Just purchased my first Surface Pro and your series Be a Surface Pro has been extremely helpful. I can not thank you enough for these helpful tips! Thank you!

Hello. Thanks for all the great tips. I have a question though, how can I make the touch keyboard automatically appear when clicking a text input with a mouse (similar to how this is possible with touch). (I prefer using a mouse as a cursor.) I know it can appear if you click the icon on bottom right corner of screen but I want a quicker way of having the touch keyboard appear only when I need to input text.

I'm not sure of a way to do that. Try looking under typing in the settings app, or ease of access.

Hey thanks so much for your help!! I have a general question. I've got my second SP3 and the same has happened with the first. It just won't start! I have hone through all the steps in the MS support page but to no avail. I'm distraught! Any ideas? I'm considering not getting a MS laptop/tablet for my next purchase which is very upsetting! Please help!!

Frustrating! Usually I find that holding the power button and the volume up key together for about 15 seconds fixes most issues. Since you have an SP3 which could be a few years old now, you could be having issue with the battery. So maybe also try that while you're connected to power.

Also, relevant bit from the Surface Support Page:
Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 2, and Surface Pro
Press and hold the power button for a full 10 seconds, until the screen turns off, then release the power button.
Note: On some Surface models, the screen may immediately turn off when pressing the power button. If this happens, continue to hold for the full 10 seconds and then release.
Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Surface logo.
If that doesn't work, use this two-button shutdown process to make sure your Surface completely turns off. Here’s how:
Press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds and then release it.
Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button at the same time for at least 15 seconds and then release both.
The screen may flash the Surface logo, but continue holding the buttons down for at least 15 seconds.
After you release the buttons, wait 10 seconds.
Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Surface logo.

I tried that. It's on MS support page. The laptop is dead :(((
