frances, you can easily complete the Primitivo shorter than expected. For a person who is not physically active I found the Primitivo to be challenging, but overall it was an amazing experience. The beauty of the trail is unreal, beautiful. I hope you’ll get to do it this October. Buen Camino to you fellow peregrino. Thanks for watching.
@@Gettinglostonthetrail thank you brother!!
Thank you again Amigo for sharing your journey and time in preparing this video of it. Buen Camino
Hi Antonieta. Thanks for watching.

I found joy and happiness while on the Camino. Primitivo is such an amazing trail with stunning views, but quite challenging. I am excited for you my friend for wanting to do the Primitivo. Thanks for watching and Buen Camino.
I can remember every minute of the way. Thank you my friend for your work. Unfogettable!🎉🎉🎉
Hi friend. I finally got a chance to watch the entire video and discovered I accidentally left out our hike to Lugo. I’m a little disappointed that I can’t retrieve the deleted video. However, our hike to Lugo has it own video so that makes me feel better. So good to hear from you old friend.
Don't worry about it, please. I am very grateful for the day we spent together and for your pleasant company. The video of the 9th was spectacular. Hope to see more adventures of yours soon.
Wonderful video!
Thanks for watching Javier. I’m hoping this video will inspire any future peregrino interested in Camino Primitivo to pursue the journey. It was such an amazing experience for me. Truly an unforgettable journey.
Beautiful journey! Did you find it dangerous as a solo traveller to take this path that is less travelled as compared to the France route?
I love hiking in solitude. Danger, not really. My only fear was injury with ankles and knees and can’t get down the mountain/trail. However, I’m armed with my phone, whistle, and trekking poles just in case. Never use it once. However, on Camino Frances we knew a fellow peregrino that was almost attacked by a big dog. Also, spoke with a group of girls almost got attack by a man in his car. Overall, just be mindful when traveling solo or in a group.
@@Gettinglostonthetrail Thank you so much for your response and sharing of key information about the dangers of Camino. Glad to hear that it's relatively safe to journey solo on the Primitivo. :) I am so looking forward to doing this hike one day! :) Buen Camino!
It’s not a walk in the park so training is required prior to stepping foot on the Camino. Camino Primitivo is considered to be the toughest of all Camino so be prepared is always a must. Thanks for watching.
@@Gettinglostonthetrail I really appreciate your words of encouragement! :)
May I ask what month you did this Camino?
Camino Primitivo: March 23rd - April 4th, 2023. Thanks for watching Carlo.
Hi there, watching your amazing video now and enjoying your coverage... what month of the year did you go? Did you carry all your gear throughout or used bag transfers? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Did it end of March (3/23-4/4). Was expecting rain everyday, but got lucky, only light rain once. Yes I carried all my things. Really, you don’t need a lot on the Camino. The lighter your pack the happier you’ll be LOL.
@@Gettinglostonthetrail Thanks for your quick reply! Is there anything you’d do differently?
Don’t pack deadweight item like a lock, extra battery for camera, extra hat, etc. Make sure to do a long hike a month before the trip just in case you have injury or shoes not working out on longer training hike there will still be time left to switch it. My biggest regret was wearing boots on a long training hike a week prior to departure. Big no no, ankle swell up and end up walking the Primitivo with a swollen ankle and limping daily. Need to embrace the suck on the Camino. Some day are better than others.
