A qucik review for Gardens of the Moon, book one in Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. #malazan #fantasybooks #bookreview #booktube #bookdiscussion
“It’s almost science fiction at times.” It never quite becomes science fiction, but this will be even more true as you read on. Absolutely yes in regard to the Greek gods. The fact that you like Kruppe is a good sign for your future enjoyment of certain elements of the series. Great review, Al!
Its great that you loved the first book so much. It will get even better from here. Can't wait to see your reaction to the second book, Deadhouse Gates.
I also enjoyed this book, and agree that should be accessible for most readers. As you say it’s an extremely fantastical world and Erikson presents this in a very matter-of-fact way, which can be disorienting to start with. Once I accepted this it and just went with the flow it was fine. I’m part way through book 2 and finding that to be relatively more straightforward.
I’ve often wondered from discussions people have had regarding the series if there was a case of having to reach base camp with Book of the Fallen before you can relax into to experience.
I have visited your youtube channel there are some problems due to which your views are not coming I have shared you the screenshot if you have time you will have a look. Thanks.

This is great to hear. The sci-fi comment is one I failed to add context to but I’m sure I can be more concise in future reviews.
I loved this book. I definitely need to get back to this series.
Definitely! But you may have 360 more books to read first 😆

I think it’s a really good book as is Deadhouse Gates. My review should be up in a couple of weeks 👍
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the Malazan journey!
So far so good 😊

That’s what I’m talking about. Welcome to this life changing journey. Buckle up because it will get crazier. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you
I consider myself thoroughly warned 🫡
