Not only English is not our first language in Brazil, but also it was the 80's... It was not as easy as it is today with internet to find song lyrics or learn another language. And still, people knew how to sing this song so passionately

As i think about it more and more the moment that everyone shared on that day for the concert had to be so damn good! For the performers the feeling they felt I would have been so hype hearing people sing my songs if i was an artist. so can only imagine :) thanks for the lovely message. best wishes.

It was January 1985, I was 24 years old and I was in the Maracanã stands to the left of the stage. There were 300 thousand people singing all the songs, a sea of people. The synergy was total. This show and the following year's show at Wembley Stadium were considered the biggest and best in Queen's career. After the song "Love of my life" sung throughout the rock city, which I sang at the top of my lungs, Brian May said: “This song is very special for people in South America. Thank you for making it so special for all the other people in the world, ”he said in a voice choked with emotion. Well, this song was not popular in Europe, but after the RIRio of 85 this changed. This show was considered one of the greatest live performances in rock history. We live in the moment and only long after we realize that we lived history.

One of the most beautiful songs ever created, and the crowd here is just awesome. Though Brazilian crowds being amazing is usually just par for the course. lol How it must feel hearing that amount of people chanting your name (as happens to Brian here) is beyond comprehension really. Rock In Rio '85 was actually the very first Rock In Rio, and was held in January of that year. Fantastic reaction as always. :)
Having watched hours of various festivals around the world. No one beats Brazilian or Argentinian crowds for energy or passion. Makes me hate British crowds.
As as Brazilian who lived in England for a few years it felt incredibly weird for me to attend concerts in London. I couldn’t wrap my head around on why everybody was sitting down and not singing along to any songs hahaha
It was not as usual to have foregin singers making conerts around here... So I guess it made things even extra special

Great choice Kid. I'm a big Queen fan and this is among my favourites. It's spine-tingling to experience this song live at a concert. I was lucky to see Queen 6 times in the UK back in the day and they always played this one. I love it the way Freddie leaves the first half of the song to the crowd, and they all knew the lyrics. Their live shows are by far the best I ever experienced. Good luck getting to a concert yourself soon. Thanks for sharing.

that's the thing im one of those horrible people who never know freaking names of artists slowly slowly picking it up and trying to get better but never a good skill on my end. but the we are the champions i remember from the revenge of the nerds growing up

Freddie Mercury had a voice of an Angel he was so talented and he knowed exactly how to control his audience. He was so amazing and and his fans miss him so much.. He would be so happy that he has all his fans and then still making new fans this long after his death
That's the beauty of talented artists. His music imo after watching more and more is timeless. The group was just amazing and even to this day some of my friends are mentioning him so it's so awesome his voice. Couldn't agree more with you. Thank you melissa =)

The Works Tour in 1984/1985 was one of Queen's largest tours and included the Brazil Rock in Rio festival-in which they appeared on stage at two o'clock in the morning in front of 470,000 people during the first night and 250,000 on the second night. The Boston Globe described it as a "mesmerizing performance".

Brian know about the phones - and now he asks the crowd to turn on the lights when he sings this song - with Freddie appearing as a hologram singing and conducting the crowd. that brings tears to the eyes also Brians.They still tour as Queen + Adam Lambert - and think about coming to America/Canada? next year if they are fit - Roger is 73 and Brian is 75.

Yep, buddy. I'll cut you some slack, but, when all this went on, English speaking countries barely acknowledged this song. The beauty lied exactly in a non-English speaking third world country doing... well... what you saw.
I cant speak for everyone else only for myself. Me I was in diapers when this song came out and about to be born into this world. I never got to appreciate queen when they first came out but I can now. That is the wonder and joy for me. Happy weekend.
