I'm sitting here listening & I'll admit that after 26-years of clean, honest, straight living which I did all the right things. Married 23-years, 2-Great Boys (now Men) that all meant the world to me. I ended My straight walk that I was proud of and that had taken me 47-years to earn. 1-night after some major mind bending (while house sitting for B.F. in another stateI was attacked).
My Best Friend was out of town & it was 1-of thier friends. My B.F.s daughter stopped by to see if I was ok. That was a No!
She asked if I cared if she smoked to stay-up.. I didn't give a shit at the time.
Long story short at 47 -Old I Made a The Choice to use again just for that night.
Fast Forward 8-years-
I've lost my freedom (never had been arrested) now 4 + -times, lost my privileged life, friends no more, family disowned after 1st arrest & I feel my honor will never be recovered. Im looking at doing another stretch soon & I'm now questioning every breath.
My kids havent seen me in 8-years because this all started in a different state. I keep everyone away from me because I'm not going to continue to lie to anyone. I've just disappear. Never think it will be OK for just 1 more time. Be proud of yourself! Love + Let your Parents Love You. You never know where that 1 more time will lead you.

This song hits home so hard.... I'm a grateful recovering addict..... I relapsed in July 2020 and got clean again in September 2020 and I'm lucky my po didn't lock me back up.... January 2021 I'm supposed to start taking classes and get my certification to be a drug and alcohol peer support specialist.... I hope you continue to stay clean suda your music means so much to so many struggling addicts..... I know it does to me and I'm goin to be playing this song in my next group this week.... I'm currently in an intensive outpatient program and I identify with music really strongly and most of your music I can relate to on so many levels.... I lost my daughter in October 2012 and ever since then addiction has been addiction for me it was no longer just a social thing for me after her murder..... And honestly bro your music gives me so much hope when I listen to the music you speak about being clean and sober.... NA has done so much for me it would be absolutely awesome to see you in a meeting sometime maybe a NA conference or a zoom meeting I'd figure out how to do the zoom thing if I knew you'd be in it..... Im in revocery as we speak ive been clean off pills for 3 months now and meth well 2 weeks i keep slipping becaise im alone im homeless i got days without eating its so freaking hard. But i wont slip because i want my kid's. And i lnow my kids gonna need their mami. I got faith in myself. All this bad stuff thats happening will soon be nothing but a bad nightmare
