Really looking forward to this! Just about to start my first "full" cage build on na miata. Please talk about mig vs. tig on cage builds. Also how to identify good points to tie cage to.
Looking back after getting a flux core I definitely agree with skipping it and going for mig. Kind of. If you're just occasionally welding two pieces together then there's nothing better than flux core but if you're gonna be welding once a week or more often then mig is definitely a better one.
Hey Ryan! Thanks hanks for watching our first episode! We’re going to get into some serious detail on roll cage design, tube bending, notching, and of course, welding. 🤙🏼
We started years ago w/a Lincoln WeldPack 175HD and gas and didn't know how good we had it until we played w/flux core, LOL. We moved to a #3 bottle pretty quickly, so I don't recommend the baby bottles. We added a YesWelder TIG-250P which is a spaceship in comparison, but we use both fairly often. Both are 240V from the garage outlet the house was built with.
Hey man im having trouble on my 7018 starts at the bottom. I strike up above and make sure to heat the rod up and then start at the bottom but everytime i start going side to side at the very bottom i see the puddle just bubble up from all the porosity.. and idk why it always happens. Idk if its cus im to cold but if i turn it up hot it drips and im starting to think im starting to far back which makes my cap fall over itself cause the porosity and advice?
I don't think you should tell people to skip Flux core welding I think it a good way to learn about welding without wasting there money on gas I learned a lot from it and stick welding now I am a little bit better at all types of welding
my fantasy is to be able to build a cro-moly tube frame and have a car that is under 2000 lbs. Drop the stock body on it so it looks legit and street legal. All vehicles are way over built because of safety standards and way too heavy.
Rather than a tiny little bottle of 75/25 AR/CO2 I'd EITHER start with a larger bottle (that tiny bottle will run out very fast) OR with a 20 lb CO2 bottle. CO2 is a liquid when in a compressed cylinder and a 20 lb bottle lasts a very long time and welds pretty good (not quite as pretty as with 75/25).
Looking forward to the series, thanks for the video.

This series is will be perfect for you. We go in-depth with cage design and we keep it simple, yet effective, as we MIG weld the cage. 🤙🏼
Very interesting but I think for anyone starting off welding Stick is definitely the way to start
This is going to be an awesome series … super stoked for this. Great work Shawn!
Much appreciated! 🤙🏼
this is about to be an awesome series...cant wait!
We have some awesome in-depth cage fabrication/welding content heading your way! Thanks for watching.
CAn't wait!
Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼

So psyched for this...looking to build a cage for my track car, and would love the insight.

Nice! Much love for ATC for what they can do with builds. Also, enjoyed the interview with Skyline with Larry at COTA.
Hey Carasear! I really appreciate that. Maybe we can knock out a welding project on the R32 and make an episode out of it.
teach the difference between road race and drag race roll cage. and how the pts work. 6pts roll cage 10 pts roll cage and so on
You’re in luck for episode 2. We design a proper 6 Point Road Race roll cage for a GTR. Stay tuned. 🤙🏼
The Lincoln 140 mig is the one i got. Was the biggest one Lowe's had at the time that was 110v. Been great, I just dont use it often
ooh this is nice
Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
Looking forward to seeing what new details this this video might be able to ad to what might be able to offer !
We hope that this series gives better insight on how to properly build a roll cage and gives people the confidence to give it a go. 🤙🏼
Looking forward to all the new Content.
Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
I'm planning on building a go-kart or some sort of atv, so this'll help a lot.

DID YOU SAY AERODYNAMICS?? I'VE BEEN A PILOT FOR 41 YEARS, LET ME START AT THE FAA!
Plosh metal
Guess I expected more about "How to build a roll cage" Are you taking over the channel? If so, I'm out of here.
This is great. Be nice to get some insight on cages for pickup 🛻 both classic and modern
