Hi Laura, Great video! Just the info I needed. I’m in Adelaide, South Australia, also zone 10. Love herbaceous peonies and would like to give it a try. Could you update us on the herbaceous peony? Did it flower? Thank you 💕💕
Itoh (say”eee toe”)peonies were developed post WWII by Dr. Toichi Itoh a Japanese botanist with the successful intersection of the two peony types in 1948. His widow gave permission for sale of the hybridized peony in the US in 1956 when they were named for Dr Itoh. Dr Itoh’s original plant bears yellow flowers. American hybridizes developed other colors after it came to the US. A fascinating history of a beautiful plant, you are fortunate to have them. It will be interesting to see how your herbaceous peony does in the heat Lucky you!
Hi friend! What I would do for your space would be pots with evergreen plants. Lemon cypress do well in sun and part shade and will give you the vertical interest and year long greenery maybe three pots with annuals to fill in the pot. Therefore if you move you take them with you.☺️ Just an idea!☺️ 💚L🐝
Wow! So great you’re able to grow them! I’m zone 9b-haven’t had luck with peonies in the past. Is this area facing West? Looking forward to seeing their growth!
Hi Diana I try to fertilize at least twice a year! When I first see buds starting to appear April-May And then again in June-July to help with the bloom growths 🌸🌸 💚L🐝
