Bought one many years ago from an older gentleman who took unbelievable care of it. Shined like a gem and had a ‘59 3hp. Johnson outboard on it. Ive fished with it all these years and still love it. Restored the motor and buff the boat every pre season to make it shine. Great boats!

Yeh they really are wonderful boats. Very little maintenance even when used frequently. Cargo capacity is more than adequate. I use oars, trolling motor, and in the right conditions, even stand and use a SUP paddle. I've owned 3 of them over the years. Number 3 will not be sold.

Love the lines of those boats. Have seen a couple of them over the years. I have a 1946 Old Town Octa I rebuilt almost 40 years ago and needs to be redone again now. I love old boats/canoes. Nice vid.

How can I get in touch with you? I just bought one of these Grumman Sport boats. Driving to PA in two weeks to pick it up. Do you have ministry contacts too? Want to talk with you.

Thanks for sharing. There are certainly too many small boats to choose from! I have owned more than 30. I have owned 3 Grumman Sport Boats, and 3 Grumman canoes. For the type of water fun I enjoy the GSP is the best choice. Easily maintained, light weight, row easy, great with a trolling motor, impressive cargo capacity, and practically indestructible. I will never sell my current Grumman Sport Boat. I have another video on the restoration I did on number 3.

I have a Grumman square stern canoe. They are built like a tank. I have had mine for 52 years with no problems. You can see it on my yt channel.

I agree. They are excellent designs, indestructible materials, and quality workmanship. I use mine regularly. I row it, stand and paddle it with a SUP paddle, or use a 30lb thrust trolling motor. Always in quiet back-water. I also own three kayaks, and a 16' home-built (plywood) cajun pirogue.Have fun out there. Safety first.

@@mnmgreen I have a 5hp motor on the back. Works great! I ran it up on a steel fence post under the water. It just put a small scratch in it. A tank!!! See it at work on my channel.

I have a Sport boat as well. Pretty stable. My issue with them is too much rocker. They turn on a dime nicely though but not good straight line efficiency. I had a 5 hp four stroke on mine but sold that and now i use a 44 lb thrust electric trolling motor for fishing and to assist a bit when rowing for duck hunting. I preferred my freighter canoe for hull speed and windy conditions though.

Hi M. Green, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these boats, (I have never owned one of these boats.) It is in great condition other then the fella that is selling it patched up a small hole with B.J. weld and looks like he did a good job; he assured me it did not leak. Grumman sport boats don't come up for sale that often and I will not go to sleep on this one.
    Gracias for sharing your thoughts.

The Grumman Sportboat is a wonderful boat for many reasons. Number one? Almost indestructible. Maintenance free, wash it down. Done. Cargo capacity is more than adequate. Small gas or electric motor moves it easily. I row mine quite often in quiet water, even against tide. As long as wind stays below 10 knots or so. Hope you enjoy many hours of your boat!

I have a 17 foot square back Grumman but have always wanted to get one of these because I live on the Detroit river and I do get a bit more chop then an inland lake. If anyone knows of one for sale in Ontario Canada please let me know. Thanks

How much. Are these worth? I just bought one off a limb and didn't really know anything about them. Mine is in identical condition to this one.... What are they worth in a condition like this? Just wondering.... I'm going to use mine but people keep telling me they are sought after...

Oh and mine is a 15' built in 1977...

@@lml6.653 Like any old boat the value is based upon 3 criteria; condition, accessories, and how much a buyer will pay. I have seen these Grumman Sport Boats sell for $2500 on a road-ready trailer. If you add oars, motors, batteries, etc. the price goes up. I have owned many small boats, under 20 feet. The Grumman Sport Boat is my favorite because it is just about indestructible, easy to maintain, and has a impressive load capacity.
