Never heard of you before. But grew up one town south in Faribault. Crazy what shows up on youtube at 530am 😂. Quartback club is one of my favorite places to eat in Northfield. Hope you found something good. Just think most springs that riverwalk is underwater. I have spent a few springs helping the previous owners of Froggy bottoms squeegee water out the door. To bad you were not there a week prior. Defeat of Jesse James Days is a sight to see! The reenactments are some of my favorite around.
Too bad you couldn't stay at The Archer House while here. Sadly, it burned down last November. It was built in 1877. My daughter was the General Manager there for 11 years.
Iv been watching your channel for years, it's awesome to see you guys in Minnesota! I have learned alot from your videos and always look forward to the next! Safe travels! Have fun!
I'm from, Northfield. Class of, 01. Hogan Brothers is always packed no matter what. If the Rube-N-Stein is still there you should have gone there. great food. but, Northfield been growing still. Lived there almost my whole life. Dad was a banker at, 1st National for years and years... Some old classmates of mine work there now too...
Adam Nice to see you I'm MN. Many truly great places to visit and camp here, especially a couple hours north. The North shore of Lake Superior will blow you away if you come back. Your timing is off a bit too. The MN State Fair held in St Paul the 12 days prior to Labor Day is regularly rated as the #1 State Fair in the country. You would very much enjoy machinery Hill and especially the restored tractors, steam, hit & miss etc. Hope you make it back next year!
I know there so many great places there and we look forward to visiting more of them on a future trip where we can get in Wisconsin and Michigan also. 👍🏻
Wow, Abom up here in MN, who would have thought... And heading down to Sioux Falls, passing near me on the way down, i live down in SW MN and go to Sioux Falls for shopping now and then, we really enjoy going to the Falls Park for the Christmas Lights around the holidays, the whole park is lit up, every tree decorated, Winter Wonderland. Really something to see if you go through that time of year.
Northfield has two colleges. I read somewhere that the downtowns of smaller towns do well because of the foot traffic from the schools. Back in the day the Cannon River supplied power for grain mills hence the dam and walls. They have done a nice job making the river an amenity. Just spent an afternoon there with my wife two weeks ago as a day trip. Had ice cream in a little take out in the mill you refered to. Hidden in a passagewy along the river walk. Like you we enjoy exploring places alon the way on our road trips. Because of you I visited Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham.Thanks.
Yes, Northfield is the home of St. Olaf's College and Carleton College and they are very prestigious. The students who attend there know that they are better than anyone else and they are so special!
I always used Good Year tires on her Honda after replacing 3 tires on the same wheel, with the same inside premature uneven wear. Switched brand to Michellin have not had any more problems.
I agree michellin or bridgestone are great tires bridgestone makes in my opinion the best heavy duty small highway tire I would go wtih the dueler ht with a load range of E or at least D
Next time, get to MN on Labor Day weekend & visit Western MN Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag MN. It is arguably the largest showing of old farm equipment in the country. There are shows with a few more steam tractors, but this show has just about everything someone figured would make a wheel go around, to make farming easier. It's all volunteer: every penny of your tickets pays to keep the show going, no one receives one cent of pay. If such equipment interests you, better plan on two days. (Yes, I'm a member. Visit the Villaume Corliss engine if you ever come.)
You should enjoy Souix Falls. It is unique. The red rocks along the river and the park by the falls is worth visiting, however difficult to find. I was there this spring on my road trip to the Badlands and Black Hills and enjoyed it. SD is great.
We bought our first camper this spring. An older 5th wheel. I made the mistake of thinking the old tires would be fine for a couple of local trips - first time out we blew a tire. You're right - what a mess.
I wish I would have known you guys were in Northfield, I actually work there for an electrical company. Live just east of apple valley. Hope you enjoyed the trip through some nice restaurants around.
Honest.... I missed seeing Abby.... That was great to be there at the right time Adam....Keeping things perfect working order is....peace of mind.... Thats like a weir, not really a dam, they are dangerous...we removed ours on the Bow, and built rapids, kinda zig zeg... Abby gonna nail the conference meeting!!!...Cheers Blessings.
I had to make a 400mi haul today and I saw a Kodiak on the side of the road with a blown tire and I thought of you And hoped you didn’t have the same fate.
Don't know if this video is days old, but if you happen to read this before heading off you realllllly should take a detour on the way to Souix Falls and hit up the meat market in Nicollet. Schmidt's, not George's. You won't be disappointed. The town has a population of 1,000 and there are usually 10+ people manning the meat counter when I stop in and who knows how many more working in the back because people drive from all over to visit. I can't comment on the steak quality, but they make the best brats I've ever had.
My homestate. Northfeild is busy this time year. There are 2 prominent colleges in that city and all the colleges have started. Check out the cupcake place. I wish you were spending more Time in Minnesota so you could see the north shore on lake superior. It's like no other place in the state especially when the fall colors start.
James-Younger Bank Raid of 1876 On Thursday, September 7, 1876, eight outlaws - including Jesse James, his brother Frank and the Younger brothers, Cole, James and Bob - approached Northfield with the intent to rob the First National Bank of Northfield MN. The raiders threatened cashier Joseph Lee Heywood at gunpoint, but he refused to open the safe and was fatally shot. Hope you didn't miss that.
I used to travel to Northfield, MN a lot to a company called Sheldahl who makes flexible circuits and used to make a bunch of gold plated film for NASA………
Abom ull notice mpls has a ton of old school manufacturing companies that are either still in business or have been turned into museums such as kirt work holding Vises and the jackson st. Train museum. Plenty of others to list but theres tons here that I think would entertain you baised on the content you've put out over the years.
Schell's is in New Ulm. It's rather out of way from the route to Souix Falls, unfortunately. Lots of small county roads rather than just hitting 2 interstates. Schell's is the second oldest continuously operating family owned brewery after Yungling's. On the opposite side of town they've got the Starkeller which ages sour beers in giant Cypress tanks, right in the tap room, that used to be in use at Schell's.
Northfield is where the James-Younger gang met their demise. Wonder of that bank building is still standing? The towns people came to arms to defend their bank and shot the hell out of the gang. The James boys escaped but the Younger’s didn’t fair so well.
Sorry Adam, but it isn’t the same without your missus excitedly jumping up and down in the background in anticipation of seeing the next tourist thing, or pub visit. Just sayin…,
You said Northfield is a nice community, let’s ask The James-Younger Gang, they just wanted to do a bank withdrawal and the town shoots the hell out of them, don’t seem to friendly to me
Yep, it was definitely poor misguided upbringing for sure..... who would've thought oldtime folks wanted to protect their hard earned valuables let alone shoot back ??? Definitely Darwin's rule of culling the herd on display that day.
Quite the Captain Obvious comment there. It’s a way to encourage the people who watch the videos not to litter. How would you like people leaving trash on your property?
@@AbomAdventures That is the point I was making I do not need any encouragement would never litter. I guess you think some of your viewers would do such a thing. I hope that is not the case.
I miss northfield I was raised here. One day I'm coming back to show my wife and kid where I grow up and had a wonderful childhood
As a Northfield native, I'm flattered you made this video.
What a surprise to stumble upon a video on RUclips featuring my hometown, thanks for stopping by Northfield!
You missed our festival by a couple of days celebrating the Defeat of Jessie James.
Welcome to Minnesota, even if it's only a brief visit. I'm glad the weather has cooperated. Northfield is a nice little town.
Never heard of you before. But grew up one town south in Faribault. Crazy what shows up on youtube at 530am 😂.

We stayed at a camp in Faribault, on the lake.

Thanks for bringing us along Adam, nothing better than seeing our great country!
Please come back to MN in January for some ice fishing.
You made it all the way to Apple Valley Minnesota for the truck alignment. Damn, if I had known, I would have stopped to say hi.
Hope you come back to MN sometimes-plenty of beautiful scenery and things to do as well as history up here in the northern parts. Safe travels
I've driven through Northfield several times, but I'm seeing more with your video!
So cool to see all the comments from folks that are in MN!
I am in Cottage Grove. Love all the love!
Cheers!
Always great to see Old Glory.
Without protesters
I grew up in Faribault MN, about 20 miles south of Northfield.
with Cole and Jesse ?
Faribault/Smallian town
love your travel videos guys but I can't wait to see the progress on your new shop space and also hear more on your new property site. Bon buoyage.

Welcome to Northfield!
Thank you Adam love watching your travels I am from South Africa
SO bummed you were within 30 minutes of me and I did not get to meet you!

Must be because I'm hungry too but I was looking forward to seeing what you picked for lunch. Pretty area though
Have a blessed trip.
Hitting local breweries is one of the things I always look forward to when on the road! Hope you found a good one to enjoy a cold local beer!

Welcome to MN!
welcome to Minnesota
My Aunt used to run Three Acre's antiques that used to be on Main street
Further north in Rosemount is Protolabs. An army of Haas machines. I wonder what you would think if you saw it?
I would really like to meet you next time you're in MN!
Almost my backyard. Any chance for a meet & greet?
Morning Buddy. Love your vacation walkabouts 👍🏻 I’d love the U.K. 🇬🇧 too fly the flag like you do in the US 🇺🇸🤩 Glad you’ve sorted out your motor 👍🏻

To bad I didn't know you were in Northfield. I live 15 miles from there
Northfield machine company is there. If still in business.
Mainly woodworking machines
I think Schells brewery is there.
Big farming country
Schell's is in New Ulm. It's rather out of way from the route to Souix Falls, unfortunately. Lots of small county roads rather than just hitting 2 interstates.

Hey, you say you like "Dams" keep heading west. West of Spokane Washington is the Grand Coulee dam. It will take your breath away.
Northfield is where the James-Younger gang met their demise. Wonder of that bank building is still standing? The towns people came to arms to defend their bank and shot the hell out of the gang. The James boys escaped but the Younger’s didn’t fair so well.
Yep. 1876.
bank still there, they have jessie james days in the summer
Dude you're in my state!!
Yes … you missed visiting the site of the September 7th 1876 “Northfield Raid” by the James-Younger Gang. Didn’t end well for them.
Sorry Adam, but it isn’t the same without your missus excitedly jumping up and down in the background in anticipation of seeing the next tourist thing, or pub visit. Just sayin…,
did you aleast throw away the trash?
I enjoy your business videos... will you be home soon?

Froggy Bottoms Yep!
There is a very good food truck in front of ziggys
Oh no! You left me hangin'-was lunch really that boring? And you didn't see any bandits?
Think its a weir in the UK, not a dam. It oxygenates the water Adam
I live on a pice of land on the river lol
visit the spam museum in Austin!!!!!!
Bet $$ balance would have fixed it. There are slight allowances with alignment.
When you let off the steering wheel and it pulls to the right, the alignment is off. The guys proved it too.
Hey bud how’s your new shop coming along
The sad thing about finding the trash is there’s probably a trash can just a few steps away at the end of the bridge.
Did you go to Northfield Machinery?
😎
wonder what the fishing was like there
why the interstste 79 logo ??
Telling your viewers not to litter is not going to help stop the person who actually left that ice cream cup in the flower pot.

That was a spillway not a damn
Damn you're right. 😏
See the places where Jessie James Robed the Bank.
MaltOMeal
get some good smoked fish while in mn.
Adam, I would like to suggest that you stick to machine shop videos and skip the travelogue stuff. Thanks.
