These have/and continue to work super well! I coach 6th grade boys and at the beginning of the season none of the plays I taught seemed to make sense. I taught them this and we immediately went on a 3 game win streak. Thanks for posting these.
I've run this Cross action set for my middle school rec league high competition boys and girls program last year. Pro's: Great initial spacing.. the defense has to decide if they hedge off corners to help or not.. opens kick outs and back door cuts off the top action. Also, handoffs at top cross dribble are hard to blow up or intercept.. do near zero turnovers, And you get ball reversals and misdirection off the initial cross that confuses the defense.. at least the first few times. Cons: Defense can jam up the center if you don't have outside range to shoot off kick-outs. Defense can also "ICE" the ball like a screen to jam up the cross dribble drive action. COUNTERS: You can counter ICEING by slipping the cross (faking the cross drive, reverse and driving opposite). Also, corner back-cutting action off the dribble drive, either slipped or crossing, can open up a shot or lane. In short. I will continue to use this offensive action... works for both higher skilled/recruited and more developmental teams. 4-1 spacing also works with other actions.. (Center DHO) that Jaime Carreon has shown on his channel, which I also use.
Just came across your videos. I really like your approach, content, drills/plays and teaching style coach. Great simple but effective offence for youth players. Keep up the good work. Watched a lot of coaching videos and they just get too complex. Subscribed and look forward to more videos.
Simplicity is always the most effective. Well done coach.
