Right? I wouldn't just waltz into a dog shelter and say "give me the Great Dane mutt you guys have in the back!" No, I went for my tiny mutt because I know he's the right size for my family. Same with Blue Tangs. Like she said, it's like owning a wild animal that also costs a million dollars annually to care for. If you're a fish expert, then go for it.
I work at a pet store, I had a customer come in wanting to buy a Blue Tang for her 4 year-old son. I had to explain to her the difficulty & investment, how she can't just put it in a 3 gal tank. She then asked about the Clown Fish & decided that would be better for him. I literally had to call a manager to confirm a refusal of sale for this lady. I told her I couldn't sell to her bc she wouldn't be properly caring for them. So she ended up getting a goldfish I guess a few days ago, my coworker said she refused to get a 10 gal min, instead got a 1 gal w 3 goldfish. I feel so bad for those fish. I also feel somewhat bad sometimes telling people no, but at the end of the day I'm more concerned about the animals well being & life, as do most people who work at pet stores.
Exactly. I had looked at my coworker, like poor fishes. They won't last 4 days in that thing, considering the fact it was 3 LG male goldfish. Cuz their son wanted one. UGH.
It's sad. They aren't any different to dogs or cats. They are animals and they have needs. They are living creatures, not decorations. You wouldn't get a dog and keep him in his cage all his life would you? I've noticed fish get the short end of the stick when it comes to this. Most people just don't even bother learning how to care of them and expect them to be okay living in a little bowl, which is why most fish die within several months. If people can't properly care for fish, they shouldn't get any. Don't sentence them to death.
Jfc, why is she getting so much hate? She obviously knows what she's talking about, and knows what she's doing. If you're coming out of the hole of ignorants, and have no knowledge on blue tangs, why go out of your way and comment bullcrap?
Zostiel because of these reasons: -people think they know everything -people always want to feel like they're right even if told otherwise by experts -people are simply assholes -people dont care about the animal(s) and are probably currently killing them by not following whatever rules are given in vids like these -people are actually butthurt 12 year olds
She knows what she is talking about and she knows EVERYTHING about animals. Think about it when someone commented it on your video if you where her. Stop bullying you tubers you bitch!
Kenny McCormick I'm 12 and I like fishes but like she say in the vid I don't want to buy one or any of those type of fish heck I don't want a fish cuz my cat will eat it under a min. Lol. And plus it cost so much money 😛😛
+Pixie Prince Fish have been around and surviving a lot longer than we have and they've been a food source for a lot of marine life and other animals for a long time. The ones we take out of the ocean are already populated beyond what is needed. "Caring" for them does nothing to their numbers, they're just there to be eaten by other animals.
"Instead of spending all your money to potentially kill a blue tang, consider donating some money to wildlife funds and ocean conservation funds to conserve the species in the wild!" THANK YOU AHHHHHHH
@Samuel Nelson mk let me get this straight. You got mad at someone for getting excited about Taylor asking people to CONSIDER donating to help wild life. And they weren't even talking to you. You made a fool of yourself for no reason
When I first saw ratatouille, I really wanted a rat, but my parents said no because at the time because they hated rats. It's been 8 years since that movie came out and I recently got my first two rats. I am so happy my parents said no to me when I was younger, because now I feel that I have alot more responsibility and can now give my rats the proper care they deserve. My point is, just because an animal in a movie looks cool or cute, doesn't mean you are qualified or knowledgeable enough to properly care for the animal.
Marble Woolf I had rats in secondary, and thankfully I was well aware of the responsibility they came with. I treated them like kings, once every month I'd fill their whole cage with shredded paper and they'd go nuts. I bought them running balls, played with them outside, bought them a gigantic cage with gym extensions, had them on strict diets, trained them with peanuts and gave them lots of love. If you can put in the time and effort they're perfect pets. They're as clean as you let them be.
I have 4 boys right now 😊 Such amazing, sweet, and intelligent animals who are so misunderstood. I can't tell you how much I love my little guys, they love kisses and scratches and being with me in general; much more affectionate than a cat and cleaner too.
Thanks for making this.. I hate seeing people buy pets just because they come out in movies. I remember when tango came out everyone went out to buy a chameleon and most did not make it past a year.
Bianca you obviously either didn't actually do a project on chameleons or got your facts from the wrong source. Some species of chameleon can live as much as 10 years in captivity when taken care of.
I don’t have the time or commitment for a saltwater tank.. so I don’t get a saltwater tank. WHY CAN SOME PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CANT JUST BUY AN ANIMAL BECAUSE U SAW IT I A FRECKING MOVIE
Yes!!! And when people buy animals like bunnies and things people aren’t prepared for as gifts for little kids 🙁 it’s so sad, and so many animals die because people don’t understand that pets are a responsibility😭😭😭
Do I still want a blue tang? Yeah! They're cool and beautiful and awesome! Will I ever get one? Absolutely no way. I'm working my ass off to get my tank set up for my veil tail betta! No way would I ever be calm about a giant salt water tank! Blue tangs are beautiful to look at; they are not for a novice or slacker who thinks it'll be a walk in the park.
My local pizzeria has a massive tank with a Blue and a Yellow Tang in there. There's also an Achilles Tang and a Fire goby. There's a few other fish I can never identify because they so faaaast. But. This is okay. It's a massive tank. Everything looks clean, the fish aren't sick. They don't fight. They all have their space. Meanwhile, a pet store a few hour drive away has blue tangs in 30 gallon tanks. They have a baby alligator (idk why?) in a 40? 50- gallon? Tank. All the fish are ripped apart and fight on the daily. The corals are okay. Anemones get taken to good homes. But I'm just. I find it so weird how a pizzeria can take better care of massive fish than a pet store. Research is important. Okay I'll stop blabbering now.
I was at the pet store and a woman who was very heavily pregnant squatted down and grabbed a tiny plastic fish bowl that seemed like it could have contained less than three cups of water. She went "Hey honey let's get a betta fish!" To her husband who was holding her four year old boy's hand... I walked over and literally pointed to a 3 gallon tank with a filter and heater and said in the sweetest tone that I could possibly manage "This tank is super good for Betta fish and has a built in heater and filter!" (I would recommend at least a 10 gallon for a Betta but I didn't want to overwhelm her) she then nodded, grabbed the tiny bowl, and then walked and grabbed her kid's hand and had him pick out a red Betta. They then paid and walked out. I was FUMING. I can't believe people do these kinds of things and put these amazing fish in such horrible conditions and think it is perfectly fine!!!! Ugh I was so pissed
Elanore Nordquist it's sad to see that there are no restrictions to owning fish or intentionally let them suffer because they don't want to buy the right equipment. there should be more rules. when you buy a dog the breeder will also ask you if you live in a house with a yard or how you will care for them and give them their needs.
I wouldn't be too upset. It's completely possible that they had a tank at home but wanted to give the little boy the experience of carrying the fish there.
So I'm curious, why do they put betta fish on the shelves in those tiny cups? I've always thought it seemed cruel, but just figured they were okay like that.
Some lessons go right over people's heads. I like to think most people come away from Finding Dory not wanting a wild-caught pet fish, but some kids clearly just want the BLOO FISH ON TEEVEE I hate to think how these same kids react to Madagascar.
I have a friend that owns a Blue Tang. She has a 6ft tank (not sure how many gallons). In her tank she has the whole finding nemo scene (clown fishes, ect..) She told me that ''Dory'' alone is costing her thousands!
I had a 125 tank. It is 6' long. It was SO expensive, and a TON of work. I'd rather do fresh, so much easier and less expensive. I didn't have a tang, but I did have a pair of clowns.
You are correct. I would not do a Kole Tang in anything less than a 55g. A 4 foot tank would be minimum for Koles and Bristletooths. 5 foot for Yellows but you could get away with it in a 120g. The comment is meant for beginners for sure. If you know about Kole tangs than you are knowledgeable enough
Chelsea Birbal You would think though their parents would have the common sense to say no, or even better, explain to them why it's not a good idea and why it's bad for the fish and most children wouldn't want the fish anymore if the parent pointed out to them the message of the film.
Finding nemo: a movie about why it's wrong to take fish out of the wild. Finding Dory: same message Parents: lol let's take a fish out of the wild so my kids can have their own "Dory" Me: did we even watch the same movie
Right? My friends little sister wanted a “Nemo” and “dory” fish, her mom got it for her and they sadly passed away a week later (not to mention they were kept in a fish bowl)
i´m literally crying of happiness. it makes me so emotional to see people like you that are actually concerned about the animals and about preserving them. we are the worst thing that could´ve happened to the poor things, and you´re using your influence in a good way and for a good cause. keep up the excellent work, you just got a new subscriber :)
Ecartts you are so dumb coming from an aquamarine scientist I totally agree with her, that's like saying humans will be fine in a room with water and food with a breeding partner. Didn't think so, most likely you have a blue tang that lives in a 10gallon tank and will only live for a year.
Rachel Wiliamson What the hell did you think I've said ? LoL .. Cuz it seems you got me wrong.. edited comment.. No longer interested in this topic or to argue for non-sense
Honestly I hate that people do that I have a hamster he lives in a cage that is way bigger than nessicary has lots of toys always has food always has water has a wheel to get exercise but like 5 years ago I would beg my parents for a hamster and they would always say no so like 1 year ago I thought well if I research them and get to know a lot about them I could get one right and that is exactly what happened I researched them for like a month and my parents finally said ok and you know if my parents had given in when I was younger I would have given some hamster a terrible life but saying no to me made me do everything I could to get it now I have had my hamster for a year and I at least think he has everything a hamster could wish for so do your absolute best research before getting a hamster or any animal for that fact
You are a very good kid because when I was 7 I killed a hamster R.I.P hamster. I fed him a FootLoop and he choked and died after that I felt like a really mean and bad person but now I'm vegetarian and LOVE animals and take good care for the animal. At least I didn't call the animal a it
All About Mia what does a hamster have to do with fish!?!!?! A FISH NAMED HAMSTER THAT IS BRILLIENT HAHAHAHAHAHA that's the funniest thing i've ever heard, a domestic bred hamster VS a fish that was caught in the wild HAHAHAHAHA
I think it's interesting but frustrating how many people want to keep fish after seeing Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. It makes me sit back like, "Did you even... WATCH the movie?"
This actually happened back when 101 dalmatians first came out. People got a bunch of dalmatians without realizing they need a shit ton of care and then a bunch ended up on the streets or in pounds. People tend to buy animals after seeing a movie without doing research which ends up being to the disadvantage of the animals.
Mysti's Games That's really sad... I have a malamute and it's similar to a Husky. A Husky is very hyper and hard to take care of. They also take up a lot of space, and people don't realize that so they end up in the streets :(
I did my research, so much research, but my mother didn't care. To her, my hamster was replacable, I regret getting it so much, knowing it was my mom's rules I had to follow. I still want one, but I'm promising to myself I will only get one when I grow up.
Just what the world needs! /sarcasm My university was pumping out about 400 marine biologists a year, when there was maybe 5 jobs for them a year in my city!
I made a blue tang out of clay and stuck it to to the side of a cup I have a few animals but I don’t think I’m ready for a saltwater tank, fake animals are great alternatives to real if you’re not ready!
I'm more into mammals and birds , I know a lot about them. Don't know much about fish and as cool as salt water fish are I wouldn't even be stupid enough to get one. I've seen blue tangs in pet stores and I've seen how big they can get, 10 gallons would definitely not be enough. All the people saying shit about how she's wrong, no one forced you to be here so just leave. She seems pretty knowledgeable to me. If so many people on here are "experts" then make your own damn video .
christina 1993 saltwaterfish arent hard to keep as long as you have the proper size tank and equipment as well as you keep up on the care of the tanks and do alot of reserch. hippo tangs aka dory fish are really easy to keep if you go to a place that actually sepcializes in fish and you have a tank about 75 gallons or larger. ive kept my hippo tabg with my yellow tang and some other small fish for about 7 years before my house underwent a fire.... rn ive been rebuilding my tanks and setups and everything is going good. i will say that salt water fish keeping is expencive but as long as you have the equipment and determination to care for your fish, you will do good.
christina 1993 I love ocean creatures especially sea turtles but I would never want to own them im sad that ppl don't understand how much harm we are doing to these animals and it pisses me off when people destroy sea life for their stupid selfies. A lot of people don't care and litter everywhere too I see these things happen all the time at the beach.
I'm into mammals and birds too and only stick to regular beginner level fish. I have a hedgehog at the moment and I love her so much. I can say I'm pretty knowledgeable about hedgehogs at least since I've studied them since I was very young. I teach people in my area about them and if they are thinking about getting one the things they need and what type of cage wheels to NOT get them (Wire wheels etc)
Remi H. I love Harry Potter and I absolutely despise those people as well. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to own such a beautiful creature with no knowledge of it? Those shitbags.
When I was little and the movie came out I never thought to myself "I want a nemo fish!" Like I just don't understand what goes through these kids and parents heads
It’s like with the Harry Potter owls 🦉 there were so many homeless owls afterwards It never came to my mind that I want an owl just because harry has one
Same! I mean you can sort of understand it when a kid doesn't pay attention to the meaning of the movie, but at least their parents should know better than to actually buy their child an extremely high maintenance pet.
refreshing to hear an honest fish keeper, accepting that it's cruel to keep them in a little glass box, ok you try to justify it by having an invasive species, but you're honest with yourself and your youtube followers, well done! I don't have a tank yet but will do, and will try to justify it by getting a huge tank (tropical, marine seems too hard work for my laziness) so we're all as bad as each other!
can they really help it if people ignore the movies message. finding nemo.the issue starts when nemo is taken to be put in a tank.finding dory hank not wanting to go back in the wild as well as dory/nemo being shipped off to go live in a aquarium also causes a huge problem. also would it be better if it was a goldfish?then people would just be torturing more goldfish.people need to learn that a pet is big responsibility and isn't something you get on a whim or because your bratty child wants a fishy.
I work in an aquarium store its super rare that people have or keep the same fish for 5 years let alone 10 but yeah your right a blue tang is the most stressed fish easily breaking out with white spot and usually don't make it cause of small tanks
I had one in a small 10-gallon tank lol it was actually the aquarium that suggested it when I was picking fish I had it for 4months and it got white spot a few times but it went away on its own I ended up feeling slack so I traded it back to the shop for a discount off a coral. It was cool to have for that time though plus it was only about the size of a 50c piece
You're like me but with fish. I'm extremely passionate about the correct care for exotic animals especially avians. It makes me so upset how people do 0 hours of research and go buy a parrot from the store and end up neglecting and mistreating them because they. Are not. Mammals!!! And they shouldn't be treated as such!!
Natasha Burdette I have a parrot named Jack that I adopted best decision I've ever made he is the sweetest strangest little guy in the whole world. He's also a Jardine
Nikki Hitchcock yes, most inexperienced bird owners don't understand that unless you take them to an avian vet you're most likely just going to get a bunch of wrong information or just plain lack thereof. I've also heard some horror stories about people taking birds to the general vet for standard grooming like nail clipping etc and the bird ends up with a broken leg or wing?? Crazy.
Natasha Burdette, same, I did months of research before I got my mexican red knee tarantula. She is very easy to take care of but I still did plenty of research. It makes me upset when people don't research their pets before they get one.
You're so intelligent! I wish I had your kind of knowledge. I have had my goldfish since I was 5, and in 2 weeks I turn 14. I've had the same tank for him (can't remember the size) since I got him, and he's lasted for a long time. You're clearly a very passionate person, and you 100% deserve to be recognised to raise awareness for fish keeping.
Thanks for posting this. I remember when Finding Nemo came out I begged my parents for months for a clown fish and a blue tang. Thank god they never bought them for me.
The thing you said about the tank size is unfortunate because now a _lot_ of Pediatric Hospitals and Clinics have the fish tank in the lobby, and what do you usually see? A Royal Blue Tang and Clownfish, and that's because Finding Nemo was such a popular children's movie and children enjoy seeing those types of fish and get excited when they see them & say "Mum look! There's a Dory" or "Mum look! A Nemo!". The tanks are filled with so many of these fish and are so small for them. The fish must be unhappy.
My dentist has a 400 gallon with live coral, 2 blue tangs, a few clown fish, and 1 yellow tang. I love seeing it every time I go there, and over the past 10 or so years I've been going to that dentist. I know they are taking care of them properly because they have all greatly increased in size, have very vibrant colors, and I don't think they have added, gotten rid of any, or any have died in those 10 years. Seeing a nicely kept reef tank in a dentist lobby is really nice. I'd hope that if I came back in another 10 or so years they would still have those same fish in the tank.
obsessedwithpets my nephew wanted some gold fish so my sister got 125 gallon tank and everything it need it inside and out and made it look nice for 2 goldfish so you can't say all parents are ignorant...
Wow... If I'm not mistaken, they had a blue tang in a tiny tank about the size of a large fish bowl in the Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium. It was a living display of the entire cast of Finding Nemo in the children's corner. I hope it was just a short-term thing, and that they moved the fishes to more appropriate tanks afterwards.
Ikr. My local vet has a freshwater tank with a bunch of tetras, a few cory catfish, a pleco, and more fish in a 20 gallon. I asked them when they clean the tank out because it looks so bad, not the algae the fish waste and uneaten food, and they said they let their corys and plecos do it. *bangs head on the nearest wall*
Your channel rocks! I am glad you are preventing those people that just go out and buy saltwater fish and corals just to find out that everything died after spending tons of money on them. I did just that before it took me a good five years to learn and establish my reef tank back in 2008. I no longer have one, but may get back into the hobby again. Keep up the great vids!
This is so important to be passionate about and I'm super happy that you're spreading awareness about animal conservation and ecology! It's amazing you considered this because of the movie. Thank you!
When I was little we had this huge 250 gallon (I think? It could of been larger it was built into the wall) salt water tank. Well my sisters and I watched finding dory and my parents decided to add a couple of clown fish and a couple of blue tangs to our tank. My parents had no idea how to take care of salt water fish so we had a tank technician come out once a week to clean the tank and monitor the health of the fish. We would feed our fish more than once a week don’t worry and I personally would scrub the tank free of algae whenever I saw it. This ended up causing my love for aquatic life as I’d just sit there while this guy cleaned our fish tank and asked him questions about the fish. We moved out of that house so unfortunately we couldn’t take the fish with us, but we made sure to rehome them to people who actually understand the work that goes into owning saltwater fish. It ended up working out for my family because we already had a huge tank and an established ecosystem with snails, coral, shrimp, and other fish. I would highly recommend it if you have the money to spare.
TBH, the most abused in the freshwater world are carps, Chiclids, and antabantoids. I remembered seeing 20 female Bettas in a 3G display tank at a pet store, I was extremely pissed, but, I can't do shit, but spread the word. Thanks Taylor for spreading the message of this Insanity.
I own two bettas but I make sure they are living their best life, mine usually live for 6-7 years each, separated with a divider so they don’t kill each other
Thank you for letting people know about the facts of salt water tanks. I had tried salt water when I was in my 20's and failed miserably. The only animal that lived was an anemone, all the fish died. I felt very bad about it and had wished someone would have talked to me the way you have now. Thank you once again.
I work at a pet store too and it is unfortunate the majority of people don't understand the care it takes to own fish. Especially if the tank is for a child...I actually had one customer who, After I had explained to them the nitrite cycle and how you have to set the tank up first OR buy live bacteria to put in the tank before you add fish, concluded that he would just use 'natural dirt' to 'cycle the tank' I disagreed with him but he insisted....the customer is always right.... I remember him saying to me "how do you think my kids are going to act when I get home with a fish tank with no fish in it?" To that I said "then it may be more likely that the fish wouldn't make it", he still insisted I get him fish.... Haven't seen him since. :/. Its possible that all went fine, and that he just doesnt need to come back in...or its also possible that he woke up the next morning to a tank of dead fish and children crying, blamed me, and claimed "ill never go back to that store again"....so....who knows. :/.
I hope more people see this. it's funny how people don't really care when it's "just a fish" and it is taken away from it's natural habitat and it dies because of improper care as they do for other animals. We had a situation where I had small simple fish and would research how to properly take care for them when I was a kid... but my parents wouldn't really listen so they put a gold fish in with the smaller ones because people who own small pet shops here don't really care and educate customers.
Your description of the ocean may - to some people seem like the way you described it and it's great that you explained that it's not... you're absolutely right about how salt water fish shouldn't be instantly added to the saltwater aquarium - unlike freshwater fish, the saltwater MUST be cycled and stabilized in a timely manner (very long time!!) Before you can add "Dory" or any other saltwater species.
I'm sooooo glad you said this because my friend is like animals are easy to look after "they just need a cage" quote on quote he doesn't know what a bearded lizard is 😤
You’re awesome I’m so glad that you’re uploading videos like this because in our current culture this is a major issue and if somebody that looks like you speaks like you act like you and is as smart as you ,can get people to do the right thing I really appreciate that. Because clearly you wouldn’t be uploading this if you didn’t realize is becoming an issue and it obviously has become an issue so I thank you so much for your Near public service announcement towards these types of issues
I used to breed rabbits and its so upsetting when someone wants to buy a rabbit just because it would be a cute Easter gift or holiday/birthday present. They are animals not fun toys to play with!!!! You need to think about an animal's entire life and care requirements before you get it, do not get a pet just because you want it. You wouldn't have a kid without researching how to care for it and thinking "do I have time for this child," would you????
Brandon Notell I knew someone who bought a Rabbit for their Cousin. ( They went to a friend's house for it, as she Bred rabbits as well. She contacted the parents, too. It was a planned thing. I don't like when you just surprise someone with a pet. It takes care. And chances are the family won't be able to take care of it financially.
Sadly my rabbit was a rescue who was dumped in a parking lot a few weeks after Easter. Rabbits are NOT an easy pet, they require so much room, supplies, and time and it is incredibly sad to see people carelessly buy them only to keep them in horrible conditions or abandon them. People need to research the animals they want to keep and see if they really do have the ability to keep them happy and healthy before buying them :(
I'm glad that your pet store is doing this. I would have thought that they would take advantage of it to make more money. I'm glad they care about the fish they're selling.
This is just like the whole "mommy my friend has a puppy I need one too," or "mommy I saw this tv show and the girl in it had a hamster so I hamster," thing that's common with kids. The parents hear that the kid wants a pet, so they get the kid the pet. But they don't think about how much time and money you have to spend on taking care of a pet. So then they realize that the pet was too much for them to take care of and the kid gets bored with the pet, so the pet gets either killed or abandoned. Or the pet gets dumped on someone else to take care of who might not have the money to take care of it.
There was an incident like this but with zootopia. People were buying fennec foxes and it is saddening to see this happen. Thanks for spreading this knowledge to people, it helps out a lot.
Possibly because they don't have the scent glands that a lot of foxes have that make them smell not so great, and they are smaller and probably easier to keep in a disgustingly small cage :(
I really dont understand why people are complaining about how she doesnt know what shes talking about. She would obviously know because more than half of her channel is on animals. Not to mention how many pets she owns including saltwater and freshwater fish/sea creatures. Maybe people should stop judging people on the first video that they watch of someone or on how they look. Im not saying she looks bad because she looks beautiful 😘. And maybe the people who are hating on her should check the other comments first too. Half the comments are saying "You should be a marine biologist" and stuff like that, the other half saying "this girl doesnt know what shes talking about. This is fake". And i know im not one to judge everyones comments but im just making a point here, you know? Shes making a point on her opinion. Its not the end of the world if some of the facts she just stated were incorrect. So please stop making such a fuss about her being supposedly "wrong".
I have to say KUDOS TO YOU!!!! seriously! THANK YOU! for taking the time to explain what really goes into keeping these beautiful and complex fish! these movies should start with a disclaimer just like this! and its heartbreaking to see the damage that is done by ignorance, it can be just as bad and disastrous as outright animal abuse. It gives me such a good feeling in my heart to know there are people like you working IN pet store's and properly educating people on exotic animals and the specialized care they require. I wish i could hug you! keep it up, your voice makes a huge difference and we need people like you passionate about proper animal husbandry speaking out and not being afraid to say the truth for fear of losing money! GREAT JOB! and much love.
Very informative video! Watched it even though I knew this information. It's true, blue tangs are 99% of the time harvested from the ocean (except for the 1% (or more like the .001%) that comes from the few recent successful captive breedings). We learned about this in marine biology, and actually the teacher has a saltwater tank with fish. She had a blue tang and various other fish in a ~125 gallon tank, and it became a sort of bully to all of the other fish. Even after it died, the clownfish that lived after became the next bully of the tank to the other fish.
people go and get the fish from these movies. they seriously didn't watch the movies. both movies the problems come from people taking fish out of the ocean. get a stuffed animal.
I remember I had watched Nemo and went to the Disney store at the mall (It had a circle with stuff animals everywhere). We got HUGE and I mean HUGE plushes that costed $50. Both me and my sister got them, we still have them today.
I understand your talking about ppl who want a hippo tang due to the movie, but these reasons can be applied to most marine aquarium fish! The majority of marine aquarium fish are wild caught. Roughly 14 percent of the species in the saltwater aquarium trade have been successfully bred and reared in captivity, but only about one percent are commonly available to aquarists as aquacultured animals. Dont you know this? Most get large, like that red lipped tang of yours. She will get almost twice as big than a Dory ever would!
gantz the great right.... she has a huge naso in a 150 gallon tank. The fish seems good though which is why I don’t have a problem with it but she shouldn’t be saying don’t buy a hippo tang if she owns a fish that’s much bigger than one.
Hey, Taylor, thank you for the video. It's nice to see someone who cares enough about animals to try and educate people on proper care and decisions concerning them. I worked as an aquarium maintenance tech for a long time, under the training of a marine biologist, and I saw some things in your video that aren't quite on point. I'd like to share some of my experience with you, hopefully it will help you in your endeavors. Pacific blue tangs are rather delicate. They are definitely not a beginner fish. However, fish catching and shipping is a very rigorous and often times fatal for the fish. Some fish are caught with cyanide, which stuns them right away and kills them a couple weeks, some are bumped and suffer internal organ damage which kills them slowly, some get too hot or cold, or suffer oxygen deprivation or extreme stress, all of which will reduce their slime coating and lead to a slow death after they are purchased. Even the marine biologist I worked for got a lot of sick and dying fish in the store. It's part of the industry. Fish also suffer kidney failure, liver failure, cancer, heart attacks, and all the health problems we do. A small fish like your blue tang should have been fine in a small tank. I suspect it was stressed out from the beginning, which is why it didn't do well. Or something happened, an accidental poisoning or some of the levels weren't correct. But a baby fish should be fine in a small tank. You mentioned cycling the tank for three months before putting a fish in the tank. Cycling the tank is referring to the nitrite cycle, where ammonia is converted via bacteria to nitrite and then to nitrate. It is essential to have a fish in the water for this to take place, since the bacteria that begins the conversion grows from the ammonia produces by the fish. No fish means no ammonia, which means no cycling. If a tank stands for three months with no fish in it, no cycling takes place. Specific quantities of live rock are only necessary for reef tanks. Fish tanks have sand, which is where most of the nitrite cycle bacteria will grow. Fish just need habitat and hiding places. On the subject of sand, live sand is actually a really terrible product. It is supposed to be full of living bacteria, rearing and ready to go. However, it's been in an air tight container with no climate control or food for who knows how long. By the time it is purchased, it is long since dead. All of the organisms in the store bought live sand are going to rot as soon as they get in the tank, and cause a huge explosion of ammonia. It's like throwing a dead cat in the tank. However, if you can get live sand strait from an active tank, that will have the live bacterial culture, and will work just fine as long as it doesn't dry out, or get too hot or cold. But the packaged stuff is just a an ammonia bomb. For the section on water testing, there are few cases in which those things need to be tested daily. During the initial cycle, Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate should be tested a few times a week, but generally those don't need to be tested again unless something goes wrong. Specific gravity is tested when adding or changing water, but that's about it. Or adding new fish, to make sure the levels are the same. Calcium and PH hardly need to be checked with a fish tank. For reef tanks, it is suggested a couple times a week. If it is a hungry reef tank, it may be up to a couple times a day. That stuff doesn't need to be tested every day, by and large. I know you don't know me from anyone. Feel free to double check my information or shoot me a msg if you doubt me. I hope I didn't offend you with any of this, or by trying to help out. As I said, I'm just trying to share my years of experience and training under a marine biologist. I do agree with you, that making an impulse purchase of a fish just because it's in a movie is a horrible idea. These fish are a big responsibility and do require a lot of care. If maintenance is kept up on, keeping a saltwater fish tank is easy and not an issue. But neglect it even a little and it becomes a nightmare, and most people who aren't truly in to the hobby end up doing just that. It's not a hobby for everyone.
Fishless cycling can be done by dripping a small amount of pure ammonia into the tank to keep the concentration at around 4 - 5 ppm (without any fish or inverts in obviously!) or by "feeding" the tank with fish food allowed to rot into the tank (this method is messy and not as accurate). When cycling is complete, the water is changed, and fish are added. There is no need to sacrifice a live fish to the cycling process.
I agree with you that there are other ways to start the nitrogen cycle on a tank, the point though was that a tank will not cycle if it is just left to sit, you need bacteria to be added, whether that be starter fish (damsels for salt or danios for fresh) or adding live bacteria or trace amounts of ammonia
This is such a good video and I'm sure it will help a lot of people. If my little cousins see finding dory and want one I will show their parents this video
I was one of those kids with a father who was knowledgeable about fish and I was able to have a "Nemo" and "Dory". We also had two big Oscar fish who suicided and somehow jumped out of the tank 😶
Ana x my stepdad is also very educated in fish, sadly our clown fish committed suicide by jumping out the tank, we had him for about four years. rip :-(
Lotte Plantinga well, they might jump out if the tank conditions aren't maintained properly. Or if they are a jumping fish that accidentally jump out of the tank.
The comment was not clear enough for me to know this but if the oscars were in the same tank as thw blue tang and the clownfish then I don't think your father was knowledgeable because Oscars are freshwater fish whereas blue tangs and clownfish are saltwater sooo you done fucked up (unless they were in a different tank of course)
When I was little, all I had was goldfish. I saw loads of beautiful fish but I thought, "Mm I'm only seven. I'm not even going to try take care of these beautiful fish, they'd all die," and just bought the goldfish instead.
XXYuminMHXX Yeah, but you realize that you also killed the goldfish? Because unless you had a huge tank, you stunted its growth, and it's also a social creature, so unless you had many other goldfish with it, it was constantly depressed. Sadly, most of us don't learn this until we are much much older... but goldfish are the worst types of fish to own.
Yumin I’m in no way blaming you you were a child but goldfish, like the other comments stated are social and need at least, (at LEAST) a 200 gallon tank to survive to the full extent of their life. Honestly the best idea is to put them in a pond. I made the mistake as a child and i had a .5 gallon for the fish. I received the fish as a prize at a fair, so it was unexpected and i couldn’t care for it properly. I didn’t know that fish needed conditioner so it passed away. I’m glad i have the opportunity to learn more about animals and properly research before adopting though. :)
So the movie has been passed... I'm not that type of person who buys a pet because it's from a movie that just came out, I think that's dumb and I didn't know people actually people did that... buuuuuuut I did want a salt water tank just because of how beautiful they are and I already knew that it's a lot of work compared to a normal tank and it's not just salt in water.... and also i didn't know u would need all that stuff, I'm kinda sad now that I won't be able to for many reasons but I don't mind when I get older i would be the same as u being able to handle as many animals and know when they are ok or not.... I'm slowly getting there... i have a sun conure and dog and 2 guppies soo i think i can stick with them for now
I have a 320 gallon tank and my blue tang is just over a foot long even a tank as big as mine he still doesn’t have much room. My tank has cost 25000 to set up but I gave had it now for 8 years
Honestly why are people so mad she's not saying "dont buy the fish" shes saying "dont blindly buy a fish you cant properly take care of".
UnironicallyPhan your right
UnironicallyPhan Because some people like to be almighty and instantly jump to conclusions
UnironicallyPhan I know. She just wants to protects the fish
They can get mad. You dont buy animals to abuse them. Too bad if people get mad at their selfish apathy. Don't be s black soul
"You basically need to recreate the ocean in a tiny box!" THIS sums it up
Jeff Bronson She said that as I read this. Woah.
Lol "just keep swimming" was Dory's catch phrase for a reason
No wonder she reached the Great Barrier Reef on her own!
Addison Martin same
I guess I went from an arctic fox to a a chiuaua?
I was your 1k like
SkyeBright StarLight. Lol
ONE GALLON!?!? That's horrible.
EXACTLY.
+Marisabel Payan Do you guys loose a lot of customers that way?
Jfc, why is she getting so much hate? She obviously knows what she's talking about, and knows what she's doing. If you're coming out of the hole of ignorants, and have no knowledge on blue tangs, why go out of your way and comment bullcrap?
ignorance not ignorants :) but very true.
Zostiel because of these reasons:
-people think they know everything
-people always want to feel like they're right even if told otherwise by experts
-people are simply assholes
-people dont care about the animal(s) and are probably currently killing them by not following whatever rules are given in vids like these
-people are actually butthurt 12 year olds
She knows what she is talking about and she knows EVERYTHING about animals. Think about it when someone commented it on your video if you where her. Stop bullying you tubers you bitch!
Kenny McCormick I'm 12 and I like fishes but like she say in the vid I don't want to buy one or any of those type of fish heck I don't want a fish cuz my cat will eat it under a min. Lol. And plus it cost so much money 😛😛
ignorants as a group of people. Like a group of ignorants in a holr
This is what people did when 101 Dalmatians came out. Now Dalmatians are overbred and in bred. They now have personality quirks and aggressive natures
We adopted our Dalmation in 2000. She was bred a lot and abused and was actually the runt of the litter, but she turned out to be the best dog.
+My beautiful and amazing mistress you stoopid
My beautiful and amazing mistress you're a pendeja and brainless
if you only care to eat fish and not take care of them there will be no more fish to eat
"Instead of spending all your money to potentially kill a blue tang, consider donating some money to wildlife funds and ocean conservation funds to conserve the species in the wild!"
THANK YOU AHHHHHHH
Summoner Stripclub timestamp please
@Samuel Nelson mk let me get this straight. You got mad at someone for getting excited about Taylor asking people to CONSIDER donating to help wild life. And they weren't even talking to you. You made a fool of yourself for no reason
How about look into the logistics of telling someone to donate the money that they only was considering using in the first place for a physical fish.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡👍
Duff Clem lol
I love rats ahhhh I had one named Dobby for a couple years. I wish they lived longer. Such smart, sweet, clever little critters.
does the rat cook for you?
Thanks for making this.. I hate seeing people buy pets just because they come out in movies. I remember when tango came out everyone went out to buy a chameleon and most did not make it past a year.
Rango*
Rango + Tangled = Tango
Bianca you obviously either didn't actually do a project on chameleons or got your facts from the wrong source. Some species of chameleon can live as much as 10 years in captivity when taken care of.
Yeah they definitely live more than just a few months.. Lol
+Bianca Romano the ones in Madagascar can on occasion get up to ten years old, though the average is around 5-7 I believe
This video convinced my friend to not get one for her kid, thank you!! You helped save a blue tang
Jackson Parker that's awesome *spn reference there*
Tell her get a Plushie instead.
i showed my 7 year old brother this. at the end he said "can i get a dory plush toy instead? i only have $5 in my piggy bank"
Awww ☺️
awe!!! that's adorable I hope he gets one.
Awww that's so cute
awe
such a cute lil bro, buy him that plush tho hahah
I don’t have the time or commitment for a saltwater tank.. so I don’t get a saltwater tank. WHY CAN SOME PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CANT JUST BUY AN ANIMAL BECAUSE U SAW IT I A FRECKING MOVIE
Mia Doherty 😆😅
Lol
Yes!!! And when people buy animals like bunnies and things people aren’t prepared for as gifts for little kids 🙁 it’s so sad, and so many animals die because people don’t understand that pets are a responsibility😭😭😭
Frenchiest Fry exactly!
Frenchiest Fry, Yes!
Why do you not have more likes?
Sam Screams a fucken pizzaria

Ugh I was so pissed
damn I'd be so pissed, you should have told the shop owner
Francesca Taddia most shop owners don't care. It's all about money.

I didn't know they got a foot long, holy moly. The movie makes you think they're basically the same size as clownfish.
-snip- nvm
They big boys.
"You have to replicate the ocean in a tiny little box" is as real as it gets
This is why I have a pet rock
Emanuel Salgado no can do sir you've gotta have atleast 6437 gallons of air for its survival, no can do
Emanuel Salgado I hope you have a filter
Emanuel Salgado lol these replies tho 😂
Emanuel Salgado for me even a pet rock is too hard to care for 😂😂
Thats nice
Some lessons go right over people's heads. I like to think most people come away from Finding Dory not wanting a wild-caught pet fish, but some kids clearly just want the BLOO FISH ON TEEVEE
I hate to think how these same kids react to Madagascar.
Cute, but I know it didn't happen.
TheReaverOfDarkness same
I have a friend that owns a Blue Tang.
She has a 6ft tank (not sure how many gallons). In her tank she has the whole finding nemo scene (clown fishes, ect..) She told me that ''Dory'' alone is costing her thousands!
Oooo I'd love to see that! Could you or your friend upload a video of the aquarium?
I had a 125 tank. It is 6' long. It was SO expensive, and a TON of work. I'd rather do fresh, so much easier and less expensive. I didn't have a tang, but I did have a pair of clowns.
BloomingPets *clown fish*
Record it and let us see :D
if you can't afford a 6 foot tank with high tech reef equipment, don't buy a tang.
You are correct. I would not do a Kole Tang in anything less than a 55g. A 4 foot tank would be minimum for Koles and Bristletooths. 5 foot for Yellows but you could get away with it in a 120g. The comment is meant for beginners for sure. If you know about Kole tangs than you are knowledgeable enough
goxcpre I miss my old 7ft :'( saltwater was my life
Jmm226 6ft is usually the length of a 125G
One would think the message of the movie would DISCOURAGE people from imprisoning fish in tanks, but people are brainless, especially parents.
Chelsea Birbal You would think though their parents would have the common sense to say no, or even better, explain to them why it's not a good idea and why it's bad for the fish and most children wouldn't want the fish anymore if the parent pointed out to them the message of the film.
i wonder why some kids think that way,as a kid i always did a victory screech when the pets escaped.
Kaiser Frost if you give them proper care and space then they don't get stressed or anything so I bet even they don't feel imprisoned
Kaiser Frost well some fish won't be good in captivity but others won't be
Finding nemo: a movie about why it's wrong to take fish out of the wild.
Finding Dory: same message
Parents: lol let's take a fish out of the wild so my kids can have their own "Dory"
Me: did we even watch the same movie
Right? My friends little sister wanted a “Nemo” and “dory” fish, her mom got it for her and they sadly passed away a week later (not to mention they were kept in a fish bowl)
i´m literally crying of happiness. it makes me so emotional to see people like you that are actually concerned about the animals and about preserving them. we are the worst thing that could´ve happened to the poor things, and you´re using your influence in a good way and for a good cause. keep up the excellent work, you just got a new subscriber :)
heavydirtyphan The phandom is everywhere omg. protip: blue tangs are soft and neat
Nemo is all about how people shouldnt buy that fish and everyone did it 😂
Shaethedino you clearly didn't pay attention to the movie and it's storyline. You missed the whole point completely. Just shut up
Ecartts you are so dumb coming from an aquamarine scientist I totally agree with her, that's like saying humans will be fine in a room with water and food with a breeding partner. Didn't think so, most likely you have a blue tang that lives in a 10gallon tank and will only live for a year.
Rachel Wiliamson What the hell did you think I've said ? LoL .. Cuz it seems you got me wrong..

Because making animals suffer is terrible and angering
I wish more kids were like you! Your parents raised you right.
You are a very good kid because when I was 7 I killed a hamster R.I.P hamster. I fed him a FootLoop and he choked and died after that I felt like a really mean and bad person but now I'm vegetarian and LOVE animals and take good care for the animal. At least I didn't call the animal a it
Great story, but please use punctuation. It gets kind of tiring to read one long run-on sentence like this.
Update that to the blog
All About Mia what does a hamster have to do with fish!?!!?! A FISH NAMED HAMSTER THAT IS BRILLIENT HAHAHAHAHAHA that's the funniest thing i've ever heard, a domestic bred hamster VS a fish that was caught in the wild HAHAHAHAHA
blue tangs are beautiful, but leave the beauty where it belongs

Agreed. "Beauty is not about possession, it's about appreciation."
I think it's interesting but frustrating how many people want to keep fish after seeing Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. It makes me sit back like, "Did you even... WATCH the movie?"
Melman Mankiewicz III the movie message is obviously not to buy fish
This actually happened back when 101 dalmatians first came out. People got a bunch of dalmatians without realizing they need a shit ton of care and then a bunch ended up on the streets or in pounds. People tend to buy animals after seeing a movie without doing research which ends up being to the disadvantage of the animals.
people buy 1001 things without doing research...
KPopCanadian and the movie caused a ton of inbreeding because breeders had to keep up with all of the people who wanted them
Same with Huskies now because of Game of Thrones and other dog related movies.
Mysti's Games That's really sad... I have a malamute and it's similar to a Husky. A Husky is very hyper and hard to take care of. They also take up a lot of space, and people don't realize that so they end up in the streets :(
So true. And this phenomenon goes back decades.

My beautiful and amazing mistress I'm into reptiles and amphibians pretty much anything that looks like a lizard or a frog
Do you have any reptiles at the moment? :)
People did the same ignorant crap when 101 Dalmatians came out.
My beautiful and amazing mistress Let's play "Spot the ignorant animal hater"

Blue Tangs swim hundreds of miles a day?
So they...
Just keep swimming?
Molly F for fucks sake
Molly F I know some one would comment that.
Molly F that is why dory got lost
When I was little and the movie came out I never thought to myself "I want a nemo fish!" Like I just don't understand what goes through these kids and parents heads
caronicole It's because kids are basically trained to expect merchandise after every movie they watch.
It’s like with the Harry Potter owls 🦉 there were so many homeless owls afterwards
It never came to my mind that I want an owl just because harry has one
Same! I mean you can sort of understand it when a kid doesn't pay attention to the meaning of the movie, but at least their parents should know better than to actually buy their child an extremely high maintenance pet.
when i was a kid i thought nemo is a made up fish lol
apparently the only fish i know when i was a kid is the one that we eat tuna, tilapia, sardines and such
refreshing to hear an honest fish keeper, accepting that it's cruel to keep them in a little glass box, ok you try to justify it by having an invasive species, but you're honest with yourself and your youtube followers, well done! I don't have a tank yet but will do, and will try to justify it by getting a huge tank (tropical, marine seems too hard work for my laziness) so we're all as bad as each other!
Indeed. Fish tanks are not for the the lazy.
Adult: i understand you
Teen:okay, i understand you
Kid: you hate dory faq you *dislike*
Why is this so true
Reefer: Yeah, no shit.
There are also stupid adults
Althea Li yep
Red i wanted a dalmatian before that because i love dogs
seriously they should've just made Dory a goldfish
can they really help it if people ignore the movies message.
finding nemo.the issue starts when nemo is taken to be put in a tank.finding dory hank not wanting to go back in the wild as well as dory/nemo being shipped off to go live in a aquarium also causes a huge problem.
also would it be better if it was a goldfish?then people would just be torturing more goldfish.people need to learn that a pet is big responsibility and isn't something you get on a whim or because your bratty child wants a fishy.
People would still fuck up because 90% of people don't know a goldfish has no stomach and has to be fed constantly.
Goldfish are home pets, they don't live in saltwater... The fish would die before being born, it would never exist. it cannot be a goldfish...
My Maya it would if the storyline was about Nemo the goldfish having great fun in his 20l tank
NuKeD Koala shh it's a metaphor
I work in an aquarium store its super rare that people have or keep the same fish for 5 years let alone 10 but yeah your right a blue tang is the most stressed fish easily breaking out with white spot and usually don't make it cause of small tanks
Tony ARC I had a fighter fish for 8 years...
UNTILL SOME RANDOM DRIEND OF MYNBROTHERS BUT BEER IN THE TANK
Oats TheOcelot 8 years is a hella of a long time for a fighting fish, check out my 26,000 gallon swimming pond
Don't sell them then.. And don't sell therm to suffer from idiots.. You are a part of the problem.
I guess you could say that blue tangs,,,,,,,,,,,, JUST KEEP SWIMMING
imsorry
AmaiCakes IKR?! SO THAT'S WHY DORY KEEPS SINGING 'Just Keep Swimming' Mind blown 🌋
Marchy .................
Just just stop
Crazy.
shame, every vet i take my dogs to does that but they're also the top rated vet in the area so i don't know what to believe.
Natasha Burdette, same, I did months of research before I got my mexican red knee tarantula. She is very easy to take care of but I still did plenty of research. It makes me upset when people don't research their pets before they get one.
Natasha Burdette You say that like they can't do that after they buy it.
Watching this brings me so much nostalgia being a 13 year old watching this and educating myself and now being 20. Wish you health and happiness 💕
Wonderful PSA. Your comment on how Tang swim for miles I wonder if that played into Dory's "Keep Swimming" song?
Mid West you know it did, girl
3:38 So you mean to tell me they... just keep swimming?
lol I thought the same thing & even said that to myself
just keep swimming just keep swimming lol
Lol I was going to say the same thing
Mostly, unlike clowns Regals live and graze on vast bodies of water
I said the same thing to myself lol
Thanks for posting this. I remember when Finding Nemo came out I begged my parents for months for a clown fish and a blue tang. Thank god they never bought them for me.
I love how Taylor is talking so intensely and the music is just so happy
All the hospital places I've been to have had over 200 gallons and well kept.
Grace Carter Yes, but they are fish. It is bad for them to be trapped in such a small tank, but human happiness is more important than fish happiness.
basically salt water fish are a pain in the ass lol stick to a beta for your kids get a blue one and say its Dory wearing a dress
They won't even know what cycling is 🙄
obsessedwithpets my nephew wanted some gold fish so my sister got 125 gallon tank and everything it need it inside and out and made it look nice for 2 goldfish so you can't say all parents are ignorant...
i'd put some cories with those goldfish.
I wouldn't. Most cories prefer warmer water than goldies, and I've heard horror stories about goldies trying to eat them and nearly dying as a result.
Victoria Peters yeah or a yellow tailed damsel with a dory décor
at the pet store I couldn't find any blue tangs, so I bought a blue beta fish and named it dory
and I didn't really want a blue tang, I was better off with the beta fish so......
+Tara Trinh *betta
:)
I have a blue betta fish also :)
Tara Trinh I guess you could say it was a BETTA choice...
Make a vid about JUST HOW TO OWN A CHEESE
Cotton Kailey i heard they're very difficult to care for; she probably doesn't want her incapable viewers to go out and buy some
taxu yeah I agree. Kids might see it and think ‘oh easy’ and buy one.
Step 1: Buy a block of cheese
Step 2: Throw it in a fishtank
Step 3: Ensure fishtank is devoid of fish before Step 2
Katie Smith Seems legit.
They are a lot of maintenance, if you don’t have time or commitment, don’t get one.
PLEASE tell me im not the only one who hates seeing saltwater tanks in doctors offices...
Jade S. there is rarely ever salt water tanks
hxnestlyava
..many doctors offices and hotels have them?
Jade S. in my doctors office there is a huge tank and they have professional people come in for tank maintenance
I mean like unmainrained, fish always dying becayse of kids, unhealthy tanks.
But mom! I just want to keep Ellen Degeneres in a tank!
HorseyTube SAME
😂😂😂🤦
HorseyTube Eventing Halp
Fuck man. I wanna pet Ellen Degeneres! MOoOm.
Ellen needs to be free to make her bomb talk show guys.
I have 2 "Nemo" fish and 2 "dory" fish, but my tank is gigantic. I've had them for years and they all are as healthy as can be :)
Kianjir my tang got hlle:(
Kianjir Congrats!!
I have 4 Clownfish and 1 blue tang :3
Well I’m glad ur taking care of ur fish! May Cheese 🧀 Bless you
I want a saltwater tank, but I have done my research and looked at good places to shop. All I need now is my Dad to do the same xD
they're also poisonous, they have a barb in their back yellow tail 🐟
Courtney trundley-read they do? Wow.
That's kinda cool.
Thats not a blue tang thats a foxface
+KenLovesDogs It may be a defensive mechanism for both, but I do know it is very true for blue tangs, at least.
This is so important to be passionate about and I'm super happy that you're spreading awareness about animal conservation and ecology! It's amazing you considered this because of the movie. Thank you!
thank you!!!
when finding nemo came out people started buying clown fish now its blue tang yet people dont care
Undead Trooper i agree, especially goldfish and bettas
#savethebettas
YOU CAN’T PUT FEMALE BETTAS TOGETHER!!!!!!
You can actually put female bettas together (well usually, some individuals are very aggressive) but 20 in a 3G is cruel.
Becki that anemone mustve been tough as nails. They usually go first
I work at a pet store too and it is unfortunate the majority of people don't understand the care it takes to own fish.
I remember him saying to me "how do you think my kids are going to act when I get home with a fish tank with no fish in it?"
To that I said "then it may be more likely that the fish wouldn't make it", he still insisted I get him fish....
Haven't seen him since. :/. Its possible that all went fine, and that he just doesnt need to come back in...or its also possible that he woke up the next morning to a tank of dead fish and children crying, blamed me, and claimed "ill never go back to that store again"....so....who knows. :/.
April Marie NSJSNSNS NATURAL DIRT WITH BUGS IN IT TO CYCLE A TANK
People should get a stuffed animal Dory and watch the Ellen DeGeneres show. :P
They last less longer
Daantje just buy a small fish tank and get a water flow and put a rubber dory and place it in the tank and there you have a blue tang
This did not age well
@@Latenivenatrix_Mcmasterae 🤣🤣
I hope more people see this. it's funny how people don't really care when it's "just a fish" and it is taken away from it's natural habitat and it dies because of improper care as they do for other animals. We had a situation where I had small simple fish and would research how to properly take care for them when I was a kid... but my parents wouldn't really listen so they put a gold fish in with the smaller ones because people who own small pet shops here don't really care and educate customers.
03:42
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do you do to swim?" 😂
I love how you know your information and you really care about ur aqua life. Also when ur giving information well to me you don't sound mean
I'm sooooo glad you said this because my friend is like animals are easy to look after "they just need a cage" quote on quote he doesn't know what a bearded lizard is 😤
Aimee Miller I have 3 crested geckos I have a big huge huge hugeeeeeereeeeeeeee tank lots of plants every thing I think they have a good life
try showing him this video or how to keep a fish or how to keep lizards
Tell him that he just needs a cage then. Brains are missing
40g for babies, 75g for adults
Fish are friends, not toys
HChris agreed,i saw a kid on youtube and he was holding a dead fish in his hand and kept saying " i wanna put it in the toybox " i got so pissed
I'm not even interested in fish or lizards, I just love your channel because you're interesting :)
Ferro2155
Same
ends up giving advice to friend whos fish owner even tho fish for you not main interest lol
Haha exactly the same
You’re awesome I’m so glad that you’re uploading videos like this because in our current culture this is a major issue and if somebody that looks like you speaks like you act like you and is as smart as you ,can get people to do the right thing I really appreciate that.
People need to research the animals they want to keep and see if they really do have the ability to keep them happy and healthy before buying them :(
Shouldn't breed the... So many in need and yes most won't give a good home. Better to rescue then breed in our world always
Or the pet gets dumped on someone else to take care of who might not have the money to take care of it.
i dont know anything about any animal seriously. but i just admire the passion that you have talking about differents species. you are awesome!
There was an incident like this but with zootopia. People were buying fennec foxes and it is saddening to see this happen. Thanks for spreading this knowledge to people, it helps out a lot.
Blue Flame why were they buying fennec foxes? The main character was your every day red fox. Fennec foxes are an entirely different breed
When the price list came up, I thought it was credits and the video was over 😂😂
I have to say KUDOS TO YOU!!!! seriously! THANK YOU! for taking the time to explain what really goes into keeping these beautiful and complex fish! these movies should start with a disclaimer just like this! and its heartbreaking to see the damage that is done by ignorance, it can be just as bad and disastrous as outright animal abuse.
I approve; people MUST always research before they commit to a pet of any kind!
Melly Kidd before I got my cockatiel I researched for maybe a month and THEN got it. I didn't research WHILE I had Him.
Tomboy_47
Well done! That's the way to do it.
Melly Kidd :)
The fish seems good though which is why I don’t have a problem with it but she shouldn’t be saying don’t buy a hippo tang if she owns a fish that’s much bigger than one.
she isn't saying "dont buy a hippo tang" she's saying "dont buy a hippo tang IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO LOOK AFTER ONE"
Amazing girl. I wish most to be like you. Not only beauty shell, but smart and responsible to nature!
The 'just keep swimming' thing makes sense in a whole other level now 🤤🤤
finally someone who actually cares about blue tangs
MacBunny Muffin
E Reynolds definitely different tanks lol, the Oscars were big and we had a large tank.
Ana x Well great! Sorry for the misunderstanding
Yumin im pretty sure (not really sure) that i thought my first goldfish was a clownfish
i eat fish
gold fish live for 17 years and also grow a foot long
Yumin I’m in no way blaming you you were a child but goldfish, like the other comments stated are social and need at least, (at LEAST) a 200 gallon tank to survive to the full extent of their life. :)
why dont ppl get it? its the whole point of the movie. DONT GET FISH FROM THE SEA. or even captivity if you cant take care of them
I can just imagine someone watched this video after they put their Dory in a 2 gallon tank and was like, "Uh oh."
I'm slowly getting there... i have a sun conure and dog and 2 guppies soo i think i can stick with them for now
Blue tangs swim hundreds of miles everyday, it just keeps swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming...
Dory: Just keep swimming, swimming swimming...
Allison Wu the viewers of this video aren’t brain dead I think they made that connection
Not in a straight line
I have a 320 gallon tank and my blue tang is just over a foot long even a tank as big as mine he still doesn’t have much room. My tank has cost 25000 to set up but I gave had it now for 8 years
